18:18 Me. I’m the one using Treat-or-Treat Gourgiest. Gourgiest (Probably Super Size for added bulk) knowing Trick-or-Treat, Will-o-Wisp, Sunny Day, and Foul Play holding Lefties 5.) Ceruledge (this is why I have Sunny Day) knowing Bitter Blade, Solar Blade, Shadow Claw and either Destiny Bond, Will-o-Wisp, or Protect (not sure which I’d rather have tbh) holding Scope Lens 6.) Decidueye (A) knowing Spirit Shackle, Sucker Punch, Giga Drain and either Tera Blast (if tera was possible, tera type would be fighting) or Low Sweep (for if I couldn’t tera) holding AV. Is this the best team possible and does it “represent the ghost type well”? God no, I’m running two Grass/Ghost types, a pseudo sun team, and 1/3 of my Pokémon are essentially support/set up mons. However, I think the team has some synergy and potential to be really annoying if I play my cards right.
@@shepskydad Decidueye is easily my favorite starter and a top 5 all time Pokémon for me, so yes while I’m very biased, it was really hard not to include it even with already having Gourgiest (plus Grass is my second favorite type).
I never played or watched competitive but i know from experience how great my boy Annihilape really is. Besides, that made my have an appreciation for the entire Mankey line and I finish both Scarlet and Violet with of of them in my team.
18:20 I use a prankster sableye that uses will o wisp, disable, encore and shadow sneak. It doesn't have a good way to deal with dark types, but it's a fun combo I discovered when playing around with prankster movesets as a trick room counter
I've been waiting for this dude. I'm playing through Violet with a ghost team now. Except darkrai, who is the ace, but he's tera ghost, so it kinda counts.
Normally I would put shell bell on annihilape since even after taking just one or two hits, rage fist is already ridiculously powerful, so the shell bell will be healing A LOT.
Most excited for the fighting type gym. I feel like the pokemon on it have a super diverse arsenal and the whole concept of gym battles really derives from martial arts. I may be biased, but I'd love to see that next!
When I’ve day dreamed about monotype teams, covering weaknesses and resistances is usually my main concern - Ghost having so few makes it a lot trickier. Annihilape, Mimikyu and Spiritomb are pretty much my only fixed members (Zoroark feels too legendary) and then I’m just picking strong ghost types to fill up slots
So hyped to see the Ghost entry for this series as it’s my favourite type, and I’m certainly quite happy with the choices made for the team :D (rip Hisuian Zoroark though) Allister is my favourite gym leader as he reminds me of myself a bit when I was a kid; timid and dislikes people, mostly spends time alone, and puts on a mask when around other people (for me it’s more figurative than literal)
Fantastic video! I love the ghost type since I was a child and I wanted to have my own gym based on it. Your team is perfect except for two tiny details: 1) Give Gengar levitate, I hate they had to nerf him and it makes more sense for him to float about; and 2) Dusclops definitely should have Toxic instead of Curse as it's last move. Once again, I loved the team. This is the first video of yours I've seen, but I'll be watching the whole series.
For theming having the gym leader being a actual ghost with there ace being a shiny houndstone being yellow (ol yeller) why I've been the gym leader Fer longer then most I don't mind I have my best bud so all's good I perfer g corsola for eveolit with cursed body willowisp calm mind hex straight sap Some theme idea for your future steel team Viking with purserker aegislash and make it a double battle with pur steeley spirit and slash going spe attack steel beam with shell bell
I love my ghosts so I've been waiting for this one! I recently messed around designing a ghost type gym leader OC, but didn't get super far into movesets. My team consisted of Mismagius, Ceruledge, Dragapult, Annihilape, Aegislash, and Mega Gengar (my all time favorite) for the ace.
I think Basculegion could use Last Respects better since it has Adaptability and Mold Breaker as abilities plus Aqua Jet, Psychic Fangs, and Liquidation
This is such a cool team, as someone who is totally in love with ghost type pokemon this has to be one of the coolest lineups I've seen, it just misses one of my favorite ghost types ever in Sableye but I understand why they might not be there.
