Our second daughter (Olivia) was just born three days ago. I am watching this while holding her in my arms and looking forward to her future... this kind of video is such a breath of fresh air. Thank you so much, Jordan.
Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I have 1 word that you should remember as she grows; HOMESCHOOL This from a woman that recently celebrated the graduation of her only child from a US university after he attended public schools. He’s a brilliant, critical thinker, and he feels the education system in America is poison!
Congratulations! Now the hard part: protecting her from the poison of feminism. I struggle daily with how guide my daughter around that quagmire without making her jaded or paranoid. Best wishes!
@@vstick2603 Congratulations on your daughter's graduation. It's a great and important achievement during a global pandemic. We don't have to deal with the US public education system (we live in Northern Europe). I am aware that education is a more disputed issue than faith, politics, or sexuality, so my opinion is not 'general advice'. I believe that home-eduction is not an option, it's mandatory (if you can 'afford' the time investment). And it has to complement (not supplement) what the children learn at school. This is what 'great' parents do (in my opinion). They share tacit knowledge (i.e., cultural and social capital) according to their children's individual needs and talents. They basically treat every child differently although they all share the same values. True values are not taught and declared, they evolve through the acts and interaction in the family, they are understood at a near tacit level by everyone. In other words, "Your actions [in education] speak so loudly, I can not hear what you are saying.” (R. W. Emerson) Our two older children both attend a private school and while many children (at public and private schools) were unfortunately challenged by the pandemic, our older daughter enjoyed mommy's and daddy's extra tutoring hours and is going to skip a grade. It seems that even education during the pandemic is subject to the 'Matthew effect' ("For to every one who has will more be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away." (Matthew 25:29,).
Jordan, you are a gift to the human race. Your bravery, intelligence and resilience in the face of horrifying detriment are so inspiring. I pray for your continued resilience and genius. I pray you never give up, despite the undeserved madness constantly cast your way. You are one of the few people who give me hope for the future and for my infant sons future.
I may not always agree with him, but I admire him for floating his useful ideas out there, exposed, and engages in civil debate. Most academics prefer their cozy ivory towers, impervious, and assume us lower beings would never understand.
Dear God... Please provide this man the long-gift of prosperity and productivity, intertwined with the equal, for his family and close and intimate supporters. If this prayer should be humbly permitted, ALL of humanity, as your main concern, Will fare much better. I feel this in my soul... Amen.
In the course of the past 18 months I have lost my mother, a dear friend, my brother-in-law, my wife of 41 years and my father. To say it has been traumatic and difficult is an understatement...for me, my three children and my nine grandchildren. Having been introduced to JP by my brother a few short months ago has been a Godsend and a blessing. He has a gift of taking abstract thoughts that I've mused upon for years and bringing them into fierce focus all in a short couple of lines of writing or a passing comment in an interview. The man is legend and all the more so with his complete absence of ego. World treasure in my estimation.
There is still a noticeable amount of excess ego left in him, but he is working diligently to burn it off, steadily & persistently. I love the guy to my core & he has done more for me than almost anyone I know, so bashing him is not why I'm saying this. I love him & I'm saying this because I see how much more he will be once that excessive ego gets even more burned off than it already is
I had a "trifecta" of sorts in 2020: I broke my ankle under trying circumstances, the Covid event was just starting, with it's initial panic and isolation, and my Dad died in a nursing home two months later, defenseless, having also been forbidden any visits in that time. I managed to hang on, mostly by my fingernails, to my mental stability, but I paid for it in gallons of tears and a (so far) permanent change in outlook. Any cheerfulness or optimism is now a gift, and often comes as a surprise. But I'm a firm believer that horrible experiences contain a good that one might never get without the nightmare. Mine was being hammered with gratitude for the treasures I had only been casual about. It is still a beautiful world.
I am a 77 year old American who has learned an incredible amount of knowledge in the past 6 months from listening to Dr. Peterson! I truly hope that Dr. Peterson can create a “new” educational system for of all in the future by way of TH-cam or another venue.
@Terry Roberts, Jordan Peterson and Thomas Sowell , for me are between of the most brilliant minds of our time. And Dr. Thomas Sowell has been speaking and dissecting many of what were living now for more than 30 years!!! And as the Venezuela situation some point into the conversation ( is bad news but isn't news...) very little people know the existence of the man. In fact Venezuela wins in this case...Still more people are aware of the Country in question than the brilliance of Thomas Sowell. Between Americans. Yes if you listen carefully (and think...) Dr. Jordan Peterson and Thomas Sowell an different world unveils . Every single interview and debate with Thomas Sowell is being observing the brilliant of the human mind. Actually, can't get my head around in WHY on earth Jordan Peterson and Thomas Sowell didn't seated for an absolutely delightful moment of knowledge.
I first watched Dr Peterson a couple of years ago, right here on U tube..,.. I believe he was still teaching back then, and I ended up watching for the next two years.
When he's gone one day, we will have to carry the torch. In fact we can carry it now, share his teachings and pass along his positive messages to loved ones and neighbors. I wish everyone could absorb what we've had the privilege to learn from him already ♡
