Of course the audience always gets it right. They are the ones who buy the tickets to her performances. They are the ones who buy the music. They are the 50,000 000+ people who went online and viewed her performances. The people know what they like, and they like Sydnie Christmas.
Agreed. I’m not a Taylor Swift fan, but her audience loves her performances bc she is in fact a good performer and write songs/stories for her target audience. I’m just not part of that audience. Same with jazz music. Not a fan, but those who know jazz I imagine will let performers know if they’re good or not.
I am a huge fan of Sydnie. Can't get enough of her. I hear you on the theater/theatre aspect of this performance, but I think it is also important to consider what this was: she had 150 seconds, give or take, to secure her spot in the final. 150 seconds. It's difficult to argue with her performance in that context. Of the three songs she sang, this was my least favorite, but that is sorta like saying that of my three favorite ice creams, Haagen Das vanilla is my 3rd favorite. It still beats 99% of my other food choices even in third place. She is stunning. Her voice is incredible. I would buy any album she released right now, and any concert tickets I could find, even without having heard any more than three songs, and I can't remember the last time I could say something like that about a singer. Huge fan.
You know we live in a world where there is so much criticism, I think the connection we get with Sydnie is how humble she is about her singing. She says she learned so much being on the show with the vocal coach. I think we will continue to see her grow.
She mentioned in an interview after she won that she gives so much credit to the BGT vocal coach. Sydnie said she learned more in 2 months with her than in 3 years at music school. And now she can afford to hire her with her winnings.
Loren Allred versus Sydnie Chritmas.I wonder who is the better singer. That being said, could you please do a comparison video between Loren Allred singing her cover version of Somewhere over the Rainbow during the semifinals of the Agt fantasy league 2024 versus Sydnie Christmas also singing her cover version of Somewhere over the Rainbow on Britain's Got talent 2024?I wonder who will come out victorious.😮😮❤😮❤
@@craigbrown6437 I think somebody already did that. I hate to see those comparisons, especially since they are 2 of my favorite singers, and Sydnie said Loren is her idol. In fact, she originally refused to sing Over The Rainbow in deference to Loren, but Loren sent her a video encouraging her to sing it. 2 wonderful people.
I think her vocals would resonate through that entire auditorium, That visceral impact on the listener, probably would be a far more emotive experience. Sydnie I suspect she would have a musical theatre background. To me her performance is very theatrical and expressive.
Yes, theater is her passion and goal, so I guess she also wanted to use this big exposure to showcase her capacity for musical theater to the agencies out there, which was more than clever of her. Cause she does sing other styles, she's got some groovy pop music out, but she'd have never gotten the attention of the musical theater industry if she had chosen other styles of singing. She was really smart and managed to make the absolute most of this opportunity! I'm so happy for her! Will love to watch your reaction to her finale performance! Thanks so much for this one! 🙏💖✨
Well, she made it clear from the get-go that doing musical theatre on the West End IS HER DREAM and GOAL! So...of course she is wise to showcase her "musical theatre-y-ness"!!!
Ya know, I really like this Pavarotti dude, but he's just a little too operatic for me, and I wish Anne Wison of Heart had done a lot more singer/songwriter folk music.🤣
I do agree what Simon Cowell said is correct about the audience always gets it right. I learned from being in retail sales that the customer is always right....or at least need to feel they got a good deal ie been respected. Saying this to say it's the audience that is going to buy her theater tickets and go to her youtube channels for views and appletunes to buy her tunes. So I firmly believe the audience is hers to gain or lose, and she's definitely won over the audience with her charm and talent.
Hi Johan…she is by far one of the finest performers musically. Her phrasing and dynamics brings about the emotional response from so many. I think your response to her would be dramatically different if you were there live. Her ability to get so many to respond emotionally through a computer screen is amazing.
Do review her Over the Rainbow. As you probably know, she won BGT 2024. Yes, it was musical theatre, but in a 4 thousand seat theater not an intimate cabaret, it worked
You mentioned it being theater like which I think is being done to get the West End powers to be peak their interest. I have said from her first song that this is Sydne’s resume audition. Three iconic songs sung in a fresh way, resonating with the audiences, which will drive so many to the shows she gets cast in. Beautifully prepared, and then executed almost flawlessly. I would pay $500 per show to see her. Just beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Since Sydnie wants to do musical theater, it probably isn’t surprising that she gives a theatrical vibe to her interpretation and hence her performance. I think I would fly to London or New York to see her in a West End or Broadway performance.