Cool team! I used three of the same pokemon in mine, but some different sets as well. My thought was that you can stack up the entry hazards since your whole team is immune to rapid spin, then you use perish song/perish body/curse to force them to switch out often so that lots of hazard damage gets distributed, helping your choice scarf houndstone sweep through in the end (as long as you clear out the normal types first). Phantom force, strength sap, and minimize help stall out curse/poison damage. I really like the theme of "the past comes back to haunt you", mostly in the form of Last Respects, and any chip damage you took that breaks sash or otherwise stops you surviving the houndstone. Cursosla Perish body / sitrus berry Stealth rocks/ strength sap/ ancient power/ curse Dhelmise Steelworker / colbur berry Anchor shot/ rapid spin/ brick break/ phantom force Gengar Cursed body / covert cloak Shadow ball/ perish song/ toxic spikes/ sludge bomb Chandelure Flame body / lax incense Flamethrower/ hex/ curse/ minimize Annihilape Defiant / assault vest Cross chop/ stomping tantrum/ outrage/ rage fist Houndstone Fluffy / choice scarf Last respects/ bulldoze/ play rough/ crunch Drain punch does make more sense on annihilape, I'm not sure why I picked cross chop honestly. And your dusclops set is sick, that could do really well with toxic spikes and rocks, it could be a good substitute for my chandelure
*13:48* i personally like to run a punching move like the elemental punches and then give it a punching glove since all of its attacking moves would benefit from it (and even blocks effects that trigger on contact). but id say stomping tantrum is also good for the purposes of normal types that switch into rage fist, which would mean that stomping tantrum's power is doubled
ghost type is my FAVORITE type and this video makes me so happy. two of my three favorite pokémon are mimikyu and gengar. dusclops’ design makes me so upset and hurts me on a spiritual level so i would’ve switched it out for golurk!!! great video
I always liked the idea that the Ghost Gym leader starts the battle by talking. They send out five Pokemon, you battle five Pokemon, and then the battle seems to end. Then the Gym Leader says, "..." Then their sixth Pokemon appears. You defeat them and the gym leader stays silent. One of the gym helpers gives you the badge and congratulates you. Interacting with the gym leader after a victory only results in a "..." message.
I've always wanted a ghost type gym in a haunted library. You search for books, they come out and attack as poltergeists, things like that. Before my match, the gym leader would tell you to check out the books while i get your tea ready. Itd be a potion type item that cures any status effect and heals 20. The gym leader would then use a lot of status effects to weaken your team, then a Polteageist to finish off a weakened team. The team would start out with a Runerigus. Toxic spikes, Wil o wisp, Pain split/earthquake, Grudge would make for an annoying first encounter. You would lose your ability, and potentially all pp of your main ghost killer move. Trevenant would come out next to abuse the toxic spikes. Leech seed, substitute, horn leech and phantom force would make for an annoying pokemon to deal with. add in harvest and a sitrus berry, and if Trevenant gets going he will be hard to stop. Third up would be a cursed body jellicent. Hex, scald, Recover, and toxic or whirlpool would make another nice bulky staller Chandelure would round out the fire-water-grass core. I think a simple set of substitute, destiny bond, shadow ball, and fire blast could be effective. with a custap berry to get one more destiny bond or big fire blast off at the end, and substitute to get to that point, Chandelure could easy punch a hole in or take out 2 pokemon. I will round the team off with a Polteageist, the perfect pokemon for this gyms vibe. shell smash/nasty plot, shadow ball, stored power, giga drain would make for a fearsome cleaner after rounds of toxic stall and substitute shenanigans. Gholdengo would make for an amazing addition to the team, countering poison types that want to absorb the toxic spikes, but doesn't fit the overall vibe of the team.
When you’re surrounded by doom and gloom and death all the time, you can’t help but find the joy in the little things. Also, Death doesn’t have to be scary, I think that’s why so many ghost specialists tend to be so upbeat.
