I used to believe the bs about cats only needing meat. Thankfully, you, Dr Rea and my own vet set me straight. Besides, my one cat enjoys a small side salad several times a day. He goes absolutely crazy when I bring out the lettuce. This time of the year, he's really enjoying the fresh spring greens. 🥗🙀
Another great one, sir. You and Dr. Rea continue to REVOLUTIONIZE the world of pet owner's pet food knowledge base. We now see how long we have been duped by the "designer/boutique" dog food brands. Keep 'em coming.
I've been feeding my 2 cats the Zero Mature formula for 4+ years. I didn't realize this was a Canadian co though! I thought it was local as their corporate office is in Stacy, MN, about 30 mins from where I live. It is a bit expensive, but they dont really eat very much in one sitting. I free-feed and just check the bowls every 24 hrs. My cats are in great health and weight!! I was just looking at their dog food lines this morning and looking for reviews and found your video! 🙂. Is the higher calcium a risk then for future health issues for dogs?
Thanks for the info. I believe the ME of the Young Again is higher than the 4000 Kcal/Kg from Small Animal Clinical Nutrition. From what I understand this makes Young Again more nutrient dense and therefore ideal nutritional percentages may need to be adjusted.
@@louisbarros9757 excellent point! That’s the disadvantage of dry matter basis and why grams and milligrams per 109 kcal measurements are what nutritionists would use. Unfortunately most food companies today don’t even know what that is!
Good for them for controlling the mineral levels in the cat food; I will give them that. The question remains, will my cat really need all that protein on a biochemical level? A lot of it will be converted to waste anyway. This is where I would have preferred to see feeding trials and digestibility - bioavailability studies because things can look good on paper, but not necessarily work as intended in the real world. I'm also interested in their antioxidant levels.
I love science diet but I am not pleased with there misleading information. On the website they state that the new Science Diet Perfect Weight has Glucosamine and Chondroitin. When the bag arrived, no where does it mention it at all. When I emailed them , they sent me the Nutrients. Still nothing The website is not the same. I can't get an answer as to why. I have received 3 emails back from Science Diet and I still can't get an answer does this food have Glucosamine and or chrondroitin in it. All I get is the same answer. The bag doesn't say all that's in the food. Check the website. Which is wrong. Why does the Website say one thing and the bag says another.
Warren, I hate to say it but the folks in charge of updating the website are one group. The people updating the bag are another group. And the people responsible for updating the data shared on the phone are another group. So sadly they all have different speeds. Not a good answer but I suspect it’s right.
Any recommendation for miniature schnauzer food? I know they are prone to pancreatitis and have a harder time with fat so I’m looking for a good solution.
Thanks Glen for the review. I told you this is absolutely a great cat food. I understand the protein levels but the studies out there are like 50/50 in regard to restricting protein for kidneys. That is what makes this the holy grail of cat food in my opinion. The nutrient levels are excellent so the protein can be fed at a higher level. They sent me an article that should be on their sight regarding dehydration linked to an all dry diet. It is extremely interesting and I can send it to you if you like. They did a study feeding diabetic and CKD cats just their dry and because of the PH control in their food the cats were shown to not be dehydrated and the urine PH was within safe ranges. Cats have gone into remission on this diet. ❤
Do you think you could review Alpha Spirit The Only One? I firmly believe that their dry fish food caused my dog to experience nutritional deficiencies. If you have an email address I can contact you through, I'd be more than happy to send over the nutritional profile I was sent as well as FEDIAF guidelines as it showed that the batch I received was low in certain nutrients.

I let my car free feed Young Again cat food and she gained 5lbs in one year and I got a lecture from the vet. Young Again says most cats can free feed because they just know when to stop eating... Also, my cat developed hypercalcemia and when I contacted them to ask if it could be related to their food, the guy got offended and blamed it on my water supposedly having too much calcium in it. If your animal has any issues with his cat food, he takes it as a personal insult and gets snarky with you. His food is the perfect pet food... And the problem must be with you. Also, he says cats don't need wet food. Cats just magically drink as much as they need according to them. And your cat will start out with severe diarrhea on this food. According to them, you basically have to wait out the diarrhea until your cat adjusts to it. My one cat left a trail of liquid poop all over my house when eating this food. As for the high protein, they base their food composition on mice. They aim for the same protein, fat, etc levels that are found in mice.

Have you done a review on just food for dogs?
What about the fat in food being very high 1:09
Dietary fat is the primary energy source and many foods are way too high for the typical American couch potato.

22:47 - funny. Corey Nutrition Company says Inukshuk 32/32 is for adult maintenance. Yet their 30/25 and 26/16 are All Life Stages
Wonder if the parameters is because Royal Canin's data
Checked. Yeah. They're using RC's data, not SACN.
