- Eastleigh, Nairobi is known for its large Somali community as well as, its thriving commercial activity
The streets are lined with a variety of businesses selling a wide range of things.
The neighborhood is filled with countless restaurants, cafes, and food stalls where you can find authentic Somali dishes
There are also shops offering traditional Somali attire for both men and women, making it a hub for Somali culture, customs, and identity in Nairobi.
Eastleigh is where Somalis come together, over a cup of tea, to engage in discussions, share stories, and enjoy good company.
This district in the heart of the Kenyan capital is also known as little Mogadishu.

African integration is taking shape between Somalia and Kenya. Alhamdulilah.
Somalis are NOT FOREIGNERS in Kenya as Rwandese are not FOREIGNERS in Uganda. Both have been in the two countries for decades. Only difference is that Rwandese intermarried so much with Ugandans and also, they came as laborers in Uganda unlike Somalis in Kenya who came as entrepreneurs and rarely intermarry - not just with other Africans, but other races too.

@@badaboys2098it’s a culture plus religion thing really. Up here in Minnesota so many of my white friends asked me why somali women dont entertain their advances. I realized somalis are really exclusive and rarely step out of their comfort zone not because they feel like they’re better but because of mellinias of seclusive culture. It’s our strength as well as our weakness.

Eastleigh has the greatest energy of any Kenyan town. It’s biggest problem is tidiness. If the place could be cleaned up and street vending reduced or better organized. The place could be world class. Good job putting this content together.

How i wish someone showed you people Maua town in Meru.Kenyan somalis settled there doing miraa business just like Eastleigh.I call it little Eastleigh in Meru county.
People think somali s came to easleigh in the 90s but I remember in the 70 s there were somalis and Indians mostly living there
Why do people make it seem like there are no Kenyan Somalis? Infact they are Kenya's 6th largest tribe. Somalis are found in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, DJibouti and Eritrea. The majority of Somalis in Kenya are NOT IMMIGRANTS!! Little Mogadishu is just a nickname to mean you will find many Somalis there. Eastleigh is also not just inhabited by Somalis but many other Kenyan tribes too!!

Kenyans are generally opportunists, and Kenyan somalis have learnt that too. we will learn Chinese just to get the yen. is the reasons Kenyans(including Kenyan somalis) prosper in the diaspora and the somalis are now giving back to Kenya since Kenya gave them the base and center to pass through to the US, Australian Canada, a place they could call home away from home.
Tea is more Kenyan than Somali, but I think the Somalis took it up because they don't take alcohol, which is more favored for social meets by other kenyans.
