Once again, Peter hits a home run with his lyrics. No one else can explain fear on a cosmic level with such a mundane example as crossing the street. Koanoshi > anyone else.
I thought the same, also because of the way he screamed the line with the break 😂 But in the end the lyrics overall describe cruel reality, so the high screams in the end „it’s a one way street“ make so much more sense in the end.
The music video is a masterpiece! 🔥🔥🔥 So is the song and it's concept, especially the "It's a one way street!" part in the end, where you can hear the frustration!
@jk6971 you know what youre right i apologize i said it under the pretense of nothing has ever happened to them, they just have anxiety about a "what if" and since it has happened to me, i get defensive about people tryna garner hypothetical sympathy. but youre right
the narrative in the lyrics of this song is very interesting: the protagonist is scared and apprehensive about the guys on the street corner and he keeps thinking he should cross the street to avoid them and avoid any possible dangerous outcomes and yet he never does, and in the end it turns out his apprehensions were correct as those guys jump him. then the perspective turns around and the white lady clutching her purse sees the protagonist the same way he saw those guys earlier, but... those guys really did turn out to be dangerous, so isn't she justified in feeling that way? the protagonist felt the danger of sketchy strangers on his own flesh when they were beating him down, so isn't it fair enough for the white lady to be scared of him when getting jumped is a very real possibility of what could happen with sketchy strangers on the street? we literally just saw it happen.
There's a video where Kaonashi's vocalist breaks this down, but the short summary is that there's a lot of commentary about growing up Black behind the song. The "white lady" sees Morgan as a threat primarily because he's a young Black man, even though we the listener just heard about how he got beat up. He's isolated as the perpetual suspect, even though he's a victim of that rampant violence as well. "I'm scared of everyone, and everyone's scared of me."
@@drpibisback7680 right, but the reasons she was scared of him are the same reasons he was scared of the other black guys, so it's just a vicious cycle of profiling where sometimes it's justified and other times it isn't, without any true way of knowing the outcome.
I dont know if i can show this to my friends, cuz then i look like a loser. Now im big and can defend myself im afraid on the comments and hurting one of them. but i can definitely feel it. greetings from berlin germany
so, It seems that this song is about how did Morgan become a bully? And it seems that Jimmy's brother is not dead either. I don't know, my research on lyrics is not as in-depth.
I welcome the creation of what I think might be called "poetrycore". Even if the vocalist sounds like more aggressive hardcore version of Brian Johnson
Growing up as a Black kid with moral integrity and non-common interests in the hood is like juggling wasps nest while you’re standing on obsidian rock.
Ashton publicly said nobody in high school knows who you are. This was done as a humiliation ritual. His disrespect will not be forgiven. Nate let me hear a voicemail message that Mallory left him. The goal was to make me feel inferior. His disrespect will not be forgiven.
the way the lines "niggas is on the corner" and "they're starting to follow me" are delivered is iconic
Nah, it's White lady walking alone at night.
It’s “New Balance and bubble jackets” for me.
If you grew up in a big city in a bad neighborhood, you know this anxiety and paranoia. This is perfect.

"It's a one way street" really brought it all together I'm loving how simplistic their lyrics seem but they hold so much meaning.
Once again, Peter hits a home run with his lyrics. No one else can explain fear on a cosmic level with such a mundane example as crossing the street. Koanoshi > anyone else.
I showed my mom this song & she did nothing but laugh the 1st time I played it and then the 2nd time she started to understand the band lol
Kaonashi is the only band to make me cry while spin kicking
Bodysnatcher too
same same
How can a song do such a spectacular job of telling a story and be this heavy at the same time?
My favorite band. No other band has ever kept me going or made me feel as understood as Kaonashi.
How much did they pay this lady lol to run like that.
Fromjoy too
