Hi Mate , I have this exact server and was running Truenas , Recently I wanted to upgrade a bit so I added a HBA card , 2x PCIe M.2 SSD and a GTX 1660 super ( for plex transcode ) . Now the server fan is at constant 33 - 50 % and its quite noisy in the house . If I remove the PCIe devies , the fans are back to 13% and very quiet . Is there any way to get the fans go quieter ?. Cheers . Emmany
only the hp support part number pcie video card will be able to quite down the system fan. none hp support hdd fw and pcie device will make the fan blown in full speed somehow
thanks a lot! from your video it was not clear to me if I will need an additional P420i controller at the end, OR the existing one can cover both enclosures.
Just acquired a ml350p gen8 and I am looking to add more than 8 SAS drives. This is the first video I cam across. Did you figure out an answer to this question?
@@matthewroth4012 you will need another controller, with the additional 8 to 10 pin power cable, battery, drive cage, disk trays and SSD disks. If interested I can share the part numbers. I bought the p420 but the battery may be problematic so I m now waiting for a replacement
@@tonymerrett hi, you will need the drive cage (659484-B21), power cable (661361-001 or 667266-001), the raid controller (631670-B21 /633538-001) with the battery, and sata cables (and disks!) and drive trays (0.044.992 DRIVE TRAY) , I am 99% sure about the part numbers. I did not test it yet as the first refurbished raid controller i received was problematic and wait for replacement.
Hello Boon, Thank you for the brief and detailed information.
Would be nice to have this information in the description especially the part number
Part Thanks for the video
