    Such a fab way of doing something with left-overs and playing with things without a final piece in mind! I can see large black grasses, seedpods, leafy twigs as focal or main subject to see lots of this gorgeous background! using the same stencil with different colours is a great tip! I have started a similar masterboard but are hesitant to put white over it. I fear to loose everything!

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohhh thanks for sharing your ideas. If you are happy with your masterboard then it's done. You can always try adding white on another background at another time. There is no right or wrong....just your vision. Trust it. K

    I prefer matte medium (Liquitex) on my layers [drying with heat gun or overnight between layers], then use Gloss Gel medium (Golden) as my sealing final layer. Ater drying overnight or longer, I rub wax (beeswax or candle wax) over pages of art journal so they don't stick together.

    I usually avoid orange like the plague … never has been a go to color … the combination of rosey red yellow and the “dreaded” orange looks quite lovely here

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes....you need to dry between layers always. I do say that occasionally, but maybe need to do so more often. Use a heat tool to dry and you should find it will work K

    Do you ever copy your background and use the copy?

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have but typically I dont. I have the ability to remake the backgrounds so I prefer that....ink is expensive and when you copy you lose the texture plus the shine....K

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do sometimes scan the background and save it so I can remember it...and refer to it to make over.

    How do you dry yours and how long does it actually take. I'm having issues when collating and my matt medium and it takes so long. Am I using too much

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dry with a heat tool usually as I am impatient...but collaged papers like this with a lot I try to leave dry for several hours. What brand do you use? I find using fluid matte medium dries faster...and works well on copy paper/book paper. I use Liquitex brand. K