I actually used to play mono-ghost teams because it's my favorite type (I've decided to stop doing that now, instead I'm going to build teams around my starter's secondary typing to make sure to switch it up sometimes), but when I did my mono-ghost teams I used trick or treat Pumpkaboo so much. Another pokemon I feel like I used a lot was Drifblim.
Imagine a ghost type gym that takes place in a haunted house attraction. So the gym trainers are the actors inside and they jumpscare you to initiate challenges. And of course the gym leader is the final scare.
For a Gym in a Homebrew Scandinavian region, I made my Ghost-type Gym Leader a PokéMaid. PokéMaids and PokéButlers take care of old castles, acting as their stewards and making sure they're a safe habitat for the various species of Pokemon that make ruins their home. Because they often deal with Ghost-types, PokéMaids/Butlers are paired with an Indeedee, in part for their Ghost-type Immunity and also because they fit the theme, but otherwise their teams are predominately Ghost-types. The actual Gym Leader uses Aegislash, Rotom, Polteageist, Chandelure, Spiritomb, Indeedee (although the region has a circuit system, so her team varies depending on the exact number of badges, though she is in the final circuit before the Elite Four so is meant to be tough). Her Indeedee is often switched out for a Gengar. This Gengar is the owner of the Mansion where the Gym/PokéMaid school is located. Usually the Gengar referees the challenger matches, but may decide to switch in depending on if they think a challenger is worthy enough.
aw yeah lets go baby, we're building the gym for my (second) favorite type! ever since playing ruby as a kid and catching a duskull, I've loved ghosts and always tried to jam them into my teams. Looking forward to steel and ground as well (aegislash better be on the steel team or else)
After you get through all the types you should have an A.I. controlled tournament for the teams. Considering you have counters in mind when building these I feel like it would be interesting to watch
Finishing up the video late for Halloween but still presenting it as a Halloween special is such a power move, witch hats off to you! (For what it's worth, we in your Mexican audience can always pretend it was dropped on November intentionally for Día de Muertos. ❤)
Gwah ha ha! Nice alliteration! In an old fangame idea writeup I never quite finished, the Ghost-type leader, first found in a ruined fortress before moving to her gym, may or may not be an actual ghost. Her "Final" team was listed as Sableye, Polteageist, Chandelure, a regional Ghost/Rock Rampardos (obviously not an option here), Aegislash, and a bulky Mega Golurk, because of course I gave it a custom Mega, it's my favorite Pokémon. Aside from the mentioned picks, some other standouts are Rotom (could run a Scarf Trick set), Sinistcha (Great for Doubles!), Decidueye (may fit better as a Grass type?), and Brambleghast (possibly in Doubles with a Tailwind setter like Drifblim or Oricorio-Sensu).
So at the end of the series we get your perfect team to take on all of the gyms. One squad of six pokemon no swapping them out for better match ups, then a video of you playing someone on team builder using your gym leader squads vs your ideal 6 Pokemon team
Gholdengo is absolutely used for being a ghost type in competitive (at least singles). No rapid spin. No taunt. No to a LOT of things. It's immunity, which was Ghost's whole thing, ignoring the three strongest moves since gen 1 in Self Destruct, Explosion, and Hyper Beam. However, you aren't setting Rocks or Spikes with Cofagrigus, so it makes sense to leave Gholdengo off, since that spin immunity isn't needed, and also, *everyone* is immune to spin.
Can you imagine if Revival Blessing got on a Ghost type? Immediately add that one to the team, you get Annihilape twice, keeping the Rage Fists boosts AND adding another 50 onto Last Respects, because Last Respects counts the number of faints rather than the number of fainted Pokémon.
15:01 I would go with assault vest and giga drain to hit ground types and boost your special defense up to fluttermane levels, but destiny bond is fun too. I used to use a choice scarf haunter with curse and destiny bond on my ghost type team on showdown and it usually got the job done lol
For the Water-type gym leader, it could be cool if it were to be a double battle, as there are so many water types that are really good in the doubles format (e.g. Politoed, Rotom-Wash) as well as a bunch of abilities and moves that thrive when next to each other (e.g. Surf/Other water spread move + Water Absorb/Storm Drain, Dondozo+Tatsugiri).