@@bobhenflix1800 Not to play devils advocate, but Peterson brings to a mass audience, discussion on topics that most avoid, and generally many positive things can be learned and had from said discussions. Things such as responsibility, self accountability, self awareness, things that are not really pleasant to come to face with, but come out as a arguably better individual and productive member of society for doing so. Many people admire him for pushing forth content that many have used to improve thier lifestyle, and get more out of life.
Jordan Peterson is a truly amazing person. He contributes so much goodness and positivity. He is full of wisdom, very intelligent and a wonderful communicator. The world is a much better place because of him.
Dr Peterson, I've never seen you smile this much. You look healthier every day. Brings tears of joy. You've been more of a father to me than my own father was. God bless you sir.
Hey Salty, I was thinking the same thing. When he first Re-appeared, after all the BS he suffered from the frauds in the AMA, his hosts made efforts to steer him to topics that kept him away from anything liable to crank up his tear ducts. But this discussion with another educated author allowed me to see a series of future lectures which the media will understand......... (I may be dreaming). Dave in Phoenix
Your long form, deep dive format is fantastic. I routinely invest 6 to 8 hours per week studying your lectures, podcasts, and participating in your online programs. All of which prepares me to continue to learn, grow, and attempt to slay ever bigger and bigger dragons. I am very grateful that you’re 35 years of studying hard work I’ve helped turn you into an overnight success. The world was quickly spinning out of control, And then not so smaller manner you’re helping to put it back on its axis. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m richer for it.
Venezuelan here... Venezuelan deterioration definitely started when people started applauding expropriations and free stuff and business owners were portrayed as the villains.
@@dw300 explanation of what? Capitalism? Socialism? Corruption? Capitalism is free markets (absence of government in the economy). Socialism is the opposite, central planning (government regulation or nationalization of markets). Corruption is corruption, abuse of power, nepotism, bribery, extortion, etc. Socialism, because power is centralized, can't escape corruption. But capitalism can, because power is decentralized (at least economically the government has less power over the market. That doesn't mean that politically its citizens are free). Capitalism is a necessary prerequisite to freedom, but not a sufficient one.
@@christopherhorn8539 why what never has? Capitalist countries are by far, less corrupt than socialist regimes. So that has already happened, and keeps happening.
Lately? nah.. by my measure he was always killing it. ;) Although certain, unfounded judgements on his character sure did try to kill that, didn't they!? Almost annoying to watch the same judgmental people finally look in a mirror and see that their judgments on him, were way more reflective of their own personal biases. Even more annoying to watch them sit in denial and continue down the same path of ignorance. Narratives with no logical basis tend to erode when time finally has a say. Happy to see him still at it and offering continual intellectual content for those of us who can some times feel starved of it.
True, I did just hear him tell Brett Weinstein from a few weeks ago, that it’s “deceiving”. He’s not feeling as good as he looks. Not to be downer, I just thought it’d be good to share.
My husband and I have been and are currently richly blessed through your podcasts. It is so refreshing to hear wisdom and common sense amidst the chaos of today. Keep up the good work. We continue to pray for you to be strengthened in mind and body. God bless you and your family especially during this holy season.
From india ,I am blessed to hear these intellect debate sitting at my home in these difficult times. I think these type of work is true blessings for the huminity.
Same. At first I just love listening to him I never really thought I could change deep down I just wanted to use some of his ideas in conversation as an attempt to make myself look more intelligent I guess and together for sure. But the more I listened the more I learned the more I learn the more I could apply and I found myself enjoying applying his teachings just as much if not more than I enjoyed listening to them. It can be life-changing. I’m a better person and I’m a stronger person because of this man. And my sons are as well. My relationship with my boys is better than ever and now I know how to be the father they need and help them be the man they want to become. Not sure I could put into words how to thank someone for a gift like that. I’ll try anyway, thank you Dr. Jordan Peterson. From the cockles of my heart!
As a Brazilian who lives in Amazon, I have to say that the guest made a huge mistake at 1:21:00 when he says that people are taking down the forest for food. The region is heavily underpopulated and FULL of rivers and getting food from fishing, fruits and sustainable agriculture is relatively a noon issue for the poor. The forest arre being taken down by rich industries for growing cow/soy or for mining.
@@chuckyspell Yep. For profit. Still, the grain and beef Europeans eat are from other Brazilian regions. And they use deforestation as an argument to sustains protective policies
Soy is used mostly to feed livestock only on a weight basis. But almost every bean is also used to feed humans the soybean oil they love to have in their potato chips and granola bars. It’s a seed oil crop first. We grow it instead of other seed oils because it has lots of livestock protein to offer in addition to the oil.
Woke up to this video at a silly time of 3am this morning having left TH-cam running in the background. It woke me up for a reason that's for sure. Listening about the world being so much better than I had thought has elevated me tremendously, which is much needed during these days of uncertainty. Thank you so much JBP and MT for your magnificent 10 global changes discussion.
We have all watched you literally act out that which you speak. You punch up, no matter how broken you are you push forward. Thanks for inspiring so many of us to do the same.

