Only Babymetal can make me like songs like Believing, Metalism, and The Legend equally. With Su's voice, i think they could literally write anything and she'd make it sound amazing.
Great reaction ... but "Is that a harmonica or something?" nearly killed me 🤣🤣😁... that was a saxophone solo of course,🎷 didn't you expect a sax solo? Don't worry, neither did anybody else. 'METALIZM' is bonkers - great track, I love it and I need to see it live (I hope they play it at Wembley on the 15th). The Legend' is a great final track for the album. Also where have you been - they have been their own genre ever since they started.🤘🦊🤘
Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 Both songs are enjoyable in their own way, one with that crazy guitar solo and the middle eastern vibes along with the trance, and the other one with the beautiful sax finishing this album but opening a new world in this metalverse they created. Thanks for coming back and see you next time. Remember to always put your kitsune up!🦊🤘🎸
Just a great album. I cannot wait to see the live performances. First of all I’m excited to see Babymetal back to being 3 members as they officially made Momoko a member.. so happy for her. And they also apparently have a subunit comprised of Amuse trainees that come out and sing the older songs (that have the more youthful sound) and the regular members perform their newer stuff (that is more mature ). Someone who went to their concert recently said that in the song Karate , Su sang some parts and the trainee from the subunit sang some parts as well. I’m just excited to see how all of that will look like. Some Babymetal fans were worried about the future but it has been confirmed that Babymetal plans to stick around. The band has matured and Amuse seems to be evolving the sound as the members get older. Plus with their subunit they can have that youthful energy on stage to pull off the older songs to keep that spirit alive. Also they said they will release another new album sometime in the near future. For this album many of those songs were already written and have been on the shelf for the last five years …so I’m excited to see what direction they go in their future album.
Nice reaction. Folks have asked why does it work since they started. The answer is simple... start with Su and then add in the incredible composing and arranging around her. Then add in Moa and now Momoko. and it becomes clear. Talent and skills put together with a lot of hard work. Which is why artist like Rob Zombie and others came to respect them. They worked really hard to get where they are. Babymetal earned their stripes. And now Su can sing about whatever she wants. Especially now since she's starting to write the lyrics for their songs. I hope we get more of Su and Moa writings. Those songs have an extra quality to them.
Thanks for this reaction. What is so interesting about Babymetal is that they have always created their own style of (metal) music which means they are creating this unpaved path that is talked about in Road of Resistance. And pushing those boundaries further and further. And what is maybe the most admirable: they aren't just walking the path, they are running. Combining pop and metal was not done, so their is so much to still explore.
Babymetal has always been it's own Genre, Babymetal is the genre and from the way I understand it this album is saying goodbye to the old Babymetal and an introduction to the new Babymetal with Momo Metal that's why Momo isn't singing on this album, but will be on the next album
Nice one and thanks for the full album reaction / review. THE OTHER ONE is a very special album. And at this point with the incorporation of MOMOMETAL they are complete again and ready to face the future. And I'm ready to see them live for the first time just in a few weeks. I'm very happy with the album as a whole, for Momoko, for BABYMETAL and for me. 😁 Until next time! 🤘🦊
Su smashed Bollywood metal with Shanti shanti shanti, had Sabaton dancing to her euro polka beat with Oh Majinai, and now she's got Arabian/Egyptian metal with Metalizm... this is my fave so far from the new album... 🤘🦊🤘
This band, our Babymetal, really is the genius concept of Koba matched with the incomparable singing talents of Su, and Moa, and now Momoka. Those three bring so much personality and charisma that can't be matched. Musically, every song (with only one or two odd exceptions) has hit with me as being a brilliant composition. But that would mean nothing without the three now-young-women that we've all come to know and love 🙂. You talk about being proud of the girls; that's so true! We've all sort of adopted them as our own, as family, so we feel that pride that only family members do for a beloved sister, etc.
Babymetal did create their own sub-genre called Kawaii Metal "The band defines its style as a new genre called "kawaii metal" ("kawaii" meaning "cute") and clarifies that it is "a mix of J-pop idol and heavy metal". The group has also been described as alternative metal, death metal, power metal, nu metal and speed metal." But I think your right, seeing that they are the creators and really the only true practitioners of the style (I know there are others but they're not that successful it) I believe that the genre should be named for them like Babymetalizm or maybe Babymetalcore. 🤘🦊🤘
Good Reaction! It may sell a little less because it's a concept album, which is unfamiliar to today's youth, but I think the girls have taken it to a new, calmer, artistic level. I love this album.
Hey boss. Just wanted to let you know that I look forward to your BM reactions specifically because I can tell you're actually passionate about the music, thanks brother. Lastly, you're not done with this album yet, I'm not sure if you've reacted to Believing yet, but that is the track right before Metalizm. I think you'll really like it. Moa sings a lot more on the track, doing the entire verses and Su belts the choruses. Their harmonization on the bridge is my favorite point of the whole album. Just giving you a heads up. Have a good one!
