This might be my favorite Pentatonix Bohemian Rhapsody reaction video of all time.

They are one of my top favorites. Harmony and beat box is amazing.
I've seen them sing this live twice, and it sounded exactly like it does in this video recording. That's what so great about them, they do an almost two hour concert and they sing their faces off. No dancers or band to hide behind, just vocal talent.

Filmed in a parking lot, and they have a "how it's made" video. This is stunning and powerful. * Brian May, guitarist for Queen liked this tribute. The megaphone is a prop, Mitch sounds the same "live." This is creative, fun, with gorgeous voices and so well done. Their harmonies are perfection. They keep getting better with each song. Thanks.
They really are that good live too - the 'Trio' have been friends since 8/9 yrs old - when they won the Sing Off with Avi and Kevin they lost their record deal and so did a heap of YT videos sitting on their old couch. This video was kind of an homage to that...started on the couch....went off into the stratosphere but came back still grounded to the couch as best friends even after their 3 Grammy wins. (You can kind of see how close they all are with the trio lying linked together just before the couch goes back into the 'room'.) We love them...and I think you are now a Pentaholic ! Welcome to the PTX Family !!
They did a bar of this song in their "Evolution of Music", but said at the time that doing the entire song would be very difficult. Looks like they figured it out.
I feel confident in saying that no other cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, no matter how well anyone else sings it, will be as impressive as this one. PTX literally got every single note, guitar riff, drum beat, etc. right and it’s amazing. And this is coming from someone who put off listening to this when it first came out because of how much I love Queen. That was a mistake because I truly think Freddie would have loved this. Even Brian May agrees.

PTX is the best vocal group in America today .
That "thing on the floor" was a Botts Dot...a reflector on highways. The whole scene was filmed on a roadway...hence the Botts Dot. I'm not making this up! Someone named Bott invented the highway reflector...as a safety feature...for roads.
There's a video on here somewhere a "behind the scenes"sort of thing, that shows much of the making of the video...it's hilarious!

Yay more Pentatonix :D They put their own spin on this timeless piece of music and it's incredible! And that "guitar" solo with the megaphone... Nice... Even though Mitch is clearly the lead in this (which is understandable since his voice is probably the closest to Freddie Mercury's), they always manage to highlight each member in all of their songs.

Acapella with beat boxer and strong basis is amazing. Kevin Ulusola and Avi Kaplan made it like a whole band performance.

Scott, the tall blonde baritone, said in a recent interview that this was the hardest thing they haev ever done. This literally spent almost 3 months on this one piece, between arranging the parts, practicing them, singing their parts, and then making the video, which was shot in the California dessert, at night. Yes, the couch is motorized and moves during the filming.
The two bits where they show the night sky is on ode to Brian May, who not only was Lead Guitarist of Queen, but has a Ph.D. in Astrophysics, He lives this cover of the song.

Hi.They were due to play the Apollo Hammersmith and O2 Apollo in Manchester earlier this year but had to cancel due to the Coronavirus. Has now been rearranged for 9th and 10th June next year. Was lucky enough to get tickets when they came out for the original dates. Cant wait to see them next year, May still be some tickets left I guess if people cant make the new dates. Will make sure i use mind no matter what
I'm a HUGE Queen fan and I love Bohemian Rhapsody but I have never heard a cover of it that I liked.....until now this is f-ing good.
hahaaa... YES! It took Queen 3 people to do what Mitch did by himself! He was the lead singer, the electric guitar, and he nailed the high note... And Kevin was excellent, I swear he has an entire drum set in his mouth.. so cool.