Truth. The entire planet does need him! I came from the biggest authoritarian country in the world, and Dr. Peterson has been my mentor in learning about the world for quite some time now.
This is a good one. I've been hearing it a lot more lately and I'm glad. Its so true and so easy for people to just brush it off because of the nature of our psychology. Its easier to fool some one than show them they are being fooled. SO TRUE.
I'm not even 10 mins in and the guy is talking about not believing false news etc. It's gotten to the point that so many people can't tell the difference. Plus many news agencies are pushing narratives and lying through omission (hence the reason I stopped watching the news all together). It's a total uphill battle and I doubt that us 3 in this comment thread are the norm when it comes to seeking enlightenment and truth. Most people couldn't care less and watch something mind numbing on Netflix instead of a podcast like this. So it's not going to be easy, especially when the FearP0rn media wants everyone scared of everything all the time.
When he says we have record mileage , not Jordan but the other man , he should refer to B Gates owning all ( or soon to be all ) the most fertal soil in the USA
Being originally from Venezuela, you have no idea how close is USA to get there, I remember that in Venezuela we used to said that what happened to Cuba will never happen to us, and here we are.
People choose to ignore what’s right in front of them until it’s too late. Celebrities, seeing how others pretend to live and junk tv is so much more important. I would love to be able to get off this planet 🏝
@@Violetta1912 I am sure you are not the only one that think that way, but after the chaos I’ve seem in Venezuela and the rest of the world for that matter, there are still beautiful things in this planet, and all the madness, it just makes me appreciate it much more. Hang in there 😊
It’s going on world wide, Sir. Canada has been put through hell, with this corrupt Leader. They aim to bring in one world government and thus a “New World Order” (the great reset), and reduce population. (With C0VID? Or vax?) Google Georgia guide stones.
The most important thing that should be on everyone mind currently should be to invest in different sources of income that doesn't depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the word. This is still a good time to invest in various stocks, Gold, silver and digital currencies.
I have been investing in stocks for over 10 years now and I have made a lot of money. My portfolio has grown exponentially and I can't thank stocks & ROCHELLE DUNGCA-SCHREIBER enough for such an amazing way to make money!
I'm in my fourth year of studying business and behavior health and I have learned more for Dr. Peterson's TH-cam than any textbook! Thank you for providing such quality content.
Indeed, JP is a treasure. Take it from me, I'm old enough to realize that no one gets out of this flesh life without at least two fistfuls of slippery horror.
I am always amazed when I listen to non farmers talk of the great strides made in agricultural production. Generally it is attributed to better seed, more fertilize, modern practices...... not realizing it is not so different from high achievement in any field. The new tools help but it is the skill and dedication of the artist that makes the difference. The special knowledge of the individuals that excel in any field is underapreciated as you both well know. A big share of the yield difference is the result of this artistry just as it is in any field. That's why there is generally a food surplus except when someone of the sorts of the WEF stick their finger in and help.
I am glad you are feeling better Dr. Peterson. You have made an impact in this world. Your name will never be forgotten. May god bless you and your family.
Not only that, but when people truly understand what he was saying in “Maps of Meaning”, the world will consider him one of its saviors and psychological pioneers. Just saying... 🥰🙏🏻
40 years ago, as a newlywed, we debated what the future would be and whether it was worth bringing children into the world. Now looking back, I'm glad that we were blessed with 2 wonderful children who have added positive things to this world and impacted many other people.
Once again JBP has a great conversation. Another example of pursuit of truth rather than what is politically advantageous. You strengthen the world by encouraging people to better themselves, Jordan. Keep getting stronger and let your truth adventure take you into and the rest of us to those undiscovered countries.
I am a teacher, and in my daily life I talk about ideas like this and the book from Steve Pinker "Better Angels of Our Nature" I am constantly talking to people about how more cellphones and the internet means we get to see every school bullying, every act of violence, and every bad thing that happens everywhere worldwide instead of just what happens in our little village like we would have had access 200 years or more ago. The news distribution is so good and if it bleeds it leads is such just how newspapers are fighting to keep selling papers and keep a job in the News. Since papers that have blood or violent anything sell more than anything else so News always makes us see the worse part of the world. While almost everything in generally getting better over time.
Probably true, but crime in the US is on the rise, this is real. One reason as in Mpls MN cops are standing down and the criminals know it. My point being that it takes very little effort to make things worse. The fact that things in general are getting better is the result of tons of hard work!!!!
