There will be people who will be fans of aviation or not, but if one thing is very clear, it is that seeing this thing in real life does not leave anyone indifferent.
This is hands down the best aviation footage I've ever seen. I love the fact that you can see the stars zoom by in the background, and the brightness of the afterburners. Absolutely beautiful!
It's like the aurora was practically born for this, holy cow that looks epic! The color of the sky and the way the afterburner looks reminds me of the old Delta Force video game series from the early 2000's/late 90s. Always appreciate that you leave your gear and settings in the description. Cheers mate!
Good eye and thanks for the thoughtful comment. I do believe our thoughts run parallel. The out of camera scene rendering has a very distinct CGI look, just needs a talented videographer to make movie with it 🖖🏻
My seminary teacher is in the Air Force and he works on F-35s. I told him that I think the F-22 looks quite a bit better, and he agreed and said that he thinks the F-35 looks like the F-22s “fat cousin” 😂. He said that he saw something like this once. So cool
I completely agree. They're both still absolutely beautiful, though. Sucks they're retiring the F-22s - the clearly superior jet - but, I think they're just too expensive.

Great video otherwise! A couple years ago my boyfriend and I visited Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. While I quickly went to the restroom, apparently FOUR F-22s flew over in diamond formation. I was so mad because I missed the opportunity to photograph such a rare moment! I knew of a plane flying overhead, but due to the high civilian airport activity; I thought it was just a normal passenger plane ✈️ 🤷♂️
The afterburner is blue because Americans have figured out where to put the afterburner technology so that they do not overheat the tube and so they can run extremely high temperatures while safely protecting the actual power plant. The Russians have not learned how to do this and so they still run a lower temperature which is why their flame is not blue. However, it can be optimized and if you want the truth, the f22 isn't really that advanced
I guess this also has to do with the ambient temperature. It's probably cooler there at evening/night, therefore denser air, with more oxygen, which allows the engines to burn the fuel more completely.
@Roddy_Zeh They can use oxygen sensors and or laser temperature control to optimize the flame much like you would do with an oxyacetylene torch maximizing thrust output while minimizing fuel waste
@Roddy_Zeh this is because the tube itself cannot actually take these high temperatures with a welding torch. You could cut right through it, but if you optimize the flow of the atmosphere through the power plant place appropriately, you can maximize the output. The Russians are not doing this and neither are the Chinese, but is something that can be obtained using a wine glass tube shape
Camera's IR-Cut filter has been removed... Super heated exhaust radiates significant NIR... Camera has a sensor that has greater NIR responsivity than most camera sensors... Camera's color science interprets NIR as bluish purple... Thus the bluish purple exhaust. With an IR-Cut filter, blocking the NIR wavelengths, the color would have looked similar to how human sight sees it. The blue is just the NIR signature of the super heated exhaust, as the camera detects and renders it 🖖

True so cool

Ah, a man of culture
Not enough thrust? Needs afterburner for takeoff?
Light the Candles!!!

Wow. It looks like sci-fi 😮
I didn't even know that thing had lights on it, I've never seen one flying at night. Do the lights turn off when in stealth mode?
Afterburners, for when you don't care about stealth! That thing can probably be seen from space, lol... Looks very sweet though
How long can it fly with afterburner
its blue like starscream

Still just orange-ish?
