Was your sister the one on the left or right in Sydies Tomorrow performance. I APPRECIATE how the show brings them both into the video, and they were on camera a lot 😊 Especially at the last verse when Sydnie sings at the VERY end, she looks in the crowd singing I Love You to her Nana's. VERY cool. I tear up right there EVERY time I see that. So cool. Love Sydnie, like would drive 100's of miles to see Sydnie live. UNFORTUNATELY I live in the middle of the USA, State of Missouri, St. Louis and the arch. Sydnie will give Adele a run for her $$$ in a couple years. Sydnie will be a SUPERSTAR 😊
They were both amazing but Sydney just reached out and swept us up and carried us into the story. she captured us and kept us wanting more. TOTALLY Amazing - looking forward to hearing more from her.
The song is about hope and I love how she starts us out on the musical journey with the sadness of the existing reality, builds it to the hope of a better future and then brings us back to reality at the end with her soft voice full of doubt. Wonderful rendition.
That is such an accurate description. Yes, Jimmie said he wanted to show the world his capabilities while Sydney (Sydnie?) wanted to display her ability to tell a story with emotive expression. Cheers!
The difference between her and many other good singers is when she sings, the song comes alive. You somehow feel the song talking to you and it hits you emotionally. It is not just a very good voice but a very good voice that tells you a story. Her expression is excellent. Just standing there and singing with so much emotions that it just makes you fell in love with her singing
Hi! Thank you for reacting to Sidney! I have not much more to add, you've said it all. I'm just in awe of her abilitity to draw us in completely, to connect with the emotion of the song and take us along on that. And I love her musical choices, so beautiful and touching always. It's all connected to the emotion, never just showing off, it's all connected to the message, to the purpose of telling a story from her heart to ours. That's why, it all put together, made the performance so engaging right from the get-go. Did you see how Bruno leans forward after the very first notes? That was all of us, too. I think she's brilliant in everyway, starting from her humble and loving heart. So rooting for her! Thank you again! 🙏❤✨
I saw Annie on Broadway with Andrea McArdle. I fell in love with the song. I never heard a version that I loved as much or more until Sydney Christmas. She is masterful.
Thank you Johan, this was such an amazing comparison. I really enjoyed Jimmy’s performance, but to be honest Sydney’s performance of the song really stirred deep emotions in me and I actually sat sobbing afterwards. It was incredibly profound and it just shows what performers are capable of and has really inspired me to work even harder. I so honour you for who you are and for showing us what is possible.
Good break down, but i think its the incredible mix of subtle changes at the right moments (that includes calmness, clarity, excitement, emotional tone) that really set Sydney's performance as more a beautiful arrangement rather then a spontaneous release...well crafted......well executed.....well received...
She made a song that is associated with bratty kids, into something far more adult. The depth of emotions she gave it, the big build up, full of hope and longing and then suddenly back to the realisation that tomorrow never comes. EXCEPTIONAL
Sydney's performance was Spectacularly, wonderfully, personal and intimate. She is 100% Pro. I also found her to be quite Classic Barbra Streisand esque. Can't wait to hear and see what next she does.
I fell in love with Sydnie the first time I saw her perform this. She's a brilliant talent. In my opinion, having watched BGT since season 1, Sydnie just forneden in best vocal ever. ❤ I'm a total Sydnie fanboy now. ❤
I totally agree, how she made it her own song without damaging the song in the process marks her as a talent to keep an eye on. I think Brian Justin Crum (from AGT) has a similar talent. BTW - the two older ladies are her grandmothers. They appeared with her on a British morning show, Lorraine, after her BGT performance. What is special about that appearance is how deep they go into a British accent on that show. I can only follow about half the dialog (I'm from the United States). I suspect they edit BGT to make it a little easier for American audiences to understand. It is an interesting contrast,
Yes the two older ladies are infact sydnies grandmothers who have trawled the audition circuit with her since she was a teenager. They had never heard her sing that version of the song either.
I loved this analysis. I don't understand the issue Simon has with this song, but at least he changed his view after each of these performances, and I love listening to both and appreciating each one for their special interpretations. Thank you for your insights into their presentations. Cheers from Australia!
@grahamrankin5557 - Oh, I fully understand Simon, as I share his despise for original, in my case its personal aversion to corny musical style… sort of Acquired Musical Deficiency Syndrome
I just saw your critique of the Jimmy and Sydney’s version of the song Tomorrow as great as these songs were, your critique was just as amazing. You have a talent Sir. You have gained a follower…
I absolutely loved Sydnie's rendition. I loved all her performances . I hope and think she will be on WestEnd/Broadway but...I just went and checked ot Brabra Streisand in a little video called "Barbra Streisand (Tomorrow Live 1978)" And when you see that effortless, pre pitchcorrection etc, live in front of a philharmonic orchestra perfection...well, it once again makes you realize there is a whole different level existing. As for jimmy...not even close to Sydnie imo. very generic average rendition and voice. Excellent reaction video btw👍
Mr Bester, I think the word you’re searching for in this performance is intimacy. Platonic, not romantic. Ms Christmas has a style that brings ppl in to experience the emotions she’s singing to an extraordinary degree. Whatever happens in this contest, her talent and hard work (equally important) are front and center. TY for your insights. I learned from this vid!
