First run of 1953 INDIAN Chief Eighty Motorcycle. Roars To Life After 70 Years Of Silence. Restoration took 6 years and cost $47K. A real beauty. August 27, 2023.
Sorry, but it hurt to watch you start this bike! It's a beauty for sure. I would have taken it off of choke as soon as it started before it fouled a plug and ran on one cylinder. I too have installed a Kiwi electric starter on my 46 Chief along with an Ed Glasgow Horn/Starter button conversion setup. I did mine after fighting cancer for the last 3 years. I'm sure with a little practice you will get the feel for it. Good Luck !th-cam.com/video/tyc7Vv3jstc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vE0hz71QvwUHLYIG
Idle seems to be et at around 450 r.p.m. when at it's lowest setting it should be a little over 700-750 r.p.m. When the idle is too low it puts unnecessary stress on the big ends and crank. Yes I know a low idle sounds cool, but if you love your motorcycle you will do what's best for it.
Turning the key On and Off 20 X is never a good sign when trying to start. It's not a real restoration when a 21st century e-starter is installed. When he finally gets it to start if is only running on one cylinder and neither he nor the cameraman seems to realize it. This is the opposite of "Roars to Life". Nice looker though. But always wear helmet, gloves and boots, then again since he is only going 2 mph ..... What a laugh.
I’m one with a Kiwi starter. Sorry I’ve been fighting cancer for the last 3 years and if an electric starter keeps me in the saddle a little longer so be. I’m at the point of adding a sidecar. Cancer SUCKS
How is this restored. It has an electric start and led headlamp. I get you need to make it easy to start when you get older, but this is just rebuilt, not restored.
This was the hardest video to watch in my 55 years! My God your gonna destroy that beautiful machine. Some body call WHEELS THROUGH TIME A.S.A.P.! JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN AFFORD IT Doesn't ALWAYS MEAN TO BUY IT!!!!!;
This is cringe worthy watching this man not know how to start this motorcycle. The timing is way off and the bike wanted to start on the first hit but this guy messed it up.
What abomination is that?? Looks like someone spent too much money unsuperviced. Electric start?? Leather enough to cover a cow and a half? Congrats, you actually lessened the value.
@@bluzzjazz Yes. you are perhaps right, it was the electric start and headlight that did it for me..Nice paintjob and the leather although excessive i can see it's a firstclass job.
What a beautiful bike. It's too bad you didn't learn anything from the rebuild n upgrade for the starter system. Should have practiced for a couple months before you showed all the neighbors you have more money than you know what to do with.

Yes, go easy on that tickler when you start this bike; you flooded it very badly. Very nice restoration though.
It's a Kiwi lndian replica. You special order them built to your specifications. All brand new. Plus electric start and disc brakes. Great bikes!
This is hard to watch. Couldn’t listen
That's a beauty.
That is a very Nice Bike SIR !!!!
Running on one cylinder makes it an Indian 40.
nice bike, alot of $$$ went into it. but you should learn how to start & ride it before you get squashed or wreck it.
Did ‘Steady Eddie’ crash off camera?
Very forgiving motorcycle
Why did u paint the fuel caps red? They should have been chromed.

Sounds like the timing is off a little
He didn't know to ride it
So it's been silent ( not running) since 1953?
All the gear and yet no idea .
Scarry to watch
It didn't sound very good.
" With Electric Start & Full Leather Package."

When it’s your bike, you can do with it as you wish. While it may not be to everyone’s taste, saying it’s an abomination is overly dramatic.

To much choke on the beginning. Only one cylinder light on and too much smoke.
😂😂😂😂 money don't make u kewl
needs training wheels
1942 was the end of the 440
A modernized Poo-shooter. 😞 there was a time, when indians were respected.
My god what a waste!🤔
sounded like shit
