- Fedor Gorst vs Albin Ouschan from the semi-finals of the 2022 International Open Big Foot 10-Ball Challenge.
Gorst, 22, and Ouschan, 32, are two of Europe’s absolute best players today. Gorst had won the Arizona Open, Derby City Classic Banks and One Pocket, and Ohio Open titles in 2022, while Ouschan had won the Premier League Pool and European Open titles. Both of these players are a danger to take down any tournament they play in.
Mark Wilson and John Schmidt were in the commentary box.

I think there was a time, in my lifetime that pool was considered a game, definitely not a sport. And a questionable game at that. Nevertheless, it would appear that through tremendous effort and dedication has allowed the modern professional pool player to fully come of age evolving and elevating this activity to sport status. Terrific job to all of us, pro or armature who has in someway, over the years, contributed to these pro tournaments becoming reality.

What was wrong with a purple 4 ball? Hard to tell the 4 from the 5 with this set. Go deep, read on.
Then there’s the set that changed the 4 to pink and the 5 to purple confusing commentators, fans and even pros. Not to mention the set that made the 6 and 7 nearly the same making it almost impossible to tell the difference on screens when plaid on a blue clothe.
There’s actually a logic to the traditional colours (I suspect derived from Pythagorus and having some cosmic significance:) This scheme also determines what number to assign to the first three colours:
1, 2 and 3 are primary colours. 4 combines 2 and 3 (purple); 5 combines 1 and 3 (orange); 6 combines 1 and 2 (green); 7 combines 1, 2 and 3 (brown), and finally the mid-way 8-ball is black combining all the colours.
There’s even a logic which determines which primary colours to combine for the 4-6 which also determines the colours of 1-3: If one adds the number of each of the derived colour balls 4-6 with the numbers of the two primary coloured balls that creates its colour, one always comes up with the number 9, (e.g., 4+2+3=9 and so on.)
Somebody obviously gave this a bit of thought only to be messed with by some marketing idiot. I suspect changing this scheme invokes some kind of ancient curse from the billiard gods…at least I hope so.
Making the 4 and 6 a lighter shade is the only improvement necessary for TV coverage; so THANK YOU Predator for showing respect, not trying to make a fashion or political statement and leaving it the $#!+ alone! Just make great pool balls.
Nobody playing at this level wears glasses. They probably go with contacts. But you'd think some of them would have worn glasses earlier in their careers. I don't see that to be the case. What pros wore glasses when they've played? Maybe in the past?

@@MsTyrie even Alex wear it one time in the world cup. It's hard to play with glasses, I think I would play better with contacts

what are you saying exactly, if a player has bad vision and needs glasses they cannot be a pro player? We do not see every match a pro player plays. Just look at the Dress Code, when Tv Table SVB dresses neatly. When competing in a Pool Hall its Cargo Shorts and a T Shirt. Maybe same with Glasses. Didnt Steve Mizerak wear Glasses later in life. Savannah Easton wears glasses. Alot players put glasses on when they are not playing, so are they wearing contacts? Are they needed to play? it depends, near sited or far sited, etc...?

Fedor grew up playing on a 10’…. I don’t thinks these guys understand the angles and that he’s not scared of some of the shots that they might be.
Geez, am I a dinosaur. Back when I was playing the cloth was slow and you had to have a stroke. Now they all use an open bridge on fast cloth use a cue made out of fiberglass like a fishing pole. I would love to have played some the these guys on a 10 footer with slow cloth on a humid Arkansas day.

Small table and big pockets. They talk like the table and game is so much tougher than on a 9 footer yet they think pool is as tough as Snooker on a 6x12 😂
Who is the “Jerry” that Mark Wilson mentions at 54:58-55:00??? A pool player who ran 100 balls on a 5 by 10 after only a year and half. Pool historians help a young man out.
Jerry Brieseth. Most well known for teaching and coaching. He's also a big fan of the game. Always front row at all of the big American tournaments.
Schmidt talks just to talk, almost non-stop. Insincere player compliment after compliment . . like he and JJ think we don't like dead air, but . . . Guess what? We like calm commentary where it is *interesting* . . . not droning droning droning . . . Just shut up now and then. Make comments on the direct play . . . We don't need your psychological profiling of them, your story of meeting them or what they're wearing for crying out loud. You know what, I'll use the mute, I don't care what you guys do
