    I paid the $39 and in my opinion it was worth every penny! I don't mind paying extra for convenience and they've done all the work for me. I mean there are a couple of things that I have to set up for my own preference afterwards, but they did all the hard stuff for a newcomer to Linux. So I can pay $39 for a custom build of linux, or I can pay $239 for Windows 11. For my $39 I get a free and open source operating system, and that's free as in freedom, no ads, no telemetry, no spying. Or I can pay $239, get ads I didn't ask for, have all my keystrokes monitored, and everything I do spied on.
    To me the choice is easy.

    I've been running Zorin for about a year now, having gone from Win7 at EOL to Mint and then to Zorin as I upgraded my PC. It's a great distro, and I had no qualms with paying for the Pro version. Recommended.

      I'm considering switching over to Zorin, after Win 10 loses support in October 2025.
      I'm just making sure, all of the creative software I use & games I play on my PC are compatible with Zorin. I know by that time it will be even better.
      Zorin has caught my attention for sure as a Win 10 user.
      I'm not upgrading to Win 11, Microsoft can take a hike for all I care.

    Even though I don't use Zorin, I like supporting good products when I see them. I bought Zorin 16 and have free upgrades since. I also support a few other distro creators, even though I don't necessarily daily drive those OS'es. The only time I got scr..ed was with the infamous LinuxFX - I'll always regret every penny I gave those guys...

    Thanks for the great video. I embarked on my Linux journey a couple of months ago, after 40 years in the Windows and Mac world. Almost immediately I discovered Zorin OS Pro, took the plunge, and despite a bit of experimental distro-hopping between my half-dozen laptops (Macs and Thinkpads), I've become committed to Zorin. I'm still running MacOS on a couple of newer Macs, but I'm about to drop Windows from my last remaining Windows Thinkpad, and install Zorin. I'm thankful for the opportunity to extend the lives of my PCs without sacrificing anything in terms of functionality -- and as we say, it's FOSS. Goodbye to nearly all of my expensive subscription software!

    I brokered the partnership between Zorin and GDevelop (I'm GDevelop's Marketing Lead) to include GDevelop (a free and open-source 2D game engine) in Zorin OS 16.2 Education.

    • @MarcosCodas
      @MarcosCodas ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sumit.R that’s up to Zorin. We’re really happy to be part of Education and depending on how it’s received, maybe they’ll be interested in partnering up for their other spins. I’d love to see GDevelop on Zorin OS Pro, for example. It’d be a great fit with the rest of the apps in the suite.
      I think Core might be a tougher sell as they’d probably want to keep those installs lean for a user who wants a minimal starting point to then add only what they’ll use.
      But reach out to Zorin and let them know you’d like to see more GDevelop! We sure appreciate the support.
      And if you’re running other distros, you can get GDevelop as an app image or even a Flatpak from Flathub!

    I just finished setting up Zorin for my parents new computer. Wanted a computer that was safer for them without them needing to use terminal. Set up my dad's side to have a window's theme, but took a bit of work for my mom's side to look exactly like OSX using Gnome Tweaks, Extensions, etc. As a Linux noob (my first experience being Steam Deck), it's a bit daunting, but rewarding once it's done. Honestly, I really like it, and not sure why it isn't talked about more. Here's hoping my parent's like it!

    Zorin was what got me to switch from Windows to Linux. It's sort of KDE ish on their core version, but not quite. I didn't mind the layout so much but there was some things I couldn't get working - And some programs I couldn't get from the app store that I wanted to use. IN the end I opted for something that was KDE to get me going.
    But Zorin's a good starter distro if you're unfamiliar with Linux

    As a Windows refugee I have no desire to use Linux despite having using it since about 2016 when is when i daily drove it for about 2 years.
    I want a computer which just works & let's me do what I want, I would like to never touch a command line for even power user use cases.
    I fully support the ethos behind linux & GNU, of free & open source software, & I'm really glad to see ZorinOS offering a super clean Linux experience. I have it installed on my laptop. When Windows 10 goes end of life I'll be switching to Zorin on my primary desktop.
    I'm hoping by then the desktop experience has evolved to such a point that it can match if not exceed Windows in available of non-command line based operations. Until then it will be relegated to my travel computer, media machine & home server.

    I tried the free version of Zorin 16 and decided to purchase v.16.2 Pro to install on an old Acer AO756. I performed all of the tweaks after installing as the ONLY OS on my old Acer machine and was surprised by what it had left in it. If you are a nube to Linux or just looking to replace an older and unsupported version of Windows with something new that still has a familiar feel, try Zorin. For me it is definitely worth the $40 (US). Be sure to watch and follow some of the excellent TH-cam tutorials on how to tweak this OS to get the most from it and you will have a machine that is fun to use again and can hold it's own with any OS.

    I agree with you, paying for this pro option helps support the Zorin team's development. By reducing all the config choices that can be daunting and can cause disinterest with new users, I really think it's a good strategy. And new users can also load up something more challenging alongside Zorin, such as Arch to get familiar with the command line entries. I learned Linux back before there was a GUI and I would have really appreciated something like Zorin. It is a good product and I am enjoying its use. It is also an educational tool for my kids. Now even that is worth 39 bucks so I paid for it, what the hell....

    I've been using Zorin at least a year, but recently switch back to Windows. Three main reasons: I needed VirtualBox or Wine to be fully compatible Windows 98 & above hardware drivers & utilities when needed, my desktop was running notable slow (until I installed Windows 8.1 & I really wanted a Linux version of Potplayer. I have to admit, two areas where Zorin slaughters Windows is with the song recognition software "SongRec" and the video downloader "Ultimate downloader."

I'd use the free for now-- and if I decided to keep it for a bit- get the pro GLADLY-- it's GREAT.. and people get upset at that- but think nothing of paying $300 for WINDOWS plus paying for all the crap to go ON it-- and do that every year!!! (goofy thinking, but that's how they are).

    @davidwayne9982 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    YES- and that $39 gets PRO SUPPORT too... not just the run of the mill forum stuff etc... Besides, like I said before- better than paying $300 for WINDOWS-- every year- plus hundreds more for the other software you need-PLUS all the security crap you don't really need- and then having Microsoft tell you they OWN your machine... for the privilegs of paying them all that every year... $39 for this GREAT distro with EXCELLENT everything!!!! SURE!!! any time.

    Can someone tell me how to configure the Start Menu Taskbar to NEVER display Thumbnail Window Previews, but ALWAYS a vertical Text list of Windows open instead.
    This is the most aggravating thing about Zorin, having to visual scan these horizontal thumbnails across the bottom of your screen, until you reach some arbitrary number which it switches to a much more familiar and comfortable vertical text list. OMG I loathe these thumbnails so much. And if you ALT-TAB or whateve ryou get the same nonsense but in a grid pattern, which is utterly useless to me as a blind person as I can't see images. White text on black bagrounds, yes. Images, and window image previews... NO.

    I highly recommend Zorin over Linux Mint or Ubuntu. A beautiful user experience (not talking about how it looks but how it feels). Zorin 17 is coming and has super cool but not impressive features, including a more modern Gnome version and I never had drivers or another type or problems at work time
