But also, let's just take a moment to appreciate how fucking seamless the transitions were between the growling and the smoother vocals for the chorus. I was literally fucking knocked back by how effortless that seemed.
For a woman? Yeah, she's good. She can get pretty damn low, but she's not even close to somebody like CJ or Alex Terrible. I mean, I know for a fact that she worked a lot, but physically she won't be able to get close to any of those two no matter how much practice she has in the background. Even I am able to go deeper than her, but her transitions are way much better + I can't do any high screams decently. (I ve been practicing for 2 months or 3, messing around with the neighbors 😂)

I'm a month in and I have had to start keeping a calendar to be consistent to carefully train. Do you do it every day as well and how long did it take you to actually develop the growl? How long do you spend on it? I'm still conditioning my subglottic cords and I don't feel like I've made enough progress to attempt an actual growl. I'm always dehydrated so I worry I'm going to trash my throat on accident and not be able to sing normally, which I do every day so that would suck.

I'm still screaming my head off from time to time, yeah :)) It took about one month for me until it clicked. Honestly, it was more like a progress. Like.. I didn't wake up today and nailed it after practicing for some time, you know? I don't have a schedule, but I used to do it at least 3 times/week and I was basically trying to reproduce Corey Taylor's screams. So..I played like 8 songs in some given day, went for it and that's about it. I don't even know what the "subglotic cords" are to be honest :)). I'm more about practice and method and less about the science behind it. If you damage your vocal cords, you'll know it cause it hurts. I don't sing, so I have no clue about that part, but my voice is fine so far. I don't think you can damage your cords that much if you know the basics. You can always drink water..? That shouldn't be a problem. Or something sweet like juice.
