Looks like it's working as planned; looks good. Keep on keepin' on!!! Funny you should mention the NWP... when I'm daydreaming about that, I always ask myself "Now ,who would be crazy enough to buddy-boat with me through there?" Now I know, lol. It's fun to imagine two Tahitis making that passage together! Anyway, until I get another layer of wood on my boat's hull (in similar fashion to what was done to "Rediviva"), I don't think I'll be going up there. It's something I want to do down the road, to defend against worms as well as ice, but not likely to happen this year. I really want to get her back in the water ASAP.
@@SlowlySailing-lc1cs Seems like the NWP is a lot more open these days. Alluring arctic sailing recently made Greenland from the Pacific. Maybe one day.... I'll let you know. I don't think extra planking is necessary for nina. If your really worried, copper below water sheathing is always an option. Protective, antifouling and looks old school as hell. Rediviva is a chine hull with a v bottom. Much easier prospect to double plank than to spile and bend a second layer over a traditional hull like on these tahitis.
@@SavingMaverick55 It is getting easier to sail up there, but if you're not ready to overwinter somewhere along the way, it's a bad idea to venture there in any kind of boat. Lumi is currently frozen in for the winter in Greenland, after a fairly easy passage. I have a slightly different idea for a second layer of wood (strips laid diagonally)... simpler but possibly not worth the trouble and expense. Another pipe dream for now.
@@scottcates thanks Scott. It's the one we've been using the whole time and I showed the fabrication of in episode 30. It's made from an old railroad switch handle.
Every thing of the best for 2025. Regards Billy in South Africa
Good pipework Cap'n.
Gr8 progress!

Nice bucking bar, that.

😎😎😎
Do you plan on putting a layer of glass cloth and epoxy over the entire hull.
@@garrylycos4795 Absolutely not. I wouldn't be going anywhere near as in depth with the plank repairs if I was going to do that.
Ha, still smoking..you are an old pirate for sure! Your wife does the hard part too. Well congrats on that Rib. Keep at it.
Ya done good!"
@@richmelillo9637 Arrrr. LOL. Thanks, Rich!
