      looks like he bums it at 5:42, then later at 8:26, you can see it in his right hand between index and middle finger while playing

      I saw the Breckers at the Royal Festival Hall in London in the late seventies supporting Freddie Hubbard. Mike was smoking on stage and in between numbers an announcement came over the pa reminding the audience “and performers” that smoking was prohibited.

    Great memories - I was there! At the 1980 Munich Jazz Fest (in the ‘Swimmenhalle’ built for 1972 Olympics) during a years holiday around Europe in a Kombi Van - lt was fantastic!

    A very nice session, Dizzy played also in a funky style at that time, so it works pretty well.

    What's up with Dizzy's trumpet? Why's the bell out like that?

    • @llopismanzanera
      @llopismanzanera 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it became like this by accident (or agression') when he was young. He liked that way and everafter ordered his trumpets like this.

    Having the already aged Dizzy follow Michael was kind of cruel. But that was an instantaneous decision as it looks.

    • @thebreathalyzer
      @thebreathalyzer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dizzy was a very bad cat, doubt he was worried about following anyone. I heard him live around 1982, great player and a jazz icon. I'm thinking Dizzy went second so he could follow along during Mike's solo. Possibly Mike usually took the first solo...

    • @graxjpg
      @graxjpg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thebreathalyzer surely he didn’t have to be worried about following anybody, he and mike are of a similar level of greatness and dizzy obviously has tons of experience at the highest level by that point. I think dizzy enjoyed juxtaposing his solo against mikes, both together are a fantastic experience.