This guy comes off smug and soulless. How can you not be moved by this performance? I’d like to see a performance of someone he thinks about the same way we all think about this one. Very curious to see what that would be and compare between the two.
I agree totally with everything you’ve said I loved tomorrow this one not so much but her voice is is stuck in times gone by amazing …love her personality too a deserved winner ❤
She said in her first audition that she wanted to do musical theater, so I think she’s making sure we don’t forget that, even if it’s a little over the top.
I really enjoy listening to coaches identify the vocal attributes within a performance. It's kind of sad though when it seems that you can't just enjoy the song for what it makes you feel. I am not very knowledgeable of vocal skills, But when I feel the goosebumps, and the moment moves me emotionally, I can say I love it. No one can say that I, or the audience is wrong
Your spot on, I love the drama she brings to her performances here, and i agree it has to be used carefully and sparely. But when she switched the lyrics to the feminine, it's appropiate, I think. Her personal anthem and possibly for all women!
I have all ways wish I was a critic of singers. I set and listen to people singing, and think of how they should have worded it just like you were doing sir. I know she didn’t get all of the pronouncing of the words out, and at some of the ending of a word. But I have to say this about her. She did do a great job. She is a star in the making. 👍🌟 🥰 🐾 🌟👍
I thought I couldn’t understand some words at first too but listened to different recordings and could understand her. The Rainbow song has skips in it. It’s not the best quality recording either from the BGT channel. I’m not sure what the strange stylistic things are. I love her gestures and style changes so much. I think they’re perfect for the lyrics. She has a theatre background. She said her goal is the West End. Her eyes speak the most. This is the first time I’ve heard criticism about it.
I mean one of the greatest women singers of all time sings in this manner called Barbra streisand! In fact most of the greatest female singer's have that musical theatre like tone.
I'd love to hear your opinion of Sydnie Christmas vs Abi Carter. I know who I prefer but I don't have a trained ear or knowledge to tell who is actually better at what.
To the maker of this video i have a request. Here is my request: Could you please do a comparison video between Sydnie Christmas singing her cover version of Somewhere over the Rainbow during the finals of Britain’s Got Talent 2024 versus Loren Allred also singing her cover version of Somewhere over the Rainbow at the semifinal stage of the AGT: Fantasy League 2024.I would love for you to react to both performances in one video. In this video after listening to both performances one after the other i would love for you to compare and contrast the two performances by outlining the similarities and differences in their approach to the song and their vocal styles and abilities. This should be a showstopper.
hahaha agreed.."the audience" is NOT always right. Or we'd have very different " idols" and people like oh, say Cecilia Bartoli would be household names instead of the Taylor Swifts of this world. Also not a big fan of Musical Theater here but this was an excellent performance with a highly satisfying endnote. I will "forgive" Sydnie the genre stylings because I understand that is the direction she wants to go in her career and it makes sense to then show off your abilities in that direction on a platform like this.
Please react to a song from the blind auditions in South America. "The Click Song" sang by Siki Jo-An. It's a very unique song and would love to hear how the clicking in her voice works.
Yes - I guess you have to “listen” again to how Sydnie perform here - maybe it was just your sound system -- but she was awesome in this rendition - expressing her feminine strength & gutsy self in this song … instead of the hopeful gal in “tomorrow”. In Somewhere over the rainbow -- she expressed her “amen” she’s find the pot of gold, somehow, over the rainbow. Truly theatrical Sydnie in a 3 different songs. Maybe that’s why she can’t get into the west end. -- ‘won’t fit in’ too good for whatever is there now. Impresario is what she needs. Just a personal observation, this! Thanks much for your reaction, you’re good!
I agree that her singing of Tomorrow was a better choice then this song My Way. It was a bit showy this song it felt like a performance in a musical rather then a competition. She was able to control her voice and perform the song well but it did not draw me in as much as her first song. The song in the finals was fantastic and I think it will be "her song" if she continues to perform shows rather then go to the West End or wear ever she ends up.
... and for whatever it's worth, I think Simon is right. The audience is the most important judge of anything. Does that produce some crap? Yes it does. So much modern music is just electronic nonsense. But there are also a LOT of incredibly talented musicians who feel disdain about how they are misunderstood by the public that are waiting tables for a living (or working front of house for a gym). Having something to say counts, yes, but so does having someone who will listen.