BABYMETAL has always been thier own genre. From the very start. And while the "official" name of it has been Kawaii Metal, even Su has referred to babymetal (synonymous to BABYMETAL) as it's own genre. Its a genre they both created and represent. For me, there are no limits to the types of sounds that could be represented under this genre lol! Metalizm is strange...in wonderful ways. I feel it could have easily fit in on Metal Galaxy, maybe as a representative of Arabic (Arabian?Arab? apologies)culture? But at the same time, it fits in on this album just as great. If you listen to the heavy edm alone it transitions amazingly well from the previous track and on to the next track! I think this song once again highlights the superb skill of Su as a vocalist to be able to adapt her singing style, intonation, and dynamics to literally any style of music! With that, this song really is about the guitars lol. The solos. The solos are amazing, but kinda strangely not more forward in the mix. I mean, they balance well with the whole song, but you'd think they would be more forward. Idk....still a fun and awesome song! It's timeless and spaceless, beyond the stars! Time and time again. We are The Legend! Ahhhh....The Legend. For me, this song is kinda special. It's not my favorite from the album, but it calls to mind the feelings I get from The One. Like, this is the continuation and resolution of The One. Not so much on a literal level, like the sound and style are different from The One. But on a more figurative level....I feel like they are expanding on The One. They are saying we are still The One (all of us together), and we have become The Legend. Contextually, it's probably something completely different from that, but personally that's the feel i get from this song. So, much like how The One is not my favorite from Metal Resistance but still is a very special song for me, this song just continues that. And that random, but so well placed and executed, saxophone just....yes! Lol! I had my doubts with this album at first (with how similarly structured the first few singles were) that BABYMETAL had forgone their diversity, which is one of the things I most love about them. I loved all the songs up to that point individually, but was still...wary I guess? that, as a whole, the album would fall short of their previous in terms of that diversity. Then Light and Darkness dropped and laid that wariness in a very deep hole and buried it alive lol! I should've known! I really should've known better! I'm embarrassingly disappointed in myself as the HUGE fan I am! Even with the overwhelming consistency this album has over the previous, it's still BABYMETAL at their finest, and like you said, this album is God Teir (once again!)! And I really have to give credit to Koba and the writing team! It just goes to show that they truly know and understand Su, Moa, and now Momoko. Their vocal capabilities, thier stage professionalism and strengths, and that they are not little girls anymore. And of course, credit to the ladies themselves for the obvious hard work they put into pulling all of it off exceptionally! I can't wait to see all of this new album live, and even more so, live with Momometal vocals! Congratulations once again to her becoming a well deserving official member!!!! Yay! It's sad that we've reached the end so soon, but I look forward to reactions to the lives, and maybe even the new MV for Mirror Mirror? Once again, great stuff from you and please keep them coming lol! Kitsune dao! \m/
When are we calling Babymetal their own genre you ask? Well, we do since 2010 xd 😂 Thanks for your album review and I am glad you liked it. I think Koba was trolling everyone by releasing the more tame songs first and then let the really heavy stuff hit us in the face when the album came out. Metalizm is in my top three songs of the album together with Monochrome and Mirror Mirror but seriously, all songs are great. Koba also stated in a recent interview that he doesn’t consider this album the 4th Babymetal album and that they are already working on a new album that will be number 4 for real. Can’t wait to see (hopefully all!) and hear the songs from this album played live in May! 🤘🔥🦊
Attempting to define BABYMETAL‘s music reminds me of Monty Python. I think it was Terry Jones who said that they always tried to take their jokes in unpredictable directions, and the fact that that lead to the creation of the word „pythonesque“ to describe their humor shows the extent to which they failed. It‘s similar with BABYMETAL. There‘s so much variety in their music that the variety itself becomes a distinct characteristic to recognize them by. They are their own genre.
Metalizm reminds me a lot of some of Canadian folk singer/songwriter Loreena McKennitt's exploration of Arabic and Celtic music blending. But with Babymetal's Heavy Metal mashed in. Metalizumu zumu zumu! I absolutely adore the middle section of The Legend with Su- singing that very Smooth Jazz melody. Add another genre mashup to the Babymetal list: Smooth Jazz, complete with a sax solo.
I believe way back in the day that they said themselves that Babymetal was a new genre . It's on one of the cryptic miserys guides I believe. But let's be honest, they'd make country and western sound happy and positive. 😂 I believe a new album is on its way with Momometal 100% on board now, and dare I hope, some new black Babymetal. 🦊🦊💥🦊🦊
I've seen some fans thought this album is mediocre crap tho, and some other fans it's the best album yet, but generally most fans think it's a good BM album. So incredible how the fanbase split
With the single songs released I wasnkt quite sure what to think of it, though I realy liked Su’s vocals. But from receiving the pre-ordered CD and listening to the entire CD it al came together for me it has a great eb and flow and a great soundstage. I do like this album a lot!
The funny thing is back in the day the Metal Elitist used to hate on them for not being real metal, but now lately people are saying they are too hard and not cute anymore so they are longer Babymetal so they are done with them, God we have come full circle to the Kawaii Elitist hate on them now.🤣 🤘🦊🤘
