Oh man, that’s one of my favorites. Have you heard the version that doesn’t have the guitar loop from Figure 8 playing over the whole song? I prefer it, because it’s easier to hear the melody and differentiate the parts of the track.
"Suicide Machine" really fleshed out his Harrisonian progression aping and is such a tragically ebullient and misinterpreted denial of the caricature his less articulate critics painted him to be
If Harrison it is, it has to be "A Living Will" no other ES song besides Suicide Machine channels HARRISON the best. Suicide Machine is probably Harrison going through a Madchester fix, while A Living Wil is Harrison channelling Harrison possessing Elliott Smith making him write it and record it.
it sounds so good cranked in surround. The whistling harmonics are genius. I usually just loop it all day.... But jokes aside, I really love the way that fades into Twilight... All this crazy, old fashioned drums and whistling and.. chirping.. fades out to silence... the crickets, and then maybe one of his most pretty songs. Elliott's songs can be called lots of different things, but when it comes to "pretty.", specifically.. Twilight has to take the cake. I Didn't Understand and the Last Hour honourable mentions.
This is the perfect follow up to basement on the hill!! Elliot is a major influence to my song writing ✍️ along with many others including his influence…. Thanks 🙏 for the mix!!

@@ParleyPCat I'm going to have to hunt for that.
"Suicide Machine" really fleshed out his Harrisonian progression aping and is such a tragically ebullient and misinterpreted denial of the caricature his less articulate critics painted him to be
IMO his other unflinchingly Harrisonian of Harrisongs is "Fond Farewell", to name one
Once I figure out what the heck you said I might feel some way about it.
@Lou sorry, m8. Lol I had just gotten my Adderall script right before I typed that :D
If Harrison it is, it has to be "A Living Will" no other ES song besides Suicide Machine channels HARRISON the best. Suicide Machine is probably Harrison going through a Madchester fix, while A Living Wil is Harrison channelling Harrison possessing Elliott Smith making him write it and record it.
thank you so very much for this, I didn't even know I needed it
Thank you for bringing some new(to me at least) tunes from my boy. Consistently good material).
Dude, this is incredible. Thank you.
ive listened to this over and over and over, i love it so much. the order and composition is perfect. thank u for making it
I’m so happy you’re happy with this!!
These are pretty much the same songs I would have put together as well. Very nice! Thanks for doing this!!!
Finding this video has made my day, and quiet frankly my month
Man it's a good compilation but "From A Basement..." has my favorite DEFINITELY Elliott SMITH track, "Ostrich and Chirping"🔥
it sounds so good cranked in surround.
You're right. Ostrich and Chirping is the best song he ever wrote.
@Church of Film we were joking, but thanks for the info.
@Church of Film lol I dont know who david mcconnell is
@@JunkBondTrader I'd like to nominate Bye and Waltz #1 as well for his prettiest
