I was walking along, minding my business When out of an orange colored sky (Flash, bam, alakazam) Wonderful you came by I was humming a tune, drinking in sunshine When out of that orange colored view (Flash, bam, alakazam) I got a look at you One look and I yelled timber Watch out for flying glass 'Cause the ceiling fell in and the bottom fell out I went into a spin and I started to shout I've been hit (This is it, this is it, I've been hit) I was walking along minding my business When love came and hit me in the eye (Flash, bam, alakazam) Out of an orange colored sky One look and I yelled timber Watch out for flying glass 'Cause the ceiling fell in and the bottom fell out I went into a spin and I started to shout I've been hit (This is it, this is it, I've been hit) I was walking along minding my business When love came and hit me in the eye (Flash, bam, alakazam) Out of an orange colored, purple striped Pretty green polka dot sky (Flash, bam) alakazam and goodbye Wow, I thought love was much softer than that For the most disturbing sound
Wow... great vocals, tight band. We just got this arraignment for our dance band. Too bad we are more of a combo with two trumpets and one trombone vs a full sax section.
There's absolutely nothing in the lyrics that would indicate that this song should be sung by a man. In fact, the original, first recording of the song was Janet Brace, and the orchestra was conducted by Milton Delugg, co-author of the song. Granted, the most well-known recording was by Nat King Cole, but it's been covered by a myriad of women, including Natalie Cole, Nat's daughter. Your comment really rubs me the wrong way - it's both sexist and ignorant, and has no basis in any kind of fact or reality.
Doing this song myself at the moment, as a recently developed baritone. This is so different from the sheet music I have. Ima take a lot of this into my own rendition.
What a wonderful singer! She deserves a big recording contract.
1:25 Super impressive trumpet line! Very well executed.
Holy crap! She nailed it.
Her vibrato is perfectly and tastefully executed, the brass is spot on, great job all!
(and thanks to Fallout for my love for these wonderful oldies)
Wow. She sounds mesmerizing. She's also so beautiful ❤
GREAT playing, GREAT Sound engineering, KILLER VOCALS!.
Elini is on fire on the vocals - just absolutely crushed it! Nice recording.
Who’s here from Fallout?
Yessir
Yup
I knew this song before I knew what Fallout was
What's that, I'm from the wasteland listening to this on my radio
😢
Best rendition on the internet. Awesome.
We couldn’t agree more!
Natalie Cole has entered the chat 😜
I’m playing this with Elmhurst Jazz Band! And this is the best recording to practice on!
What a voice! I was doubtful it would compare to the original, what a pleasant surprise!
I was walking along, minding my business
When out of an orange colored sky
(Flash, bam, alakazam)
Wonderful you came by
I was humming a tune, drinking in sunshine
When out of that orange colored view
(Flash, bam, alakazam)
I got a look at you
One look and I yelled timber
Watch out for flying glass
'Cause the ceiling fell in and the bottom fell out
I went into a spin and I started to shout
I've been hit
(This is it, this is it, I've been hit)
I was walking along minding my business
When love came and hit me in the eye
(Flash, bam, alakazam)
Out of an orange colored sky
One look and I yelled timber
Watch out for flying glass
'Cause the ceiling fell in and the bottom fell out
I went into a spin and I started to shout
I've been hit
(This is it, this is it, I've been hit)
I was walking along minding my business
When love came and hit me in the eye
(Flash, bam, alakazam)
Out of an orange colored, purple striped
Pretty green polka dot sky
(Flash, bam) alakazam and goodbye
Wow, I thought love was much softer than that
For the most disturbing sound

A phenomenal arrangement. Would love to get a recording of your performance!!!
Is that the great Steve Lucas on guitar?
Is Eleni Knotos related to the great studio woodwind player Paul Kontos?
Is that magnolia?