I think people are predisposed to wanting and seeking bad news, and for the media and tv, it sells. People don’t want hear ‘everything’s ok, hum-drum news’ they are fascinated in the bad (and sometimes grim!). Why are so many crime dramas made of people aren’t watching them(?)!!!
In Venezuela not everyone is eating “cats and dogs”, if you are inherently rich you still living a fairly normal life, if you are with the government insiders, you are still living a normal life, it is the poor that got poorer and the middle class was forced to join the poor class due to the destruction of democracy and capitalism with the implementation of socialism. The corruption skyrocketed and took over the whole system, creating chaos for the most vulnerable.
It's an often omitted point when people say Socialism/Marxism does not work....It does not work FOR EVERYONE. The few at the top do VERY WELL. Activists pushing it know this, but they delude themselves into believing they will be part of the upper class once the new regime gets in. They never are- every new socialist regime sees a bloody stage where the revolutionary leaders get purged- last thing you want is people that were effective enough to bring down the last government. The ones who profit are the functionaries- the ones with the skills to navigate the apparatus. Putin is one of the best examples- a lawyer, turned KGB agent, he now is rumored to be the wealthiest person on the planet with a net worth approaching $2T. Bezos, Musk and Gates combined don't touch that. Unfortunately, this kind of success depends on a lot of capitalists being successful first, and then eliminating their claim to the fruits of their effort, but that is not the worst part- it invariably starves out the population by killing off any incentive for productivity. That last part has happened reliably in every case to date
Venezuela is a country that's being almost absolutely blocked by the United States since the South American country decided to start an independent way of development, as it always happens when a country makes the decision of not following the US dictades. Venezuela nationalized its natural resources; Venezuela has the largest oil reserves of the world and has also one of the largest world's reserves of gold, diamonds, natural gas and many other natural resources which US lost control over. The US sanctions do not even allow Venezuela to import medicines or food while the blocked country struggles with the Covid 19 pandemy. Meanwhile, the US is the most important ally of the middle age monarchy that has been commiting a genocide in one of the most miserable countries in the world as Yemen is, and signed with the Saudis the largest military contract of the world history. In Brazil, USA has done absolutely nothing about the neonazi president Jair Bolsonaro, a racist, declared enemy of the Amazon; as a matter of fact, the US has very close ties with Brazil, and both countries are having talks about establishing a militry base in Brazil, very possibly to take care for human rights and democracy. In the Milton Friedman's neoliberal paradises Colombia and Chile, how many people had been killed in the recent social explosions? What did the Democrats or the Republicants do about? What brutal and inmediate sanctions because of human rights violations are about to be taking by the US authorities? Why are they not so quick and preocupied when people are killed in countries that do not follow their orders? How many military bases are there in Colombia? 9, right? And even tough the impressive USA presence, Colombia remains as the most important world drug producer, not Venezuela. Interesting. It's easy to be on the easy side, on the comfortable one.
@@Luis-ox3rg Venezuela was mismanaged by the regimen prior to USA sanctions, not all is to blame for this. How is it that Chavez died so rich but was so poor when he took power, and his daughter is the richest Venezuelan woman nowadays living the big life abroad, Maduro and his allies are following on Chaves` footsteps and cashing out selling the country out to his friends in China, Russia, Iran along with destroying and ransacking much of Venezuela`s natural resources and precious environment. Venezuela has never being in worst shape, even when they were "dependant" on USA. If being a USA` "friend" is so bad, why the south Americans countries that are still "friends" are doing so much better in many aspects, of course not perfect (as nothing is or will be) but sooooooo much better than Venezuela?
Fantastic interview and content. Thank you Jordan for bringing this content to young people like me who have believed in the apocalyptic narrative for far too long. This gives me hope for humanity and our future.
Quite possibly the best 2 hours of news ever. This podcast should be played in schools. The world is not ending, we are not destroying the planet, life is so much better than we are being told.
Look "we" are not destroying "the planet" - but SOME climate trends show that the CIVILIZATION we appreciate is in great danger, and that is because TOO MUCH CARBONDIOXID is emitted into the ATMOSPHERE - and how come it still is so, is a complex issue. It is too complex to be suitable for some preformatted heated debate between republicans and democrats in the USA, such debate which "sells" the best. There is no "WE", there are many different actors, some more powerful than others, BUT the planet EARTH will make its journey around the sun till the sun loses its gravitational force. The highest civilization with all its precious improvements on life is what is at stake in the next decades.

