All this movie needs to do aside from making money is to be loved by critics & the general audience. Repairing the damage done to DC brand is like rebuilding a football team, it's a gradual process.
It's a codependent relationship, and it always has been; the competition will rise, and Marvel will feel the heat to come back out on top; this film needs to be a success for all comic films in general.
Just like Superman stands for hope so those this movie hope for the future of the DCU I’m going to support 100% ill rewatch this movie multiple times I want this universe to succeed! Not just marvel! DC too!!!
I don’t think we have to worry about this movie failing cuz hundreds of millions of people got wind of the film and it’s a summer blockbuster movie and everyone is gonna want to be going to theaters after work, kids with their friends for an action packed movie, and the film is now being highly anticipated. Everyone talked about The Flash for the reasons leading to not going to the film. Superman is the complete opposite
I think Superman will impact not just Warner Brothers and the DCU, but it will impact the movie industry as a whole not just the comic book genre! Online critics have just about destroyed the movie industry single handedly with their heavy handed negative reviews. They don't critique these movies for their artistic and literary values, but they nitpick silly little things like the color of the suit and the look of his hair. These movie studios won't be able to make any kind of movies if negative reviews cause people to not go to movie theaters to see them when there are too many other options for entertainment like online streaming and sports events. These studios won't be able to afford to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on the next successful billion dollar block buster that comes only once or twice a year. So, either people are going to support the movie industry or they are not, and it will disappear within 5 to 10 years. Maybe, the trend is online and cable platforms. Maybe, the movie industry is dead, dying, or on life support. All I know is that we are going to find out in a matter of a couple of years or so!!!!
I mean the truth of the matter is like anything. If you give a studio who feels like they have no competition, some legitimate competition, they're going to step their game up and get even better and that going to work for all the fans because then we get some great DC content. We get some great marvel content so everybody wins because right now when a studio gets comfortable and feels like well, we're the only game in town so you ain't got to worry about whether you get good or bad because we the only ones around anyway. But once you take that away from them, take away that comfortability and say look. Now you got legit competition. You going to have to step your game up that forces them to make better decisions and think about the content that they're putting out. So I really do hope that this movie does exactly what I feel like it will do which is me and reinvigorate the DC brand
I think they will still do the DCU anyway but I can see the Snyder verse getting a continuation maybe as an anime with the original cast voicing them but other than that it’s dead in the water
I understand the sentiment expressed, but by the same token, comics and film are different mediums which, in some ways, can and should do different things. The opportunity and obstacle of superhero movies has always been the task of bringing something new that only a movie can while condensing a lot of story and history without completely losing what makes the property familiar and popular and therefore attractive to audiences in the first place. Ang Lee’s HULK is certainly not as fun a movie as it should be, but it draws from particular comics in the character’s history (mostly by Peter David, I think) and Lee actually tries hard - maybe too hard - to evoke the comics with his brilliant colors and even his attempt to split the screen into comic-like panels. The problem I’ve always had with the MCU is that the style and design has been so homogenized. In real life, in this one timeline, on this one planet, different cities look, well… different. Not so much in the MCU unless they’re on different worlds. However well you think Tim Burton’s 1989 BATMAN has or has not aged in 35 years, the fact that he was allowed to deviate stylistically from previous Batman shows and movies helped to really create the rich superhero movie culture we enjoy today.
I’m definitely sure it will succeed. If the trailer is anything to go by with how crazy it looks, then the actual film itself I think will do very well.
Superman has to make tons of money. If it doesn't, DC will be finished. With countless flops in a role, based upon a lack of focus, and humans at WB not knowing anything about DC, the brand is extremely damaged. TERRANCE OUT
It will succeed, but i hope they aren't expecting MCU. Infinity War and Endgame were too good, they created the idea that everything after has to be that good and still fans can't let go. It's like when someone rawdogs your brains out you can't stop thinking about it. Even after 10 years of marriage you're still thinking about that night
I’m not too happy with the new Superman and thin that Henry would’ve done better… but enough whining about poor casting choices. I LOVE Superman and sincerely hope that Gunn will do the IP justice. In Gunn’s pursuit to be different from Marvel, I hope that he stays true to the characters.
No they aren't. The Batman made decent money and so did the MCU Spider-man movies. Lion King 2019 made a billion. The Planet of the Apes movies made bank, Beauty and the Beast live action made a billion. Many are excited for Daredevil Born Again, etc. etc, stop hating.

They didn't. The Suicide Squad is the first movie in the story, and Peace maker and creature commandos follow that movie. Superman is just a reboot of Snyder verse.
You're not the best to say if they adapt the comics well or badly.... and if they adapted some things well, it's not a perfect movie but let's not pretend that it's the movie Steel or something like that.
I don't want a crappy movie. If anything that's what I'm seeing between fans. Now different fans like different things. But what I'm saying is not promising. Hopefully there's a lot of time before they release the movie to fix anything. But considering Hollywood's history I've learned to set my standards real low.
It's gonna bomb, the whole Hollywood industry is suffering, not just comic book movies. Thanks to streaming and leaks all over the place, plus it looks like a parity of the Boy's, just less violent.
Comic book movies are doing fine, that's why they keep making them. The only bombs in the MCU was the Marvels, mostly everything else made money, even movies many hated like Thor Love and Thunder and Wakanda Forever. Ant man under performed but most studios would kill for that money. Comic book movies are keeping Hollywood afloat. Dead pool just made a billion and Guardians 3 made decent money and NWH made a billion. After the general audience has sat out the last eight or nine bombs I've yet to see anything sbout this movie that's gonna bring them back... It looks cheap and derivative, repeating the exact same things that were called mistakes in the Snyder universe by introducing too many heroes in one movie, but maybe the story will be good. It also doesn't help that its sandwiched between the next Jurassic movie and Fantastic Four, even though that gives them a prime release date in July...Time will tell....

Hope Superman does well. Because I would love to see a great DC Universe.
I an rooting for you too succeed DC 👍
it relies on more first 3-5 movies being huge not just superman

He doesn't have to worry about anything. The color looks good. Cameos from other characters like Nathan Fillion. This will be epic.
I am rooting for the success for this movie
We cannot go back to basics anymore . This movie is riding on everything and I mean EVERYTHING
If Superman fails then get ready for another decade of DC = only Batman. It’s poetic that the fate of the DC Universe rests on Superman’s shoulders.
