Originally I was torn. For so long these guys have given the middle finger to the industry and existed only via bootlegs and raucous live shows. Have they sold out now? But Beato is spot on. There are not that many pop-punk bands who would completely improvise their debut single. What a masterstroke. This might be some of their best work yet.

Ever since the Warped Tour ended, these guys haven't gotten the recognition they deserve. The should be kicking back in a hot tub, instead they're out there eating gas station food at Stinkers and doing appearances at Hot Topic. It's so gratifying to see them come roaring back so strongly.

AiF was my dads favorite band. He was a lineman for the county and hed come home every night after working 12-14 hour shifts and still make time to play August is Falling for me and my sister. So many great memories of him and my mom dancing to this song in the kitchen after dinner in our small house. We didnt have much money but we had eachother and we had August is Falling so i always say i grew up rich. Everytime i hear this song, I know my dad is watching over me and the boys from AiF from that big warped tour in the sky Miss you pop :(

He high fived me and started doing some thing with his arms that looked like a cross between an epileptic seizure and air guitar. Then he said "wasn't the improvisation amazing? You never hear that in rock guitar, maybe Pat Metheny, but never in rock improvisation." Then he pulled a distortion pedal out of his pocket, autographed it, and handed it to me then just walked away, only turning around once to give me a thumbs up and do that weird air guitar seizure move again. Man of the people.

I spent a couple months in rehab in early '20 and a big guy covered in full body tattoos gave me a bootleg cassette of an AiF show and I cried myself to sleep with it the whole time I was in, I’m so glad to see them get the attention they deserve! ❤️🔥

When I helped her into the passenger seat and turned the key, an old bootleg of this song came blaring out of the speakers. I dove to turn it down and apologized thinking I may have given her a heart attack...but she turned to me and said "Whatcha turn it down for? Life is short...crank it up!" Miss you Gertie....
I'm coming late to the AIF party but as a long time fan of Beato, accompanied by a deep level of respect, I feel justified in my enthusiasm for such an important band. Rick just nails it here. There isn't really much else to say.
AiF literally saved my life!!! I was hanging up a clock in my bathroom and was standing on the toilet seat in order to hang it up and ended up slipping and hitting my head on the edge of the porcelain sink, I quickly began listening to AiF and was able to instantly stop the bleeding. The doctors say it was a miracle, but I know how I survived. Keep on falling🤘🤘🤘🤘
Man, Rick really provides some insight to the brilliance of AiF. I take it for granted, because it's always just such an emotional listen for me, but there is an insane level of music theory prowess behind all these songs on The Simple Plan EP that definitely deserves the praise Beato give it here. If AiF isn't in the Rock & Roll HOF in fifteen years, I'm eating a plate of Ernie Ball Super Slinkys like a plate of angel hair pasta and ending it all.
I know I'm a few weeks late but seeing Beato respond to AIF coming back after so long is a trip, man. God bless AIF, they got me through some dark times and now that they're back is amazing. Soundtrack of my life.
These guys are insane! So glad I found this band a couple years ago because they are way underappreciated. AIF have that classic sound but also the raw energy and you really feel every note.
This song really got me through a tough time. I had been kidnapped by ISIS during the Syrian Civil war, rescued by Russian mercenaries who then came under attack by Kurdish freedom fighters. US Navy Seals eventually rescued me, but I lost a leg, eye, ear and one butt cheek. During the recovery in the hospital, this was the song that finally woke me up from my 4 year coma. I was very happy to see that AIF is finally making it big, although some small part of me wonders if this is a sarin-gas induced fever dream and I'm still stuck in Aleppo with the boys from Damascus
I have been trying to learn this song from the moment it came out. Still trying to get it down, luckily for me there are a couple cover versions on youtube to guide me. Killer stuff.
You have to listen for the diminished sus4 over the tonic inversion of the minor 13th. Then, when the IV modulates the augmented perfect flat vi, the leading tone into the arpeggiated bridge really ties it together. I hope that helps you out!
Back in 2019 my brother slipped in the hot tub and has been in a coma the past 3 years. We love pop punk so I played this song for him and he woke up yesterday!! Our family was so grateful! We played him some MGK and I’m sad to say he returned to his coma 😭