The reason why education is so expensive is top heavy administration costs. If you observe the way these places are managed there is heavy overpaid admin, while you have underpaid teachers.
Yet most teachers would prefer to be teachers, not administrators. You have to pay them more to get the job done, don't have to pay a teacher as much to stay a teacher.
Just as in govt, colleges are top heavy with highly paid and hardly productive “administrators”. At least the college I know about (because I worked there) destroyed departments by getting rid of Chairs and other faculty and loading up on administrators because the former could not be fired and were protected by contracts whereas the latter were appointed as “at will” employees who could be fired without cause and so were under the power of the chancellor who was controlled by the State.
1:11:30 Being Portuguese and knowing a lot of people that lived in the 60's and well before that, this part of the talk is particularly touching, my grand father is 91 years old and he was from a wealthy farming family in the Azores islands, the wealth he talks about was having enough ground do have food and wood to stay warm and cook, and animals to work the ground, have milk eggs and some meet some times, now he has much more, and is middle class, we "new boys" are just so simply materialistic that don't realize that we actually need very very little to live quite well, in my view some people with the pandemic may move back to rural areas and have little farms for them will working trough the internet to get enough for every thing we all have and need that doesn't come from the ground
Yeah, just compare a Victorian nobleman's spending for living standards to what the same luxuries cost nowadays. We live better than any bygone king, harems and catapults full of snakes notwithstanding.
I’d love to hear these things discussed with a round table of spiritual leaders who, of course, have concerns about our inner lives, faith and disposition toward God & neighbor.
young people tend not to know history, they need to know the context in which the current negativity and complaining exist. They are targets, emotionally vulnerable to all the cynicism.
People in general do not look at something like UN statistics for the past several decades concerning types of diseases, etc. And if they do look at something they generally take the first source as 100% fact of how things went which is an even bigger lul. So you have the completely uninformed and the militant poorly informed who will fight to the death to defend the first bit of information they happened upon first. People who aren't interested in fighting for a position but to continually upgrade their knowledge base are rare. Everyone who doesn't use metaprogramming to ensure they don't fall into the trap of defending ego falls into that trap and falls prey to huge cognitive bias.
@@agnidas5816 good points. I am unfamiliar with 'metaprogramming' and curious to know what that means. Where can I learn more? (A quick google search helped me find the general theoretical context, but do you know a good source for this as a human sensemaking technique?)

