I was he's interpreter in Genova ITA WHEN HE WON THE PAGANINI PRICE...FIRST USA WINNER...I SPENT ONE WEEK IN HIS COMPANY...HE WAS YOUNG, GOOD LOOKING AND, MOST OF ALL, GREAT! EUGENE HOW I MISS YOU! SOMEDAY WE WILL MEET AGAIN IN HEAVEN ❤🙏🌹🕊
He was indeed. My jaw dropped when I first heard him play in 1975. I got to know him superficially many years later, we were in touch off and on a bit for a couple of years. (after his stint in rehab). Incredibly sad about his untimely death.
I knew him just a bit for a couple of years. He seems to have lost touch with many who cared about him, but I was glad he remarried his first wife a short while before his death. She always took care of him and he finally got to know his children.
He was a hunka hunka hunk. I remember him from 1972 my mother and I thought he was so cute. Of course he's super talented he's just the package deal I'm so sorry he passed away back in 2011 he died young way too young and I'm sorry about what happened to him.
HE HAD IT ALL. WATCH THE TRILL USING HIS PINKY. FASTER THAN A HUMMINGBIRD'S WING. NO LIVING VIOLINIST CAN PLAY LIKE THIS. HIS TECHNIQUE EVEN IMPRESSED HEIFETZ. AS FOR HIS ADDITION, ENOUGH HAS BEEN SAID ALREADY. IN THAT RESEPCT, HE TRULY WAS A ROCK STAR. EVEN RESEMBLED MICK JAGGAR A BIT. NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT I'M NOT THINKING ABOUT HIM. WHENEVER I HEAR MUSIC, HE IMMEDIATELY COMES TO MIND. I USED TO ATTEND HIS CONCERTS &, BEING A HORSEMAN MYSELF, ALWAYS WANTED TO MEET HIM. LIKE MICHAEL RABIN, WHO WAS ALSO A DRUG ADDICT, HIS LOSS LEFT A RENT IN THE FABRIC OF MUSIC. EUGENE FODOR IS MENTIONED IN THE NOVEL, "LIFE AIN'T KIND". LIFEAINTKIND.COM
This took place mere months after the arrest that brought Fodor's drug use (already longstanding since his teen years) to public awareness. He had been favored with many Carson appearances previously. Unfortunately the problem continued to the end.

He was a good friend of mine 1994, Lost touch in 2002. What a genius. He was an awesome person
What a shame- any anecdotes you would be willing to share?

So proud to be his friend and student. Who has the ***** to perform La Campanella a capella on the Tonight Show. Wow.
Brilliant simply brilliant
Can you imagine a host talking this respectfully to an artist now?
well said

I heard him in early 70s in San Jose at urging of my violin teacher. Met him afterwards.
Same. 1975.
Likewise, '78 or '79. He was just lovely to this silly teenage fan.
Wow

Brave human
Why wasn't there a piano accompaniment?
One can only guess.
I NEVER NOTICED UNTIL YOU BROUGHT IT UP.
This piece was written for solo violin, no piano accompaniment exists.
He played this often over the years, always as a solo arrangement.
@@unclejuniorsoprano me too!
He looks fully recovered in his own technique but
Playing was not in the slightest bit affected by drugs. He was a bit of a screwed up guy but he had this natural technique that survived everything
