    I buy ready tied because of plumbers fingers etc.
    I love the Drennan plate 6” hooks either plain or banded/ quick stop. Never had one fail when pole fishing. Caught carp up to 17 1/2 lbs

    Have to say shop bought man myself for all the same reasons. Now if your a top angler I get it but the shop ones are really good these days. Size 12QM1 for me. Also can you believe that the hook tier is still the same design after all these years, what an invention 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @Scottsoutdoorchannel
      @Scottsoutdoorchannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The design for the matchman tyer is a work of genius in my opinion, and the QM1 is one of the best hooks ever designed.

    I tie all my own hooks. That way there’s only me to blame if one lets me down. Also I use different size hairs/bayonets for different baits so tying my own gives me e more options.

    • @Scottsoutdoorchannel
      @Scottsoutdoorchannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good point actually about length of hair and bayonet size for different baits, thanks for sharing

      I don’t Scott but I’ve invested in one for the long term cos of my hands
      And I’m a stubborn git as I only use kamasan hooks too power line 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤣🤣🤣😉😉

    I tie a most of my hooklengths myself. It can be a bit of a chore, but being able to match lines to hooks of my choosing, makes it worth it. I no longer tie size 20's and smaller because my eyesight isn't up to it. Fortunately I don't use that many hooks over the course of a year, probably less than 150 so it isn't such a big deal. If I was on the bank more often then I could see myself buying a lot more pre tied.
    Just out of interest would the Drennan hook tyer work in the WE Products tying station, or does it have to be a Matchman?

    • @Scottsoutdoorchannel
      @Scottsoutdoorchannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure on that, if the Drennan one is the same diameter then I assume it would but the station comes with a matchmen tyer already installed.

      @phve2jh8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ScottsoutdoorchannelI doubt it makes a huge difference, but I've used the Drennan hook tyer for so long I think I could tie hooklengths in the dark. I would image the Matchman is just as easy to use.

    I try my own hooks, I still own a EZEE hook tie tool which is similar to yours.

    Tend to use Guru for Hair Rigs but for hook only I tie my own. I can’t tie hair rigs sadly but the line choice on pre-tied rigs is poor usually.

    • @Scottsoutdoorchannel
      @Scottsoutdoorchannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it can be tricky to find exactly what you need with line diameter in pre tied sometimes but the drennan range have always been good for me in most sizes

      Maybe, but it depends how much you value your time too, I fish at least twice a week and spending an hour or 2 tying hooks is time I could spend on other stuff
