  • Phase one of setting up a small recording space using a Tascam 388 and a Tascam US 2000. During the video, the Mac computer I use updated to High Sierra OS and I need to find another interface to use with the Tascam 388 - any suggestions?

Your music sounds great and you've solidified my decision to save up for a 388

I have treated my garage in a similar way. i have foam in select spaces to kill reflections.
I like that dry, fleetwood mac sound for drums .

I know I was so pissed, I had gotten so used to having that button configuration at my side and now I have to figure something else out and there is no way to undo the update!

PRESONUS AUDIOBOX 1818VSL, all around warrior if you downgrade the drivers, you have 8 ins and 8 outs, you can also later add another 8 channels with a Behringer ADA8000.

Try the Tascam US 16-08, its basically what you've already got, but new and updated. I'm not sure if it'll force you to update to high sierra, but its worth a look. Works great with windows :/

It's difficult to recommend something without knowing more about your setup. Your old US 2000 has mic preamps, but I'm guessing you use the preamps on the 388's mixer, record to tape, and then fly the tracks into the computer. If that's true, you don't need an interface with preamps, just line inputs. Also, does it have to be USB2? Does your computer have USB3, Firewire or Thunderbolt?

I'm looking for an audio interface without preamps and just line ins to do the same thing, struggling to find anything though. any recommendations?

I just have a Tascam Dp-008 digital 8-track, i havent used it much though. My next step is to buy a simple 4 track though, analog tape for the win!

I use the Antelope Audio Orion Studio. Not that cheap, but used kind of affordable. The sonic difference is worth it though. First time I don't "hear" the converters. Before I had Focusrite and SSL. The Orion is much better. I use the 388 too.

Do you do any mixing for bands? I’m having a hard time mixing and loathe plugins. The effects that i’ve used have been by way of reamping with analog equipment/guitar pedals.

Hopefully not this century. This century has really forgettable music.

@@Vampiracho but then it would be great if its from this century, right? also, its not true. music influences a lot while growing up. every generation will never forget the music they grew up in. this is just a weird salty view on the world, try being optimistic and open. I try to look for bands and artists that make unforgetable music and every once in a while I get touched to the bones like I am 16. Its a decision. A salty comment is easier though.
