  • February 2015. A tour of the campervan that we've been living in (full time) since 2 weeks prior to our wedding in July 2014 (7 months). We spent 2 months traveling Canada for our honeymoon, and then settled down in Ontario for the winter.

It's funny what different people find impressive and inspirational. I thought that table was the cat's meow and I didn't know that van seats in the front would swivel. It is a simple thing, but it is fun for me.

That table setup is the best I've seen yet. That goes for old, new, stock, and diy mods. Before I bought my roadtrek I must have watched every camper van tour and class B sales video out there, and that setup stands out. Awesome.

Matthew Diem My goodness, thank you for your compliment! We spent several weeks trying to figure out what to do for our table. This was the best solution we could think of, and we couldn't be happier. Perhaps we'll post a future video about how built it. Thanks for your comment!

I think you two are super smart. What a phenomenal way to start off your married life!! It is so insanely difficult nowadays to get started in life-I wish I had done what you are doing and been able to save money for a house right away!! The worst thing ever is to get caught in the rent trap or saddled with a hefty mortgage. I know all too well that life has too many twists and turns-just because you have great jobs and your health right now doesn't mean you always will!! My good friend was able to live with his parents, save like crazy and and at 27 yrs old paid cash for a house in Chicago with a garden rental unit. He and his wife both work and bank most of their salary-amazing!!

I like how you guys are taking a more realistic approach to this. Some seem to think they will grow old and die in their camper van... or, they simply don't think more than a day or two ahead. While that is possible, I just find it unlikely most that think this will be thinking the same thing 10 years down the road... let alone 40 or 50 years.
You guys know that eventually you will need/want to move into a house. So, in addition to using the van to adventure around, you are also using it as a tool to help you meet your future goals.

That's awesome. I've always loved vanagons and am often quite envious when I see one in person. Though, life would certainly be a lot more difficult without the couple extra amenities that our slightly larger van provides - especially through a Canadian winter. You're absolutely right about how few things we actually NEED though!

Wishing you both the BESTEST this life can offer… and you're not crazy I'm hoping to upgrade to a van… because I lived in my Hyundai Sante Fe over these last winter months by choice to see if I could do it. We were 'lucky' in the West this year because it was a considerably milder winter then normal. I only recall one week total of bitter cold weather and I couldn't run the car overnight or have a heater. You two had a van of course and the bonus of BODY HEAT….lol I'll bet it was not only memorable but 'sealed the deal' because clearly you both look very happy together… Blessing's in life and all its adventures :) PS) Our stories mirror each other… odd. I travelled from the West to the East last summer and lived in the Sante Fe for four months… I loved it. Mind you after the winter decided need an upgrade :)

Awesome van, if we could all tolerate living in one for a yr or 2 we could all afford a nice home. Winters would be tough in Ontario though.

Good for you guys !!!!! You will be able to save soooo much money.. I had a van like yours, a few years ago. But with the 3 kids ( got crowded fast )
We bought some land in New Brunswick, and next summer hope to start building a off grid tiny house on a 30 foot trailer.

Really enjoyed the videos. I live in Ontario ( Southern Ontario actually) as well and I would love to do the full time thing but always thought it would be too much of a challenge to stay warm. I'm happy to see that you guys show that it's possible. Your van is awesome. I've always liked the living small concept.

Marty L. We were pretty nervous about the winter at first too. But as time went on and the temperatures dropped, we eventually realized that it's completely doable. Our furnace pumps out plenty of heat, and we spent a lot of time finding and sealing drafts and cold spots. But most nights, after the first 5 minutes or so, we were toasty warm! :) Thanks for watching!
