  • Front row POV of Lightning Rod at Dollywood
    Lightning Rod at Dollywood is an iconic wooden roller coaster known for its exhilarating speed and intense airtime. Recently, this beloved ride underwent a significant upgrade with the addition of a chain lift hill. This modification has replaced the previous launch system, ensuring a smoother and more reliable ascent to the top of the first drop. The chain lift enhances the ride's efficiency and minimizes downtime, allowing more guests to experience the thrilling 73 mph descent and breathtaking twists and turns. As one of Dollywood's most popular attractions, Lightning Rod continues to deliver heart-pounding excitement, now with improved reliability and an even more thrilling start. This update ensures Lightning Rod remains a must-visit for roller coaster enthusiasts seeking the ultimate adrenaline rush.

    I wasn’t able to ride it with the launch, but I did with the chainlift. It honestly felt like it was going to derail if it was going any faster. It was an absolute blast that made me ride it several more times. I firmly believe that the switch to the chainlift was a good thing. There is way less downtime.
    I absolutely hate the comments that claim that they ruined the ride. It seriously undermines the fun you can have on it.

      To he fair, as someone who has riden the launch version multiple times, the ride IS worse when riding.
      The question isn't really if the experience while riding is better or worse. That's an obvious... worse.
      The question is if it's worth losing debatable the best feature to downgrade it from a world-class attraction to a great ride for the sake of keeping it running more.
      That is the real question that has to be answered. While still fun, it is not as fun to ride now. The launch was awesome.

      The person who replied before me is 100% correct. The ride is nowhere near as good as it was with the launch, period. The increased reliability is not worth it.

    Guys, don’t complain. Dollywood had 2 options, to either use a chain lift or tear down the ride completely. If you care about the layout and not just the launch then the first option is better, and Dollywood thought that too since it is one of their most beloved attractions. They tried EVERYTHING they could to keep the launch operating, but it was just too ambitious.

      @trevorwise3222 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @paninidevOfficial it does, but the launch really amplified those elements. Watching the older videos of it, it looked way more fast and exciting than it does now. But that's just my opinion. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@dblevins343 Dollywood would lose a lot of money and it would hardly be open. They already tried everything, i-box, making the launch slower, but nothing helped. If dollywood wanted to keep this open and reliable, they had to do this.
