His memories were however suppressed. This resulted in rise of Pyramid Head, the manifestation of his guilt and desire for punishment. PH chases and torments James throughout the game until the end where James comes on terms with his actions. In movies it is Alessa who gives rise to this monster. The absence of a father figure in her life coupled with her insecurities and desire of vengeance for what the cult did to her, especially her aunt branding her a witch and burning her alive, makes this monster come to life. Therefore PH in movies acts an executioner destined to act on Alessa/Heather's agendas and protect her. (I kind of took both the movies to summarize this.)
So if we want to be generous. Considering that the girl had been beating herself up about multiple things (losing her mom, losing her dad) the Pyramid head might have been there to punish her, however when the cult started pulling its nonsense the dimension itself could have said “NO, this ends” and sent the executioner to kill Claudia. However now that the girl completed her Arc, Pyramid head wasn't needed and so left.
I've often thought about the possibility of a movie that basically works like a slasher horror version of the Punisher, where the killer of the movie is stalking and killing criminals like drug dealers and rapists, exacting poetically just punishments on them with each kill being uniquely tied to the wrongs they've committed against the innocent, the protagonist of the movie being a detective or other law enforcement officer who is hunting down the killer vigilante to bring him to justice. The ending would actually have the two team up to take out an untouchable mob boss who has the detective's family assassinated near the climax of the movie over a misunderstanding where the detective is blamed for the vigilante's brutal murder of said mob boss's relative and/or lieutenant.
Wanted to comment on Pyramid Head being Jame's monster exclusively. Yes, the one in Silent Hill 2 is, this is not that pyramid head. The one in SH2 has a square pyramid, white gloves, and carries a sword meant to be half of a pair of scissors. This is not that pyramid head, this is a different thing entirely that just looks similar. It's still lazy as hell and Konami just wants to cash in on a framchise, but it isn't as disrespectful as you might think.

The original movie was a “different take” and like I said, my first experience with Silent Hill. Silent Hill Revelations took out everything that made the first one good. Ruined the continuity and characters of the first movie because it can’t decide if it wants to be a sequel of the first movie or an adaptation of the third game. And it fails pretty bad at both. It was meant to be a canon sequel to the first movie. You can enjoy it if you want, I don’t care, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was universally hated.

Considering that the girl had been beating herself up about multiple things (losing her mom, losing her dad) the Pyramid head might have been there to punish her, however when the cult started pulling its nonsense the dimension itself could have said “NO, this ends” and sent the executioner to kill Claudia. However now that the girl completed her Arc, Pyramid head wasn't needed and so left.

Actually, there's something cool about the stereotypical slasher killer being a good guy for once.

I've often thought about the possibility of a movie that basically works like a slasher horror version of the Punisher, where the killer of the movie is stalking and killing criminals like drug dealers and rapists, exacting poetically just punishments on them with each kill being uniquely tied to the wrongs they've committed against the innocent, the protagonist of the movie being a detective or other law enforcement officer who is hunting down the killer vigilante to bring him to justice.
The ending would actually have the two team up to take out an untouchable mob boss who has the detective's family assassinated near the climax of the movie over a misunderstanding where the detective is blamed for the vigilante's brutal murder of said mob boss's relative and/or lieutenant.

Wanted to comment on Pyramid Head being Jame's monster exclusively. Yes, the one in Silent Hill 2 is, this is not that pyramid head. The one in SH2 has a square pyramid, white gloves, and carries a sword meant to be half of a pair of scissors. This is not that pyramid head, this is a different thing entirely that just looks similar.
It's still lazy as hell and Konami just wants to cash in on a framchise, but it isn't as disrespectful as you might think.

It RUINED the continuity of the FILM franchise. The movie retconned so much that it was a disaster. Why even make a sequel if you’re going to change literally everything that happened in the movie that preceded the new one? I loved and adored the first Silent Hill movie, it’s what got me into the games. But the sequel messed everything up. The original movie was a “different take” and like I said, my first experience with Silent Hill. Silent Hill Revelations took out everything that made the first one good. Ruined the continuity and characters of the first movie because it can’t decide if it wants to be a sequel of the first movie or an adaptation of the third game. And it fails pretty bad at both. It was meant to be a canon sequel to the first movie. You can enjoy it if you want, I don’t care, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was universally hated.