I've watched Her performance, many times, and I must say that your review tops a number of others that I have watched - by miles in my opinion - and not only because I'm from RSA! She is brilliant and I agree with your "critique" in every way
with Sidney, Annie grew up. it's no longer the chirpy sound of innocence, but the warm, mature tone of hope, despite all odds. Sidney truly resonates and connects with us emotionally. that's her superpower.
This rendition or version of Tomorrow by Sydnie was actually from another singer named Marisha Wallace. So it really is not an original arrangement by Sydnie. I do love Sydnie's take on it though, she has more feelings and is seamless in her vocal than Marisha.
I saw Annie on stage in the early 80's (in Chicago, Ill.). Sydnie Christmas sang Annie as her own. Jimmie Herrod and all other singers (including the original) were a 9 or 10. Sydney's version was a 12 out of 10 in comparison.
Given his body language and the grimace on his face I was sure he was going to declare the performance to have been awful, pathetic, and abysmal. I loved how she came to the end of the song, built it up ... and then delivered a quiet, gentle, soft landing. I thought it was amazing, brilliant. Given his mannerisms I thought he hated it. I'm much relieved that he found it ... beautiful. It was. ❤
I have an honest question for johan. When you're not recording, and say driving listening to music. Does this go through your head. Or can you just listen to a song?
Changing Melody are Tricky Since the original Melody quite Catchy and rememberable. BUT if the "Original Melody" was simple "boring" something people get SICK of 😂😂😂😂 ( Like the Happy Birthday, National Athem, Somewwhere over the boring.....) a slight Melody Changing Would be a PLEASANT FOR THE LISTENER 😅😅😅 it's like normal Plain food but today we have a little seasoning ❤❤❤
Interesting the thing you said about changing melody. That´s the only thing I have against Eva Cassidy´s version of Over The Rainbow. It´s a lovely version in many ways, but she starts with not leading the listener "right" into the song with the original melody, but changes it from the start. I don´t think that´s how to do it, and won´t bring justice to the song, no matter how brilliant it is performed in whole.
Personal preference will always and ultimately determine to what degree a specific version of a well known song touches us, hey... Thanks for your comment 🙋🏻♂️
Could you please do a comparison video between Erik Gronwall singing his cover version of I will always love you live Streamed on Apr 19, 2024 versus Judika also singing his cover version of I will always love you Live at a wedding at Balai Samudera on December 21, 2017.
So many youtubers making reaction videos just to get clicks. You sir are a professional and speak words of wisdom. Seriously great job on this one and yes, she could be the next Barbara Streisand though hopefully without the lunatic woke politics Barbara spews.
First about you Mr. Johan… as I find your presentation as amazing as Sydney's performance… could watch both over and over… which is why I just couldn't resist to subscribe, in spite this is not my area. Sydney got me the way she obviously got everybody… a new shining star, exploding as a supernova. Her appearance is captivating, magnetic, her facial expressions locked my eyes… in short, I watched her audition… who knows how many times. The intensity of surprise and performance I would compare with that of Susan Boyle… also Sidney made very smart choice of her casual outfit. As of Jimmie and comparing him with Sidney, to my opinion is absurd… and I cannot be objective here, because I despise male voices which sound like those from castrates.
Peu être que la petite fille (Annie) chante simplement un lende main joyeux qui va venir...et Sydnie chante plus un nouvel espoir dans le lendemain 🤔 Vasavoir 🤗😉
Thank you for sharing just another great reaction video of yours. Apart from the fact that I really liked it, I am still processing the very beginning of your reaction video when you sang this song yourself. I am not sure what your intentions were but it felt sooooo much out of place, that I had then some problems to concentrate on the two performances you reacted to... Lol :) I hope that I did not offend you by saying this - not my intention at all, just expressing how puzzled I was when I saw this :)
Thanks for your comment. My funzees in the beginning was just a fun moment we had while filming, so my editor thought it would be fun to insert at the beginning. We're always trying new things to make it entertaining to my audience - I'm sorry it bothered you 😅
The second version by Sydney unfortunately did not connect with me. It is not a version that I would readily put on repeat. It was just too different; however I do appreciate that others were moved by it. Her transitions took me out of the performance.

Yes the two older women in the audience are her Grandmothers. One being my Sister. Sydnie my Great Niece. We are so proud ❤
She's special.....the sun did come out.
Now she just won the whole BGT! 🥳🥳🥳
