- Ceasefire Oregon field organizer Michael DeLong is asked if he's familiar with the ATF form 4473, the background check form that private firearm buyers would be forced to fill out if DeLong and his organization get their way with "universal background checks". Mr. DeLong says no and tries to deflect the question by referring me to Penny Okamoto, director of Ceasefire. I attempt to educate him on the offensive portions of the form, namely in regards to race, gender, and other personal questions. Mr. DeLong closes his mind, refuses to engage in dialog, and says he is "not interested in your misrepresentations and falsehoods", and immediately flees the room.

Pretty much the mentality of most anti-gunners that I know of. They think they know guns pretty well, they act like they know the guns well. However, when they are questioned on their beliefs, it turns out they are actually so out of touch with reality that they qualify as delusional.

I'm extremely pro gun and believe in private owner ship of fully automatic guns (without needing a class 3) but also think that a federal background check should be mandatory. The reason why full auto should he legal is becauase it gives you no tactical advantage unless you are trained to use it and compensate when using it of needed. Full auto is really onky good for keeping heads down especially with a high recoil shoulder fire weapon like an AK47

What questions on the 4473 do you find to be racist/offensive? Just for reference so I don't get bombarded; I am a card carrying member of the NRA and have filled out MANY 4473's myself.
LOL. I was arguing it from an SJW perspective. First of all, it only gives you TWO gender choices. Tumblr says there are over 2000 recognized genders. Secondly, what if the person filling it out self identifies as a different race other than the choices listed? Thirdly, they ask about the person's citizenship status. That's highly offensive to "undocumented guests".

I live in Alabama, and I have never bought a firearm without having to fill out a background check. I am also of Latino descent, and I don't find the questions offensive. I do think the Gender section is useless these days as a transgender that identifies as a woman might be considered in contempt by answering "Female" instead of "Male". That is something that can be changed in legislation. Overall I don't see the issue with the background check.
