China has been speaking with a forked tongue for many years. Look how the CCP has reneged on its promises to Hong Kong. Saying your partner has a forked tongue is only an excuse, when you yourself have one too. Wouldn't it be better to have both sides talking despite their forked tongues? At least they will be talking. Without dialog, mistakes that can lead to conflict becomes more dangerous. Why is the CCP so afraid?

15-12-2020 Biden’s Choice for Pentagon Faces Questions on Ties to Contractors
Now Raytheon could soon have another point of distinction: a member of its board, retired Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III of the Army, has been named by President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. to be the next secretary of defense.
Raytheon is not General Austin’s only link to military contractors. He has also been a partner in an investment firm that has been buying small defense firms. And his move from the weapons business to a leadership role in the Pentagon continues a pattern begun by President Trump in recent years.
Mr. Trump picked James N. Mattis, also a retired four-star general who then served on the board of General Dynamics, another major military contractor, as his first defense secretary. Mark T. Esper, a former Raytheon chief lobbyist, succeeded Mr. Mattis.
This is a departure from the norm. Defense secretaries who served before Mr. Trump’s tenure - at least three decades dating to the tenure of President George Bush - did not come directly from boards or executive suites of contractors, although some, like Ashton Carter, President Barack Obama’s last defense secretary, had served as industry consultants.

Mattis.

I was all set to go to Viet Nam, had my shots and show-up papers, when a friend took me to the WADC protest against the illegal napalm war in Cambodia.
It was napalm hot that July day, but we got within 30-feet of the podium by the Lincoln Memorial, as Billy Graham finished his rousing speech, his fist shoved into the sky.
_"Bmöb the goöks for Jesüs!"_ he shrieked, then jumped into his white limo, as a squadron of Hueys flew low over the protest, dropping little American flags on tiny parachutes. Hundreds.
The protesters howled as ranks of Capitol Police on horseback hemmed them in against the Reflecting Pool. The Hueys circled for another pass, dropping gas cartridges, and in the choking smoke, the cops on horseback beat men, women, even an old couple with wooden clubs.
My friend got separated and called me the next morning. He had been arrested, then was raped all night in the WADC lockup. His parents came down and we said goodbye. He was a ghost, but he saved my life.
I didn't get to SEAsia until 35 years later, on a humanitarian mission. The peasants were so poor! We had a farewell dinner of white rice, pond weeds and minnows the children had caught in a rice paddy ditch. We gave them all our cash.
    The End.