So my perception about the ghost type and their trainers is that they're misunderstood. Since gen 1, ghosts have always been shown to be silly or fun near those they are comfortable with, and the creepiness only comes from misunderstanding and fear. Ghosts are damaged, hurt, wanting help. A ghost trainer would ideally be someone who, while maybe quiet around most people, is someone very loving and eager to help those in need. They comfort those who have suffered loss, and have lost themselves. If they were to fully embody the ghost type, they'd have pokemon that exhibit this caring. Spiritomb fits as it comes from tortured souls who were cruel in a past life, but now possibly seeking redemption. Solid option. Annihlape would fit as well, the trainer would want to help calm it's rage, and we'd maybe see it find peace for brief periods. I can see it, but doesn't feel like an ideal fit. Mimikyu could get the love and attention it seeks and would bond closely with their trainer. Would be an amazing lead imo. Gengar being a prankster was shown in the anime to just be trying to make friends because it is lonely, he fits perfectly and is a must include. Houndstone fits perfectly as well, being loving and remembering those who have been lost. Definitely an auto include for the final pokemon, but I think the Ace would fit better coming out earlier in the fight instead, being the rare exception of "best for last". The Ace I think should be Dragapult. Perfectly embodies the caring, nurturting side of ghost types that seems to be the focus of the type once you look past the creepy first impression. Dusclops, while strong defensively, just doesn't fit the vibes heavily enough for me to feel like they fit. I agree with not including the steel types, as they feel more like possessed metals than proper ghosts. I think Skeledirge could also be a good include over Annihlape or Spiritomb. I think 2 pokemon that could use help to be less villainous is a bit much for vibes, and Skeledirge singing for those who have passed and representing Dia de los Muertos, a holiday many celebrate to remember those they have loved and lost, would perfectly round out the team. My team would be; Lead: Mimikyu, holding Life Orb, using Swords Dance, Shadow Claw, Play Rough, Trailblaze 2nd: Gengar, holding Choice Scarf, using Trick, Shadow Ball, Sludge Wave, Focus Blast 3rd: Annihlape with Defiant, holding Chesto Berry, using Rest, Rage Fist, Drain Punch, Taunt 4th: Skeledirge with Unaware, holding Leftovers, using Sing, Hex, Torch Song, Will-o-wisp 5th/Ace: Dragapult with Clear Body, holding Leichi Berry, using Dragon Dance, Baton Pass, Dragon Darts, Phantom Force 6th: Houndstone with Fluffy, holding Spell Tag, using Last Respects, Stomping Tantrum, Body Press, Play Rough
A pokemon I would've liked to see purely because of the way it looks is Trevenant. I think its design is a perfect combination between creepy and powerful.
After you finish this series, you should make a single trainer team that could beat all these gyms you’ve built
The Shepsky Champion
That would be epic

Absolutely love the Decidueye pick too! Easily one of the coolest starters to date.
@@shepskydad Decidueye is easily my favorite starter and a top 5 all time Pokémon for me, so yes while I’m very biased, it was really hard not to include it even with already having Gourgiest (plus Grass is my second favorite type).
Cool team! That drifblim set is scary, seems like some really fun synergy
Literally as i was writing down competitive pokemon for later use, this comes up and im excited!
Ooo this is the one I’ve been most excited for!!
Now I have more reasons to love Ghost type. Awesome team build 👻💪🏼
Allister really needs a hug. He is a shy boy.
Also, since you did Ghost how about you did Dark next episode?
Allister is a boy?
@@SnitchyBeQuark1280 Yeah
I never played or watched competitive but i know from experience how great my boy Annihilape really is. Besides, that made my have an appreciation for the entire Mankey line and I finish both Scarlet and Violet with of of them in my team.
YES, my favourite type! This is the one I've been most excited for since you started!
How many times did you have to record the alliteration in the begining?!?! That was awesome
Literally just waiting for each of these videos from you, so well presented.
The alliterations were Fsg level amazing
Pre-gen 6 all Spiritomb with Wonderguard.
