Hitaammin hautaan means literally "more slowly to grave". In an interview given to YLE (Broadcaster) Nelli said she was diagnosed with CVI disease a few years back. It is uncurable disease in which her body does not produce antibodies or antidotes so if there is a virus or bacteria she could very easily get sick. After learning about the disease she went on break and wrote her thoughts and emotions down in diary. This song is a piece she wrote in her diary not knowing whether she could be unable to continue her career or not. Right now she is feeling okay, but being aware of her condition and ready to work once again. She is still young and she has released only two albums so she definetely still has something to say to the music infustry. When I heard this song the first time, I wondered how fast the three minutes went. Somehow it is structured so that it just keeps on moving. And what I also noticed was that each time she sings "hitaammin" (more slowly) she sings it more slowly: hiiiitaaaammin. I think there are clever details, but songs must grow. That happened to me with Käärijä, it happened last year with a few songs (not Windows95Man though), so obviously after hearing all the songs, something has stuck, and something that I have initially liked have been lost...
Just a tip: turn on the subtitles for finnish UMK songs, you’ll get the english translation! I prefer this one over yesterday’s song because of the lyrics
She is doing it every time she does not like the song. Last year she was always singing while Henri (win95man) was singing and then said Henri has no vocals. Really? If you listen to him, you might hear he does.
I prefer this song compared to the first one even though I think that both songs are well produced and catchy. I think this song has deeper meaning. However I´m quite sure that the winner is yet to come.
At least on youtube the music video has english subtitles. I am fortunate enough to know finnish and this song and the lyrics hit me right in the feels ❤️
I really love this song. Nelli has such an incredible outlook on life! I've listened to this song so many times, and each time it brings me such a good vibe while also deeply moving me with its message. This is going to be big radiohit in Finland. 🇫🇮♥️
I loved this song straight away. But I gotta say the lyrics we're speaking to me strongly. Nelli is singing about not rushing through life and just slow down and seize the moment. I've been told all my life how irritatingly slow and a daydreamer I am and way too precise with things. My mother keeps still telling that I took my time also at birth. So finally someone made a song about how that's okay and I don't have to stop daydreaming. It's easier to get into this song by knowing lyrics. Not a winner of ESC but a strong song anyway
I think this song has a great meaning on how its important to enjoy the time we have. I really hope the pink explosion in the end gets to the live performance!
I think this song is catchy and exciting if you listen to the lyrics and know the story behind them. Nelly is a good performer with great vocal range. And good looks 😊
I looooove it ❤❤❤❤ but all her songs have great meaning and great lyrics so I am worried it might not translate to the Eurovision stage since most wouldn’t have any idea what it’s about. I’m playing this on loop anyway ❤
Opposite reaction, well I am a Finnish. Yesterday's song I was just bored and did skipping... Remember that meanings of the songs do matter. And this one has better lyrics and is in Finnish. It's a feel good song about how you do not have to compete in life to be happy, at least in my interpretation.
Well I'm finnish and totally agree with her. It's quite telling that when people started talking about the lyrics I had to fight so much with myself to even get through the song that I have no idea what it said even though it's my own language. I really think it's a bit same as with Loreen. People like the performer and force themselves (subconciously) to like the song. Neea's song was very good.
@@Mari-ok6xgActually nope. Because I haven't been listening to Nelli before and thus didn't have such strong bias based on that. Neea's song was very repetitive and in English, it simple lacks lyrical substance compared to this. It's the feel good vibe of this that made me like the song. And if you pay attention to lyrics, you may get the meaning. As a lyrics focused person, those do matter to me. But of course we are all different and some also focus more on sound or power. I tend to prefer this kind of a song where there's even a bit more unique message and wording and which is in some other language than English, as imo that's been heard quite enough of Eurovision stage.
@@Mari-ok6xg Just because you don't like the song doesn't mean that the people who like the song just "like the performer and force themselves to like the song" 🙄People can have different tastes and look for or value different things in music. I agree with @ratyjoona here. For me, today's song has a stronger message and lyrics than yesterday's song did, and I do tend to value that 🤷♀Yesterday's song probably had more interesting things going melody-wise, but that isn't everything (both singers so far sound like great singers in the studio versions, so I'm not comparing them based on that, yet). But we'll have to wait and see what their live performances are like.
In my opinion this song is good and I could listen to this, but I don't think that this is eurovision material, because the melody is pretty basic and I know many songs with similar melody, but I like the message of this song.
I like this, though will depend very much on the live. I will say though that new and exciting doesn’t always win, and been there done that sometimes wins over new and exciting
I like this. I love her voice, love the music video and the clean production. I like the message, but about three quarters of the way in, i found myself zoning out. It just plods along pleasantly. I much preferred Neea's 'Nightmares'.
Yeah I like her voice a lot but the song is just not that interesting sadly. A catchier melody is definitely needed in eurovision. Not bad but just doesnt stand out enough.
@ratyjoona yeah this song does have a nice message but I dont think that's enough. And since it's in Finnish, a lot of people wont get the message of the song anyway.
@@hannak8006 Often UMK eventually releases English lyrics, thus helping w that. Tho I think Eurovision broadcasting companies should always have lyrics translated for national language/-s of their countries like YLE does. Meanwhile TH-cam stream of Eurovision should have the English translations. This move could ensure better balance between the melodical and the lyrical content.
@@sk70091 It may have a hook tho. But maybe harder to notice. Imo that can be a plus, sometimes. And ok, not as "stand-out" in UMK but the context here was Eurovision where we wouldn't rly have anyone else singing in Finnish...
I just say say you destroy the song by putting it on pause every second or two. If you had concentrated on the song instead of pausing it you would have probably enjoyed it. Subtitles for the lyrics should be available. Splendid song.
I too prefer the 1st song (Neea's) to this, but that's not to say this wouldn't be good, as it is (and the visuals are lovely). But probably not the one for Eurovision.
this was ok but just ok. well winner come number 5,time to send heavy metal group in eurovision final :) thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend.
Tbh I think this song is mid melodic wise. The meaning is good but it's really forgettable as a song. It's still good tho. My top atm. 1. Neea River (10/10) 2. Nelli Matula (7.5/10)
This song has no change kinda trash actually nothing special and trying to copy Mirella (Miralla is a young finnish artist with banger song called 'Timanttei') Have to say that I don't usually listen lyrics and the point of the song is the lyrics I think? In Eurovision people don't understand finnish anyway. Melody is very dull and the song is very boring. I think this is way worse than Neea Rivers songs.

Yes, I agree about the deeper meaning! Great you can appreciate it :D
The first song is over-produced and with vocal trickery, this second song feels real. But better is hopefully yet to come.
This one will be a radio hit in Finland.
I'm hoping for Erika Vikman 🙏🤞🤞
