I have it. Yes it’s bigger than I would love, but I absolutely love this watch. My grandmother says it reminds her of her dads watch. Just cause of that, this will forever remain in my collection.
Thank you Thank you Teddy. I had asked you for a review of this watch and poof, you did it! I pulled the trigger and got this gem in July from my wife for our 35th wedding anniversary. I have been eyeing it up fro about a year prior. I love my Khaki mechanical, but this one dresses up nicely. My favorites about this watch revolve around the vintage vibe, and all that you listed on this fabulous review. The railroad track, the raised Roman numerals, the textured white face, the awesome sapphire domed crystal and the handsome BLUE hands. It has a nicer modern presence that I like. I am thrilled to have this gem, my second Hammy! Thanks again for your thoughtful discussions!
Very late congratulations in your wedding anniversary. I really love the look of this piece and I was wondering - do you think with a change of strap it could pass off as a daily watch? (Maybe some kind of classic brown leather strap)
This is good timing. My father was just telling me last night that he thinks his next watch buy should be a new dress watch. This is an interesting one, which I will show him. He has around a 7.5" (maybe slightly bigger) wrist, so he could pull it off easily.
Got mine today!!! Found this gem in Macys by accident. Went for the Khaki Field and picked both up. Love it!!! The size is perfect not big at All. I will be honest I’m wearing it nonstop starting today.
Holey moley, I had the completely wrong Idea about this watch's size from reading the official listed dimensions! Glad I watched this video. Thanks Teddy
Can you hear the "tick-tick-tick" on this one? I just got a Seagull 1963 and one of the pleasures of hand-wind mechanical watches is hearing its "heartbeat."
That ticking is _any_ mechanical watch's escapement, not just hand wound pieces. Based off of my collection, "Swiss" movements tick louder than the rest.
A fine review of a handsome watch. Bear in mind, though, that Hamilton offers a number of smaller Boulton alternatives. I happen to own one of them. So the size issue here testifies to Hamilton's variety.
I own these Boultons and they last about 85 hours on one pull. I have the blue version of this watch. So far, the only drawback is that the matte hands blend a little with the blue dial.
@@thetruth495 It’s 34x38, yes but it’s a full 50mm diagonally. At 1:47 you can see it on a 7.6 inch (19.4cm) wrist where the lug to lug stretches almost to the edges of the wrist. 7.6 inches in circumference is above average so if it looks big in 7.6 inches, it’s gonna look downright goofy on a below average wrist. A “large” Cartier Tank is 28x34 and, personally I think that is far more appropriate sizing for a rectangular case.
Funny, no one said anything about Ali wearing the Cartier Tank. The need for validation is large (pun intended) in the watch community. Taste can’t be taught, but I appreciate you trying.
I've had this watch for a year now and like it even more. The classic leather band softened up nicely. The classic Hamilton look is so timeless. IT IS NOT too big! All you size haters on classic looking watches need to step back. This is by far my favorite dress-up watch. I have several other dress watches from the 80's and 90's and they all feel like toys compared to this modern classic piece. I wear a tux often in my music career and this watch is always on my wrist when I need to dress up. I love to wear it when dressing down a bit too. I haven't worn it with shorts yet. Ahaa.
I love the look of this piece. I need to see one in person to get a better feel for the watch, but it looks beautiful. I wish the L2L would be closer to 47mm. Nice share Teddy!
I’ve just purchased this one - after thinking of it for a while. The 51mm Lug To Lug is miss leading as the strap drops right down due to the extended limit design. Teddy saying 41/42mm is perfect description.
What a great looking piece and a great review Teddy, a good alternative to the more expensive Longines Dolce Vita. I think I should take a look at the both side by side and seeing how they look on the wrist. I'm not that bothered about automatic or not having the date complication so I guess it would boil down to aesthetics and comfort.
I'm seriously thinking of getting this one. I've been looking for a curved back tank and this one's a beauty. And the price is right also. Nice review!
1:37 it states 300m Water Resistant? Surely this is a typo? The Hamilton website says 50m unless I'm looking at a different watch? I'm reslly hoping Teddy's right though....
35 x 38 sounds good, but it does look larger than that. I have a 7.25" wrist and an affinity for mid 20th century watches so I prefer the look of the 'Lady's' Boulton more, at least in videos - I've yet to see one in person.
Great review Teddy. I actually like the larger size. So many of the vintage watches are so small compared to modern day watches that they just look off.
@@buzzrenren Not lug width my friend, the lug to lug dimension. From top to bottom. Hamilton keeps making watches that are too long for most people. In this case, too big for a dress watch.
I was really keen on this watch and nearly bought it but the lug to lug just seems too long. I'd want to try it first but unfortunately you can't buy Hamilton retail in Australia.

Thanks for a great review, Teddy. Would love to wear the mech. version, but it'd probably be too big for my wrists. Been looking at the smaller quartz version. However, is that officially a women's watch?
I own this watch and the polishing really is not all that. If you squint a bit, in between the lugs, you can see Hamilton didn't completely polish off some of the ridges. Every thing else seems pretty golden.
How the heck I missed this one for so long. I was pulling my hair out looking for a rectangular watch and none ( except obviously the reverso ) spoke to me ( Oris, Longines ). Now seen this one in blue and the search is over.
I love it I love the design and the size is good for me however is missing in my opinion (for that size) a day date window. I will get it if it had that included on the design
I also have this watch. It is nice enough, but pictures and videos of it belie its hugh size. Do not considerate it a cheaper alternative to a Tank Must, or anything Cartier. If you are looking for a poor man's Cartier, get the quartz "unisex" model.
Hey James, old comment but thought I'd reply anyway. It's actually easy to tell when a handwinder is fully wound; just wind it until you feel some resistance (usually about 30 winds on empty, 18-20 winds after that). To me it's better than an automatic because you know that it's good for the next day or so, no need to wonder if you've moved around in it enough like an automatic.
I'm sorry but this is a pass. The proportions are way off for this kind of watch. I rather have the "lady's" version, spot on real vintage mesurements and I really like the seconds sub-dial at 6, better that the word MECHANICAL. It's also cheaper because it's a quartz movement, yes a mechanical would be great but in this case design wins for me.

My blue Boulton arrived today. It is pretty much glued to my wrist.
A good example of a simple and timeless design that is still very handsome and relevant today.