Sound of Silence by Disturbed, Shallow by Floor Jansen, some of the PTX versions... sometimes thosd covers find the deepest feelings of the song better (the composer and original artist might get a bit "blind" sometimes, which is human... they're so close to it).
@@Garbox80 the Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel is much better than Disturbeds version. And I'm talking musically. I'm speaking as a professional musician. Disturbeds version isn't even close. Of course to each his own, but in the original version there is no digital manipulation. In his cover, very much so. The only cover of an original that is even close is Ann and Nancy Wilson performing Stairway to Heaven. But even at that the original is better. My issue is, why would you create a channel for cover songs, and not even acknowledge the original. To me that is totally disrespectful. Maybe you younger folks like digital manipulated music with vocalists using autotune. Myself I prefer talented musicians who spent years becoming proficient. Pentatonixv, Disturbed, Angelina Jordan, etc. Are all very talented, but to me they are the B team. How come we never hear Linda Ronstadt, Janice Joplin, Joan Osborne, Judy Collins on Gitanas channel. I don't mind hearing new talent, but if you don't combine all decades of music, your older subscribers will eventually leave. I really like her channel, but because I played with many of the original artists, I know that they were much better, I, along with all of my musician friends have unsubscribed. If I'm going to spend my time to listen to music, I want the A team.
I don't know if anyone else has suggested it, but watching their performances and the judges' reactions from the Sing Off (they won season 3) would show you a lot about them.
All Acappella group does everything with non-instrumental PERIODT... I know this is over a year old but your reaction seriously is priceless, it makes you appreciate them on a whole other level. And as you will see doing more covers on them "Avi" with the beard left the group in 2017 he is on TH-cam, TikTok and of course mainstream eps.

I think you're almost ready. Once you get through Imagine, I think you will be. When you've done that one, then it's time for Starvista. By then you should be able to handle the heights Mitch gets up to, and the sass he gives off. Lol.
And, yeah, Pentatonix sets the bar for Acapella round the world. They've made it mainstream, at the very least.
It helps to know their history for this video. A couch much like this was a prominent prop in most of their earliest videos, so going back to it after years of expensive big production AFTER those early videos was a huge callback.

You should see some of their old stuff from when they were on the sing off. They have gotten a lot better since but they are good performances.

So, you're now a Pentaholic, right? You should check out their "Daft Punk" medley that brought their first Grammy. And yes, they can do it live too (there's a private performance where there's only the mic for the camera).
Then you could check out "Great Movie Medley" by Voctave (another acapella group) if you like movies with a soundtrack composed by John Williams.
If you want to be amazed at more displays of vocal virtuso, check out Kevin Olusola (the beat boxer), doing Down. He was a classically trained cellist before he joined Pentatonix, so seeing him "cello-boxing" is bananas.

John Deacon is the bassist for Queen. Brian May is the guitarist for Queen. Oh and Roger Taylor is the drummer and Freddy Mercury is the lead singer.

This is an impossible masterpiece to cover well. Freddie and Queen laid out this song way back in 1975 and radio executives said at 6 minutes it was too long for a single to get played on the radio, boy guess he was WRONG! As the next to last song on "A Night at the Opera" the studio version is great, any of the live versions here on TH-cam are amazing, especially "Queen Rocks Montreal 1981". For me though the best was sitting in the arena at Madison Square Garden in 1980, for the Game tour same as Montreal, and again in 1982 for the Hot Space tour watching them LIVE in person do this. This cover is a wonderful cover by 5 very talented young people. Oh Gitana you missed out on the head banging, ala "Wayne's World" there near the end. Been there, done that a couple times when my daughter was a teenager coming home from cheerleading practice a decade or so ago.

BTW, loved your suspender/pants too :) You cannot go wrong with PTX but grab a tissue box and try "Run to You", "Imagine", "Mary did you know" then you can relearn about Christmas with "Come All Ye Faithful", "Little Drummer Boy" and Christmas will never be the same again and if you need to feel good, go to "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" and "Daft Punk" and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" - There's lots more too so as we used to say in the sixties "Tune In and drop out"
Without going thru the comments I already know that other Pentaholics have already said that they are JUST as amazing in concert!!! Watching their vids is 1 type of unbelievable, seeing them in concert is a whole other side of unbelievable! Keep 'em coming
I watched a group called "naturally 7" they opened for Micheal Buble' ..they sang "In the Air Tonight" ...I suggest pulling that one up
I think that will be fun...Great reaction. Avi was the bass, bearded guy, He decided to leave the group and was replaced by Matt. Imagine and Daft punk medley, also Mary did you know? is an earlier version for them and allows you to see changes in style and performance. At Christmas you can just put on their Christmas music and be good all day...or two. Peace out and love to all.
