  • Here is what you'll need!
    Ingredients:
    2 lbs of chicken breast
    salt and pepper
    1 tsp of chili powder
    1/2 tsp of ground turmeric
6 tbsp of butter, divided into 2 tbsp chunks
1 1/2 cups of yellow onion, diced
    3 tsp of garam masala
    1 tsp of chili powder
    1 tsp of cumin
    1 tsp of cayenne pepper
    1 Tbsp. of grated ginger
    3 garlic cloves, minced
    3” stick of cinnamon
    14 oz of tomato sauce
    1 cup of water
    1 cup of heavy cream
    chopped cilantro for garnish
    rice
    Directions:
Marinate chicken breast in chili powder, turmeric, salt and pepper. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
Brown chicken in 2 Tbsp. of butter, remove and set aside.
Melt another 2 Tbsp. of butter over medium heat, add onions, garlic, garam masala, grated ginger, chili powder, ground cumin, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Cook until fragrant.
Add the tomato sauce and bring to a simmer. Add the water and cream, bring back to a simmer. Return the chicken and simmer covered for another 10 -15 minutes.
Stir in the last 2 tbsp of butter and additional salt and pepper to taste.
Serve garnished with cilantro on top of rice. Enjoy!

Tip: If you have the time and patience... DO NOT FRY THE CHICKEN!! Let it sit and marinate whilst you make the sauce. Reduce it to a simmer, and add the chicken in raw. Then let it simmer for an hour or so until it's fully cooked. Trust me, the chicken will be so much more succulent that way and takes in all the flavour. Shallow frying beforehand does not take in the flavour of the butter sauce!

    • @Ps3KingOfCod
      @Ps3KingOfCod 8 ปีที่แล้ว +27

However, this recipe is not that bad; I think adding just a few more things, like yogurt, and chicken broth instead of water, will make it quite yummy! Otherwise, it's just waay more feasible to eat this in restaurants! ;D

This is my go to recipe, but 2 tips that I found make it even better, you HAVE to let it sit over night, and add a tablespoon or two of greek yogurt to the chicken while it marinates, along with a pinch of sugar. Also I purée the onion, ginger, and garlic into a paste. For me, it tastes like butter chicken I’ve had at restaurants in my area.

Nonononononnono. Going through the steps to make the more authentic version of this recipe is so worth it! You marinade chicken thighs, not breasts, in a spiced yogurt mix, and broil them! The chicken will be SO tender, and it'll taste like spiced deliciousness, not just meat-flavored. As for the sauce, you start by actually cooking the spices, to bring out all those flavors and aromas before adding onion, tomato paste/puree, and cream/butter. By no means should you be adding water to your sauce! It should be rich and creamy, not runny!

coming from an Indian, you can use whatever part of the chicken you want. you brown your vegetables, garlic, onion, (or whatever you're using), then you temper the spices and then add it to your ghee and mix. add in your tomato puree, lastly, add in your milk/cream and then your chicken and cook.

It goes absolutely perfect with rice.

  • @Famoomoo

I'm South Asian and I make this dish all the time. Marinate the chicken with lemon and yogurt (taste to see if it's tangy enough for you, the tomatoes will make it a little tangier later), and all those spices together for at least an hour. Use fresh tomatoes pureed instead of tomato sauce (add in more water if you want it saucier). Let the chicken cook more than halfway before adding the heavy cream. I would recommend using half of the heavy cream needed and use regular milk to make up the other half of the amount. Add melted butter (that was melted on a frying pan) at the very end when you're done!

    2 Tips:
-Instead of heavy cream use a combination of Coconut cream
and cashew paste (ground cashew with water till it becomes a paste in the blender) for the sweetness - it also will also make it super creamy and just yummy af.
    - dont fry the chicken let it soak in the marinade at least for 30 mins so that it will soak those flavours up.
    Enjoy! 😀

okay. i was fucking around with recipes the other day trying to make butter chicken. so I just kind of did my own thing and i will tell you... IT WAS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER TASTED. up until the tomato part is about right. but ditch the cinnamon and instead of adding water, add 2.5 cups of heavy cream instead and let simmer for 25 minutes with a lid on the get the most out of the flavor. You will end up with the most rich, decadent, thick, creamy and buttery butter chicken ever. must try. probably not original indian cuisine but man is it good.

  • @Melody-sn3bw
    @Melody-sn3bw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    PRO TIPS:
Marinate the chicken in yogurt for that extra tenderness.
    Grill the marinated chicken.
Cashew powder is an excellent substitute for heavy cream.
Throw in a couple of crushed green cardamom pods when frying the spices.
If you’re not short on time, smoking the chicken is something I’d recommend.
Heat a piece of coal over flame until it’s glowing red hot.
Meanwhile, keep aside some oil/ghee and fashion a pocket/container using aluminium foil.
Place the piece of coal in the aluminium foil pocket and put it in the butter chicken (it should float on the surface).
Pour some of the oil you had set aside earlier onto the piece of coal and as soon as you see smoke wafting off, cover the vessel (Take care not to pour in too much oil, as that will just cool down the coal and it won’t give off enough smoke).
After 20-30 min, remove the lid and enjoy!

Butter chicken is a rough translation of Murg Makhani (murg- chicken makhani- buttery texture)
Makhani doesn't only mean butter but also the velvety smooth texture of the curry. The original recipe calls for straining the curry and then adding chicken into it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am a vegetarian who lives in a family of non-vegetarians. I want to make chicken and fish for my family, but hate the feel of chicken in my hands. I never buy them with bones and can't stand it for too long. But i know it is a great source of protein. I try not to let my mental block get in the way of my family's healthy eating. Hence easy quick dishes like these make it so much easier for people like me. Please disregard all the negative comments from people and believe me, there is a big community of us who love such recipes. So please keep them coming:)

    EASY BUTTER CHICKEN
    Melt 4 tablespoon butter
Add 1 piece flat chicken (Pound it between two laying plastic with your own fist)
    Add in 1 onion & garlic (minced/ blended/pestle mortar)
    Add in 1/2 tablespoon salt
Cook it like for 2 to 5 minutes each side.
    Done!
PS: For more buttery and saucy dishes, just drizzle this dish with a mix of oil and more melted butter.
Eat this with freshly baked homemade donut dough.