I have been waiting for this Gym Leader for a while. Hands down favorite type.
Consider switching dazzling gleam for toxic spikes and having it use its high speed to spread them and set up for hexes in other pokemon
Most excited for the fighting type gym. I feel like the pokemon on it have a super diverse arsenal and the whole concept of gym battles really derives from martial arts. I may be biased, but I'd love to see that next!
Yes! I've been looking forward to another video like this. Thanks, Shepsky!
WOOOO GHOST TYPES THE BEST TYPE WOOOOOOO I LOVE GHOSTS WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
real :))
So hyped to see the Ghost entry for this series as it’s my favourite type, and I’m certainly quite happy with the choices made for the team :D (rip Hisuian Zoroark though)
Allister is my favourite gym leader as he reminds me of myself a bit when I was a kid; timid and dislikes people, mostly spends time alone, and puts on a mask when around other people (for me it’s more figurative than literal)
Dang this is perfectly timed for halloween! Nice job!
I'm convinced this video is 2 weeks late just to come up with that intro
For theming having the gym leader being a actual ghost with there ace being a shiny houndstone being yellow (ol yeller) why I've been the gym leader Fer longer then most I don't mind I have my best bud so all's good
I perfer g corsola for eveolit with cursed body willowisp calm mind hex straight sap
Some theme idea for your future steel team Viking with purserker aegislash and make it a double battle with pur steeley spirit and slash going spe attack steel beam with shell bell
Yay, we love this series 👏🏻
This is my comfort channel fr my fav silly man
Ah yes Halloween video the definite time it is😂
Love this series keep it up man !!
I have been waiting for this one!
Obsessing over objectively impressive illustrious eloquent and ominous alliteration.
Cursosla
Perish body / sitrus berry
Stealth rocks/ strength sap/ ancient power/ curse
Dhelmise
Steelworker / colbur berry
Anchor shot/ rapid spin/ brick break/ phantom force
Gengar
Cursed body / covert cloak
Shadow ball/ perish song/ toxic spikes/ sludge bomb
Chandelure
Flame body / lax incense
Flamethrower/ hex/ curse/ minimize
Annihilape
Defiant / assault vest
Cross chop/ stomping tantrum/ outrage/ rage fist
Houndstone
Fluffy / choice scarf
Last respects/ bulldoze/ play rough/ crunch
Drain punch does make more sense on annihilape, I'm not sure why I picked cross chop honestly. And your dusclops set is sick, that could do really well with toxic spikes and rocks, it could be a good substitute for my chandelure
Great video as always!
I love these. Such a great concept.
While the punching glove isnt iron first by any means, it's still a 10% boost
Up until gen 5, explosion used to silently half the defense of the target, so it was effectively base 500 power
oh how the mighty have fallen
4:53 SPIRITOMB MENTIONED LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
Now THIS is a spooky team. Especially if the gym leader is over there menacingly not even using verbal commands
No dragapult?
Probably saving for Dragon type leader :0
@@ar1456That would be my guess
He maybe reserving it for dragon
It feels more like a dragon type than a ghost type
Yeah it’s probably saved for the dragon type gym leader
I’ve been waiting for this video! Ghost type forever 👻🖤
ghost type is my FAVORITE type and this video makes me so happy. two of my three favorite pokémon are mimikyu and gengar. dusclops’ design makes me so upset and hurts me on a spiritual level so i would’ve switched it out for golurk!!! great video
1 left before we have a full region
I always liked the idea that the Ghost Gym leader starts the battle by talking. They send out five Pokemon, you battle five Pokemon, and then the battle seems to end.
Then the Gym Leader says, "..."
Then their sixth Pokemon appears.
You defeat them and the gym leader stays silent. One of the gym helpers gives you the badge and congratulates you. Interacting with the gym leader after a victory only results in a "..." message.
I’ve seen you on a lot of the funky quiz videos, and after seeing this you just got a new subscriber, and I got a new channel to binge🤩
Great team and video as usual 😁
Hex, scald, Recover, and toxic or whirlpool would make another nice bulky staller
Chandelure would round out the fire-water-grass core. I think a simple set of substitute, destiny bond, shadow ball, and fire blast could be effective. with a custap berry to get one more destiny bond or big fire blast off at the end, and substitute to get to that point, Chandelure could easy punch a hole in or take out 2 pokemon.
