Unbelievable how getting tangled and unclipping for that brief moment is what saved his life. It wasn't his time, and he had a guardian angel that day. 😇
That had to be so scary. You unclip from your group to fix your tangled self, look down to get untangled, look up and everyone except you has disappeared down the mountain. That had to be so very frightening then you'd have to calm yourself and climb by yourself down the mountain that you'd had help climbing. The shear terror and exhaustion Abe must have felt upon being able to call for help. That's so sad. At least, the families had some closure with Abe being able to tell them what happened to their kin.
I know little about mountaineering but continue to appreciate learning about the lesser-known but fatality-happy peaks; didn't realize there were so many
1 day I'll summit these deadly mountains just started a job as a low low level wilderness guide so in about 20 years look for my name among these type of videos cause I now know where I want my body to lay for eternity. Thank you for showing me what I was meant to do.
Another flawless masterpiece I have a lot of scholarly interests in many areas but I must say thanks to Morbid Midnight mountaineering transformed into a completely new awestruck admiration of the craft itself . But mountaineering content and channel on TH-cam there's no competition that's even remotely close . 👑👑👑
What an imposing peak! It's truly awe inspiring. I may never understand why some people look at such a mountain and think, "I want to climb to the top!" Just, why? And don't say because it's there!
@bostonsandatot4948, c'mon now, unlike dwugz, mountaineering is a "cleanly healthy adventurously wholesome hobby" What could be more "clean & healthy" than intentionally going to a place literally openly called "the death zone"!???
I love your channel. Your voice, the factual narration withot unnesessary sensationalism, and also educational! You cover mountains and stories that many other channels never get to. Thank you! I think I binged all your mountaineering content at leat twice.
I saved the photos of the mountain. I’d love to see it one day. Can’t climb it but it would be great just to get to the lake! 7 dead in an instant, clipping together maybe isn’t the best idea on this difficult of a traverse
What does it say about this year of our lord 2024 ... that I open a Morbid Midnight video and immediately hit the like button BECAUSE ... I know I'm going to get EXACTLY what I need and expect ... some horrible tale of death and/or woe told in the most pleasant, soothing voice ever (well, this side of Steven Wright, at least). MM: And THEN ... the school bus full of children slammed into the gas tanker and they all caught on fire ... but wait ... they slipped OFF the collapsing bridge into the water, which put them out, which was lucky ... but then some of them drowned and the rest were torn apart by sharks! The ones who drowned were eaten by turtles ... and crabs. Me: Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, you made it almost sound like a good thing!
Well rounded and informative. Nicely done. But none, no disaster video on youtube, by any maker can compare to your other one with the actual recorded plane crash during the event from inside the passenger area. In a league of it's own!
All good man, but one correction, it’s the fourth highest mountain except Himalayas and Karakoram, third highest mountain is Tirich Mir at 7.708 metres.
I’m pretty sure they did the calculations with some fancy trigonometry back in the day. Distance from the base and the angle required to look up to the summit.
What does it tell us that foreigners come to these regions in Pakistan, India and Nepal to climb these mountains but the locals who live there thousands of years are not interested.
At x1.25 speed it's still slow and boring. Speaking slowly doesn't necessarily make it more dramatic when what you are saying isn't interesting and overly long and drawn out
Removing Gongga from bucket list.
Ditto 💯💯😂😂
Great idea!
😂 Removing mountain climbing all together from my bucket list
😂😂😂😂

The pictures of Mount Gongga make it look like it’s entirely composed of avalanches except the very top ridges.
It looks very dangerous even from the photos, no thanks.
😂😂😂
"entirely composed of avalanches" I am stealing this line 😂😂😂

Doesn't matter how many times I look at the picture at 5:20, I get shivers down my spine. It's just so unsettling and unnerving.
Right!! I mean who does that! Poof! One good gust of wind and you can say “bye-bye”! 😂
Maps graphics, even cardinal directions on the photos. Great story and well told.
Your mountaineering videos are my fav
If it's not a paved walk in a National Park...I'm out. In awe of these intrepid souls. Another excellent video!
National parks are dangerous

Early international shipwrecks are interesting. They were right on the edge of technology.
Another fine video, Midnight 🎉, thanks.

I will admire it from a distance.
Been binging ur channel, keep making these videos please!!
These disaster videos never bother me as I will never defy death in this manner. 🐸☕

I’m also obsessed with cave diving disasters and I know I will never, ever do that lol
Ever drive a car? 40,000 a year.
@@hillanderson6503 right. Like the people who are afraid of flying have a much better chance of dying on the way to the airport
Maybe 😊

I was getting ready to turn in when I got the alert. Sleep can wait; a new Morbid Midnight video can't!
Wonderful content, as always!.
Go get 100K soon!!
Another well researched and well done vid MM! Thank you.

As much as I love hiking and summiting American mountains, especially The Rockies, I'm never going up these monsters.
Just in time for the short road trip I have this morning
tysm for new vid !!
There's a good film in this story Morbid Midnight.
Thanks for this video :) .

"Yu-Gi-Ohhhhhhh" pretty much sums up the teams reaction I guess
I hate returning from an expedition without my life intact!
Wow this is one of your most haunting ones yet. Just unfathomable why they do this
I suppose to cut down on potential trauma, it’s best to attempt this mountain with a team of people you really don’t like
Hello (insert worst enemy name). Care to join me on a leisurely stroll up a mountain? My treat!😋
All good man, but one correction, it’s the fourth highest mountain except Himalayas and Karakoram, third highest mountain is Tirich Mir at 7.708 metres.
Just clicked on this video and noticed the time is exactly midnight!
Your method of narration is very unsettling
Thanks!
That would leave you shaken , " l,ll stop for a moment to fix my carabiner , l,ll catch up . Then they were gone ..
"Just to name a few"......
😂😂😂
'Lets all do the gongga, nahh nahh nahhh nah'
That mountain looks fuggin huuuge!
Thank God i'm afraid of heights.
I'll stick to climbing my southern Appalachian mountains.
Mikio is one lucky dude!
Never been first before! Exciting.
Love your channel dude ❤
You weren't first though 😅

Name of background music?
Don’t tell the wife about this guys trip lol
1:13 "would relish in relative obscurity" do you mean languish? repose? slumber? "Relish" makes no sense.
Bingo!
🤓🤓🤓
If your looking for an adventure, keep in mind that at these mountains they have a level called the Death Zone.🤨
Is it in Sichuan?
Yes
1.2 k/d is crazy
Are there any stories of climbers encountering aggressive predatory animals?
Craxzy.
Yikes!
I prefer the Sichuan King two blocks from my apartment.
furthermore the peak is home of malevolent ghosts and demons. let's go there :)
1:13: *Languish* in relative obscurity. Not "relish".
👍 ❤
Ahhh yahhh
How did know how many feet it was, did they carry a tape measure? 😂
It tells us the locals don't have an adventurous spirit and that they are too lazy to explore their own country.
My least favorite are the mountaineering videos 😐

Need to increase the speed to 1.25.