Just leaving a POSITIVE comment to help express my gratitude for this channel. A few years ago, I found Dr Peterson and my life is better for it. Thank you.
I think the main thing many young people refer to when it comes to being worse off than their parents is the fact that house prices are now at least 12x the price of a years wages, whereas back in their parents time they were around 3 or 4x the price of a years wages. They also complain of the difficulty in finding a job in their profession and perhaps what is worse, it now takes 2 full time incomes instead of 1 to raise a family. I'm not sure if either of them have looked very deeply into exactly what it is that young people complain about.
@@landmimes It does look this way sadly since he didn't give the slightest hint of that yet as far as I know. Still, I hope he wants it again some day.

Great interview and discussion! Sparked some of my own thoughts. For optimism, the poverty reduction in the world is fantastic, but I worry about those gains reversing. Household earning power has been declining in the US for my entire life. Even worse, the traditional paths to meaning like family and profession have been gutted. Yes, life was undeniably worse in the past, but I'm anxious we're on our way back there.
The question is why are we declining? I think it is because all the most salient problems have been solved. Clean water, abundant food, plentiful shelter, cheap energy, etc. Now we are focusing more on relatively less important issues and trying to make things even better by enacting new policies. Could it be that some of those new ideas are having the unintended consequence of reversing the success we have had in the past? The result of that will be a return of the problems we have had in the past. We should be very critical of the idea's and policies adopted in the west over the last 50 years or so. Reanalyze them for their real effects to make sure that they are not causing the decline we are now starting to see. Why 50 years? Because there is a lot of inertia in culture and economy, it takes time for the real net effects of policies to show up. The more subtle the effect the longer it takes to appear.
USA the land of milk and honey will clearly decline as the rest of the world improves. Things are balancing economically. What the very long run holds is unknown but probably positive
Once we get past the next economic collapse, (and we will get past it) we’ll be rid of central banks and massive government. Progress will resume at an astonishing rate. Hang tough.
@JackTGreat " Household earning power has been declining in the US for my entire life. " The 1970's era known as stagflation gave snake oil salesmen the excuse to say that Keynesian economics doesn't work , so they ushered in Neo Liberalism ( most famously Reagan brought in Globalization , Privatization and the great fraud of Trickle Down Economics ) but there have been many other schemes. Actually , over the past 1 1/2 years housing , goods and vehicles have skyrocketed in price , yet the US Fed continued to print money to buy bond's issued by the Biden Administration ( Janet Yellen ) . But now that the Cost of Labor Index is starting to rise , suddenly Jerome Powell is increasing the US Fed rate to suppress incomes . Suggest reading " Three Good Rules for Pundit Behaviour " by Miles Corak , in which he explains median income is the number to look at not average . He also discusses income shares and intergenerational economic mobility. Also suggest reading up on Michael Hudson, Thomas Pikitty and Ha Joon Chang .

