I've replaced the nut (over a long time) on two acoustic guitars to get a wider string spacing, just nearer the fret ends if you like / fuller width of fret board, made a world of differance,
you said so much without telling literally any of the benefits of narrow nut vs. wide nut except at 2:17 but that did nothing for me. I'm an electric player so maybe that's why but I really wish someone on TH-cam would talk about the actual differences for string spacing and nut width in a succinct and clear way for people who just want to know what the differences would do for the guitars they're looking at buying instead of all this "it's really a personal preference so come to our website and buy something idk"
I have big hands and fat fingers. My Legend steel string acoustic has a nut width of 43mm and not wide enough. Is it possible to have the nut changed to one with larger string spacings?
I found that weird too. At least for me that's the most noticeable thing for my fretting hand, more important than nut width. But for some reason sellers almost never list this spec
Agreed, I can't recall seeing string spacing specs for any guitar. So, even though a nut width may be wider, it doesn't necessarily equate to wider string spacing?
That was useful. However, I heard from "Sillymoustache" on youtube about the 1"13/16 inch Collings that he has and how for him the wide necks make it very easy to play.
Love hearing this guy talk about his nut width

Best video yet I've found. I just bought a guitar that I'm taking back. It's only an 1/ 8 smaller than the 1" 3/4 = 1" 5/8 is to tight of spacing.
Omg. Yes I'm def going to ask my local luthier to customize the nut so I don't give up playing again! Thank you for this!
The intonation changes and goes sharp at the first fret if you tuck the high e string inwards. Any solutions?
Looking for electric hardbody with 1 inch 7/8 nut and 2 inch 1/4 string spacing, is there such a make or model.
Is bigger nut width better for bigger hands? 🙏🖐
most likely! it'll prevent cramping and it'll probably be easier for open chords as well.
Yes.

It is a personal preference. The playability of a guitar is mostly subjective.

I use a capo at the 3rd fret - which makes it the ...nut.... kind of try it
I found this very helpful, thank you.
Nut spacing yes but I never see the string spacing on guitar specs, looking for the acoustic that has the same string spacing as my stratocaster

Came for the education... stayed for the socks. 🙂
Can Somebody tell me the Standard nut and Butt width on an 8 String?

I thought he gonna hold the guitar at any time!
inches are so complicated
I like your vids, but as other comments point out, didn't really teach us anything except the existence of differences.
Anything under 1 3/4 width I avoid. No matter the brand or price.
You lost me at inches, I'm a metric person from Aus.
Clickbait to get you to the site
FYI socks don't match
you his wife?
They do indeed match; cuz he goes by thickness.
@@iloverumi No I'm your dad.
Not helpful imperial should be done and dusted.
I wish you yanks would just give up and use metric already. This shit kills me 😂
Will you please use metric. What is wrong with you guys!
🤣🤣
what a waste of time...hmm i learned nothing