I will round the team off with a Polteageist, the perfect pokemon for this gyms vibe. shell smash/nasty plot, shadow ball, stored power,
giga drain would make for a fearsome cleaner after rounds of toxic stall and substitute shenanigans.
Gholdengo would make for an amazing addition to the team, countering poison types that want to absorb the toxic spikes, but doesn't fit the overall vibe of the team.
My ghost gym would be an abandoned mansion and there will be a ghost type duo of an old butler and old maid as an elder couple
When you’re surrounded by doom and gloom and death all the time, you can’t help but find the joy in the little things. Also, Death doesn’t have to be scary, I think that’s why so many ghost specialists tend to be so upbeat.
16:21 well, we now know 2 of the 6 steel monotype team and that one of them won’t be Scizor. Interesting…
Which one is the other? Idt sheepsky would add both steel/ghost types
If it's an 8th gym leader, I'd imagine it at level 59 since that's the highest 8th gym leader level in the mainline series (XY)
Dude I NEED this to keep making the gym leaders for my region
I don't know if you already have him on the Water team, but where's ma boi Basculegion?
Imagine a ghost type gym that takes place in a haunted house attraction.
So the gym trainers are the actors inside and they jumpscare you to initiate challenges.
And of course the gym leader is the final scare.
This is where I’m ok with dupes, cos Hisuian Zoroark is just that good
The alliteration (but it starts with a C, I don’t remember the name for it) with the beginning is insane!
I've been waiting for this
aw yeah lets go baby, we're building the gym for my (second) favorite type! ever since playing ruby as a kid and catching a duskull, I've loved ghosts and always tried to jam them into my teams. Looking forward to steel and ground as well (aegislash better be on the steel team or else)
After you get through all the types you should have an A.I. controlled tournament for the teams. Considering you have counters in mind when building these I feel like it would be interesting to watch
I'm glad Gengar is respected for his years of service o7
The perfect ghost type gym leader sends out 6 Fluttermane and giggles knowing that you hate them.
Finishing up the video late for Halloween but still presenting it as a Halloween special is such a power move, witch hats off to you!
(For what it's worth, we in your Mexican audience can always pretend it was dropped on November intentionally for Día de Muertos. ❤)
Was getting Halloween withdrawals… thank you 👻
Thank you for doing my fav type :3
18:30 "ghosts... I saw... things..."
I do feel that chandelure is also an iconic ghost pokemon. Little sad that it wasn't on the team :(
I hope to see a fan gam with these gyms or a fan fiction story
15:01 I would go with assault vest and giga drain to hit ground types and boost your special defense up to fluttermane levels, but destiny bond is fun too. I used to use a choice scarf haunter with curse and destiny bond on my ghost type team on showdown and it usually got the job done lol
THE SHEPSKIE'S TOOTH IS FINALLY FULL LET'S GOOO
My team would be;
Lead: Mimikyu, holding Life Orb, using Swords Dance, Shadow Claw, Play Rough, Trailblaze
2nd: Gengar, holding Choice Scarf, using Trick, Shadow Ball, Sludge Wave, Focus Blast
3rd: Annihlape with Defiant, holding Chesto Berry, using Rest, Rage Fist, Drain Punch, Taunt
4th: Skeledirge with Unaware, holding Leftovers, using Sing, Hex, Torch Song, Will-o-wisp
5th/Ace: Dragapult with Clear Body, holding Leichi Berry, using Dragon Dance, Baton Pass, Dragon Darts, Phantom Force
6th: Houndstone with Fluffy, holding Spell Tag, using Last Respects, Stomping Tantrum, Body Press, Play Rough
A pokemon I would've liked to see purely because of the way it looks is Trevenant. I think its design is a perfect combination between creepy and powerful.
Can't wait for the dragon team video! (it's gonna be 6 pseudos)
