We’ve seen many football games end in the same-old fashions. QB kneels...game-winning field goals, incomplete Hail Marys...and so on, and so forth.
But throughout the years, football fans have witnessed some of the most unimaginable endings that you’d only expect to see in a glitch-filled Madden video game.
Sometimes, reality is stranger than imagination. Just take a look at these 15 instances in which teams found the most humiliating and awful ways to lose a game.

I'm a Saints fan too and I remember not only did he miss Diggs he tackled Crawley the only other Saints player that could have possibly been able to stop Diggs.
@Reilly LeBlond there was actually holding on that play i think. I remember the de getting side armed blocked or something.
Actually it wouldn't have necessarily been over. What people forget about that is at that angle he would have been hit out of bounds and he caught it within field goal range and they were only down one. Even without the whif saints probably lose that game

Coming from a Titans fan, I recall a few years back the Titans were leading the Browns at home 28 to 3 at halftime. The Browns would rally from 25 points back in the 2nd half to win the game and successfully pulling off the biggest road deficit comeback in NFL history and win 29 to 28. The Titans allowed the Cleveland Browns to make history, if thats not a humiliating loss Idk what is lol
That’s lions browns game was a heroic moment for Matt stafford where he got injured but came in to win the game. It’s one of my favorite lions game endings

He was frustrated and his teammates reported about him saying " I am going to Do Me"!!!! "I am returning that ball"!!! Proceeds to Fumble the Ball. Aaron Rodgers was pissed. LMFAO 😂😂😂😂!!!
49ers vs. Giants NFC Champ. game in 2011 I believe. 49er punt returner muffs punt in OT on his side of the field, gives Giants perfect FG position to win it on the recovery.

I remember watching the “Disaster at the Meadowlands” game on tv. It still hurts after all these years.
As a chiefs fan. I will forever remember the Dwayne Rudd moment. I thought we had lost and I went and did something else. And then I found out later that we somehow won the game. What a terrible way to lose a game. But to be fair. I dont think Dwayne Rudd could've possible accounted for big scott fujita to take a pitch from trent green and run down the sideline. What a crazy game that was.
Jason missed a perfect opportunity to highlight that the guy who returned that game winning fumble in The Miracle At The Meadowlands was none other than Herman “Hello, You Play To Win The Game” Edwards... something he famously said as coach of Jason’s beloved Jets.

Will Lyman I hate the pats so I wish the Seahawks would have won. My team may have lost to them in a super bowl in o5 but got the job done in super bowl 52. That definitely has to be one of the reasons bill lost respect for him and not signing him any better then a one year contract. Witch caused him not to renew and got to the trash bucks. I was thinking the same thing pretty boneheaded move to pass on the one yard line into a savant defense when you have Marshawn Lynch, who was borderline unstoppable that year, in your backfield. I’m a pats fan so I loved it but I would imagine some salty Seahawks fans would be “ticked” to see that lol.

The Seahawks had tried running for short shortage first downs earlier in the game
and were stopped both times. If they had tried running again and didn't make it,
they would have been second guessed for that decision. Coaches always get second
guessed when their decisions fail.

That's not really true. In fact it was so accepted that the Giants fired the head coach as a result of that play for not taking a knee and running it instead

No it was either a Sunday or Monday night game against the packers. They were behind but caught up and either had a chance to win it or take it to overtime but they jumped early and iced their kicker cause he made the first kick but missed the second

Miracle in Motown when the packers were at Detroit and the packers had to complete a Hail Mary to win and it was incomplete but there was a facemask so they got an extra chance and Aaron Rodgers completed the 50 yard Hail Mary to Richard Rodgers to win

The reason for no kneel down on the Miracle at the Meadowlands is because it was not a part of the game yet. Most teams either ran the ball or called a QB sneak. Herm Edwards and others have talked about that before. They even said that the next week they installed a play for the QB to take the snap and fall down.

Game with Garrett icing his own kicker: Cowboys still would have missed Playoffs. Giants finished 9-7 and Cowboys finished 8--8. Even if Cowboys won cardinals game, they would be 9-7 and still don't make Playoffs because Giants beat Cowboys twice.

The events that preceded #13 make it even worse for the Bengals... Burfict had intercepted a Landry Jones pass fairly deep in Steelers territory with under 2 minutes left, and the Bengals had the chance to run it a few times to either set up an easy FG to go up by 4, or get a 1st down and run out the clock. But Jeremy Hill fumbled the ball, and the Steelers recovered to set up the final drive. A drive where, incidentally, Roethlisberger came back in after being carted off (due to an injury that also _happened_ to involve Burfict) under a hail of trash and beer thrown by Bengals fans. What an awful game.

I remember a Chargers' playoff game (Marty era) where it's the last minutes of regulation and they're up. The other team has the ball. The Chargers get an interception. But instead of just going down after to kneel to end the game, for some stupid reason the player tries to return it and fumbles. The other team recovered. They end up scoring and winning the game. It was heart breaking and unbelievable.

The reason why the Giants didn't kneel at the Miracle at the Meadowlands was because kneeling at the time was considered cowardly. The person who called for the ill-begotten play, offensive coordinator Bob Gibson, was fired the following day and never coached in any level of football for the rest of his natural life.

I remember that Rams/Browns game well. I'm pretty sure that at that point in the season, we were cheering for whoever the Rams were playing because if we lost everything for the rest of the season, we might have had a chance at getting Andrew Luck in the draft. It looked like a really stupid challenge of who could suck more, the Rams or the Colts, since they were awful that season as well. Ultimately, we couldn't even lose well, as seen in the video above. The Browns choked and failed to win the game. The Rams choked and failed to lose it. No Luck for us.
Hey TPS, how about a list of 'Only the Lions' moments? Since their last championship there's gotta be plenty of notable instances that showcase why this franchise has been near the bottom over the last 62 years.

The QB kneel didn't work like it does today. On the previous play the giants QB got nailed by one of the Eagles players, so in order to protect him from getting another cheap shot they decided to hand the ball off to Larry Czonka (a notorious tough and gritty player), who could absorb a hard hit much easier. Then they screwed up the handoff and the rest is history.

You should check out the Chiefs vs Falcons game week 13 of the 2016 season. Falcons take a 1 point lead with less than 5 minutes left so they went for 2 in attempt to make it a 3 point game. The 2 point conversion got picked off by Eric Berry for 2 the other way, giving the Chiefs the 1 point lead instead. The Falcons never got the ball back.

Detroit scores 2 TD'S in the waning seconds of regulation to force OT. Titans win the coin toss, take their opening drive down field to score a FG. Lions get the ball, drives down to the 10(?) yard line. On 4th & 1, QB Shaun Hill (Matt Stafford was injured in the game) was under center. C Dominic Raiola snaps the ball, much to the chagrin of Hill. It's a fumble, Lions recover, but recover it short of the 1st down marker. Sticks come out to measure, ball is short, game over

Week 16 of the 2016. The Chargers are playing the winless browns and the Chargers blow two field goals in the 4th quarter to lose 17-20. That was a very sad day.
I don't think the Cowboys icing their own kicker should be on the list just because I have seen other teams do it to and it doesn't seem so spectatorly bad

The Rudd penalty for removing his helmet AFTER the play, when the clock was at 0! Is maybe the worst call ever. Honestly what a pathetic way to hand an underserved win to a team.

@@Base950Y Yep. Trent Green was not down and lateraled it to another player. Rudd took off his helmet DURING the play. Rudd thought he had Green down, but didn't follow the basic rule of playing to the whistle. There was no whistle.
