It's not that they didn't think he wasn't worthy of the Hall, it's that they thought he didn't deserve to be unanimous. Despite being the first Japanese born position player in MLB history. There were Japanese born pitchers, but it was thought that Japanese hitters could not play in MLB. Ichiro shattered that nonsense. Despite being the ONLY player in MLB history with 10 straight years of 200 hits, gold gloves (for both RF and CF), and All-Star starts. Sure, many players have had more years of gold gloves and All-Star games, but nobody did all 3 like Ichiro did. Despite being only one of two players in MLB history with 10 years of 200 hits (Rose is the other) but Ichiro did it in consecutive years. Rose did not. Despite breaking one of the most untouchable records in MLB history. Nobody will ever touch 262 hits. Keep in mind Ichiro didn't come stateside until his age 27 season (due to how the posting system worked). If he came over earlier I don't think there would be any doubt he would have broke Rose's career hits record.
My Dad and Dave passed on the same day. Both huge baseball fans. Man, I hope they are up There talking ball and loving each other. You too, Mom! Thanks, guys for all your support. I never would have got my inside the park Home Run without you. Your loving Son, Sparky Boy.
Dude’s arm was a death ray for base runners. While running the bases, lots of these guys will have suddenly remembered “oh damn, that ball went to right,” and a split second later seen the incoming throw in the corner of their eye. Too late.
Nice clip. I am an NL East fan. Nice to see AL West highlights I ordinarily don’t see. I know Ichiro played late in his career for the Marlins but none of these highlights were with the Marlins.
The play that starts at the 4:05 mark, where he could have dove and made the catch, was a genius move. I believe instead of making an out by diving he saved a run. If he had dove it would have taken him to the ground, giving the runner a slight edge since Ichiro would have have to get up and and then make the throw. He saved a run by doing that.
You should extend this video of all the people he held up at 3rd. After the first throw out to third only any idiot would try to advance on Ichiro. He threw out people at first with line drops to him.
Ichiro just became a member of the HOF...congrats!! Should have been unanimous, but some(one) Schmuck thought he or she would make a statement, all the time being hiding behind anonymity. Weak, real weak!
If only the ownership dedicated themselves to winning a World Series as much as Ichiro did to play the game at such a high level for so long, the Mariners would have one at least one since 1995. Nope. Just the sniff in the early 2000’s and thats it.
Righteous! Good video. Best thing about Ichiro: never any flexing, chest beating, jungle beast gesticulations, finger pointing, or other insufferable attempts to draw attention to himself that are so unbearably common these days in all sports.
The fact that some idiot thought he wasn’t a HOFer is insane.

It unfortunately isn’t new. 7% of the voters didn’t vote for Willie Mays to be in the HOF. Hank Aaron and Sandy Koufax were not unanimously voted in.
"And Ichiro throws something out of Star Wars right there"

Love it when the thumbnail matches the caption. Outstanding. No notes.
It's good to hear Daves voice again.

this channel is way underrated, awesome compilation.
That first throw had zero arch. A complete straight line. Unbelievable arm
The second throw was an absolute duplicate. No one can say that the first one was a fluke. 👍
Absolute laser beam .
A total complete player and teammate! True gentleman!😎
Hearing Kernkraft 400 bumpin' in Safeco was always an exhilarating moment. Miss those days!
They so much need to bring that back. It's WAY better than "Seven Nation Army".

The legend ichiro suzuki
The man was amazing
Liked the Ichiro stuff and loved the Niehaus stuff.
Best 5 tool player of all time.
Mays & Griffey i think take that title, but Ichiro is super close
The Goat
If Ichiro played his whole career in NYC, they would've elected him Mayor.
Welcome to Cooperstown, Ichiro
my oh my
Good to hear Dave again. He made me a baseball fan
Man alive what an arm

A couple were offline, but the velocity gave the catcher time to adjust and tag.

There were 2 outs…
@alexb8833 I didn't realize that. Then maybe my assessment is wrong. What the heck Ichiro?! Make a play!!!
Dave Niehaus
That 1:08 mark. Goddamn I miss the voice of my childhood. Rest easy Dave.
Wow this was fun to watch!! I’ll tell you who are not fans of this clip: Terrance Long and Reed Johnson!!😂😂😂🚀🚀🚀🚀
the most skilled person to ever play the game
I don't know, I've never seen him hit a homer and pitch a win in the same game like I did Sho down the 5 Fwy in Anaheim. ⑆
@@cuda426hemi please remember, without Ichiro, we would never have Ohtani. Ohtani deeply bows to Ichiro (not figuratively, literally)
I've seen other games where the base runner stopped at 3rd base instead of trying for home because Ichiro had fielded the ball.
Hard to believe people kept trying to take an extra base on him when they knew about his cannon. You won't make it,
He had a gun on him. But Ankiel had a cannon. Dude could throw strikes from the warning track. Which is insane given his yips story.
the first guy was like what who where how?
It's a little known fact, but many bars tried to hire Ichiro after he retired because he was so good at throwing people out...
And because he's Japanese,he knows kung fu.
HOF CARD for The Show 25??
Ichi-throws.
Suzuki high performance

I miss Dave
Offense draws crowds
Defense wins ⚾️ games

Why would you ever run on Ichiro when he was charging a ball?
why even try?

How do you say “piss rope” in Japanese?
They never learn 😅 you don't run on Ichiro