As a news camera person ( for nearly 30 years ), I can confirm that there is indeed more good news than bad. In fact, most news personnel/some social media organizations rely on instant visuals for bad news stories more often than a fully completed story with interviews using multiple viewpoints ( most folks forget that bad news has been around since the creation of the New Testament with " doom prophecies " for followers if they didn't participate in proper religious thought/practice ). Great interview here!
@@luchiayoung So is the Torah ( amazingly, most Christians don't even know THAT term ). So, yeah, religion can be a useful tool. But, as long as there are corrupt people ( yes, even in the Bible, there are bad/corrupt people in power ), doom prophecies will continue.

Congratulations!
Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I have 1 word that you should remember as she grows;
HOMESCHOOL
This from a woman that recently celebrated the graduation of her only child from a US university after he attended public schools.
W. Emerson)
Our two older children both attend a private school and while many children (at public and private schools) were unfortunately challenged by the pandemic, our older daughter enjoyed mommy's and daddy's extra tutoring hours and is going to skip a grade.
It seems that even education during the pandemic is subject to the 'Matthew effect' ("For to every one who has will more be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away." (Matthew 25:29,).
Save up for her further education at Hillsdale. Any other institution is foolhardy. Best of luck for her future. A greatful nation thanks you.
YES. Nailed it. Hope.
I may not always agree with him, but I admire him for floating his useful ideas out there, exposed, and engages in civil debate. Most academics prefer their cozy ivory towers, impervious, and assume us lower beings would never understand.

I love him & I'm saying this because I see how much more he will be once that excessive ego gets even more burned off than it already is
This is very well written description of what JBP serves for the audience who values his thoughts, observation and understanding.
100 % agreement from me.

@@christopherhorn8539 socialism can't escape corruption, capitalism can
@@jesuschristsupersta1 Could someone give a brief explanation please, would be handy in future discourse. Thanks.

This was the first time I heard that argument too.
From what I understand, that soy feeds the world's livestock. Is that true?
@@chuckyspell Yep. For profit. Still, the grain and beef Europeans eat are from other Brazilian regions. And they use deforestation as an argument to sustains protective policies
Soy is used mostly to feed livestock only on a weight basis. But almost every bean is also used to feed humans the soybean oil they love to have in their potato chips and granola bars. It’s a seed oil crop first. We grow it instead of other seed oils because it has lots of livestock protein to offer in addition to the oil.

If you enjoyed that book, I believe you might enjoy "Humankind: A Hopeful History" by Rutger Bregman
You can thank the USA for that. Damn them
It's an often omitted point when people say Socialism/Marxism does not work....It does not work FOR EVERYONE.
@@peterciurea7771 and how is that any different from the current so called democracy in USA? It is not.

Quite possibly the best 2 hours of news ever. This podcast should be played in schools. The world is not ending, we are not destroying the planet, life is so much better than we are being told.
And that is why this podcast will never be played in schools.

Hence why ppl become anti capitalist, because charging money for education is immoral.

Young people don't want to know about history because it would make them think too much about how short life is. They want to think it is forever.
People in general do not look at something like UN statistics for the past several decades concerning types of diseases, etc. And if they do look at something they generally take the first source as 100% fact of how things went which is an even bigger lul.

The 1970's era known as stagflation gave snake oil salesmen the excuse to say that Keynesian economics doesn't work , so they ushered in Neo Liberalism ( most famously Reagan brought in Globalization , Privatization and the great fraud of Trickle Down Economics ) but there have been many other schemes.
Also suggest reading up on Michael Hudson, Thomas Pikitty and Ha Joon Chang

*_I will add, that the man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them; inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors._*
~ Thomas Jefferson
*_Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle. The real extent of this state of misinformation is known only to those who are in situations to confront facts within their knowledge with the lies of the day. I really look with commiseration over the great body of my fellow citizens, who, reading newspapers, live and die in the belief that they have known something of what has been passing in the world._*
~ Thomas Jefferson (Letter to John Norvell, June 14, 1807)
*_...were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate for a moment to prefer the latter._*

*_For it is a truth, which the experience of ages has attested, that the people are always most in danger when the means of injuring their rights are in the possession of those of whom they entertain the least suspicion._*
~ Alexander Hamilton, Federalist No. 25, December 21, 1787
*_Human nature itself is evermore an advocate for liberty. There is also in human nature a resentment of injury, and indignation against wrong, A love of truth and a veneration of virtue. These amiable passions, are the "latent spark"... If the people are capable of understanding, seeing and feeling the differences between true and false, right and wrong, virtue and vice, to what better principle can the friends of mankind apply than to the sense of this difference?_*

But if we don't practice these tough habits of thought, we cannot hope to solve the truly serious problems that face us ~ and we risk becoming a nation of suckers, up for grabs by the next charlatan who comes along._*
~ Carl Sagan
*_One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It is simply too painful to acknowledge ~ even to ourselves ~ that we've been so credulous. (So the old bamboozles tend to persist as the new bamboozles rise.)_*

*_Young people love what is interesting and odd, no matter how true or false it is. More mature minds love what is interesting and odd about truth. Fully mature intellects, finally, love truth, even when it appears plain and simple, boring to the ordinary person; for they have noticed that truth tends to reveal its highest wisdom in the guise of simplicity._*

~ H.L. Mencken
*_It is [a politician's] business to get and hold his job at all costs. If he can hold it by lying, he will hold it by lying; if lying peters out, he will try to hold it by embracing new truths. His ear is ever close to the ground._*
~ H.L. Mencken
*_The argument that capital punishment degrades the state is moonshine, for if that were true then it would degrade the state to send men to war. The state, in truth, is degraded in its very nature: a few butcheries cannot do it any further damage._*
~ H.L. Mencken

Read the Bible again! The New Testament is about hope not doom.
@@luchiayoung So is the Torah ( amazingly, most Christians don't even know THAT term ). BUT, as long as there have been folks CORRUPTED by the misuse of power, then there will ALWAYS be someone saying " You'll shall perish for not following MY rules. " For the record, I was taught the whole Bible, the Hindu Bible, the Dead Sea Scroll manuscripts, the Quran, the Tao Te Ching, the Indian Proverbs, and the Five Rings of the Samurai by Dr. Frank Tobin, who was an under study of Joseph Campbell. So, yeah, religion can be a useful tool. But, as long as there are corrupt people ( yes, even in the Bible, there are bad/corrupt people in power ), doom prophecies will continue.

@@TheHigherVoltage Hypocrite. You blindly accept 100% of the "history" we're told just like you shame those who accept a "book of their God" to be relevant.

Men have to look beyond themselves for their morals. When they don't and grow arrogant and greedy they do the things you originally described.

I grew up in Belfast in the 70s and spent 24 yrs in Army. I can honestly say most of the people in the west are so lucky, they have peace and security.
None of us/them realize it. Whatever the baseline is, that becomes invisible. One must lose much or go through many hardships to even begin to see the blinders have been on, and that selfishness is the only language. (I have been paralyzed from the neck down, spent 5 years in prison, been homeless in the winter time, just south of Canada. Thus, have my blinders been shrugged off for good.) 🙇🏼♂️🙏🏼💯

Thank you both for a wonderful podcast full of optimism and a pure joy to listen to . It made my day so much better and the future for my 4 grandchildren seems brighter than I thought possible.
This is one of the most informative and essential videos I've watched to date. Excellent. Will definitely be buying a copy of this book and sharing this with my friends. Thanks Jordan and Marian.
Suggest avoiding Koch propaganda like the plague.
Rather suggest reading what Miles Corak , Thomas Pikitty and Ha-Joon Chang have to say.
" Three Good Rules for Pundit Behaviour " is on line - its a great read .
I loved listening to all of this, especially feeling empowered to combat the negative narrative pushed at me, with good data and facts! Grateful beyond belief to you Jordan for helping put language on what is really going on in the world. It is extremely helpful!!
@Paul Freeman What do u mean? she said nothing that implies that she does not do research. In fact being on this video is already part of research.
@Paul Freeman oh ok....that is unfortunate. when u mean that with "do your research!" I have to agree. I also didn't. Thanks for clearing up.
Ur the main reason I've changed the Trajectory of my life. Words can't explain. But I'm in your debt.
Here is my motto on negativity, "don't take everything said to you personally because its all personal to the other person." This helps me to determine if my critics are valid or not.😊
This is incredible, thank you both sincerely. Jordan Peterson son whom has stated he has no interest in social media apart from TH-cam and he also said he's started listening to your video's, I was absolutely delighted to hear this from him!
