This week I tackle a DIY project in my 130 year old homestead in hopes of getting it prepared for a very special visitor. Let me know what you think of the changes to the homestead! :) It is feeling like a winter wonderland over here as we get closer to Christmas. love you guys.

As a former resident of Colorado, let me say you have made a beautiful choice in a place to live. However, you must be vigilant for Colorado has lots of mountain lions. Do not let your dog out unattended and carry a sidearm. Stay safe.
I’d say Mountain Lions and bobcats as well! We live in Southern Nevada. 45 minutes outside of Vegas and a Bobcat attacked our Lab right on our property!
Coyote, bear, rattlesnake, ... I let my dog be a dog ! They're not stupid.

I'm next door in Utah and we've got Bobcats, Rattlesnakes and mountain lions here also. I try to be VERY attentive when I'm out on trails or in areas where it's likely to be THEIR habitat. I'm the guest encroaching in their home.
Rio is a dog wouldn't want to see her harmed by anyone let alone mountain lions bobcat or wolves..... Stay safe Alyssa and Rio.

I felt the same. I was hoping it would be her mom when Alyssa mentioned she was expecting a special guest. I teared up a bit when her mom showed up. My mom also passed away in 2020.
Cinematically speaking, this video was a masterpiece. You opened with a Christmas carol montage and ended with It's A Wonderful Life. As for you - you glow.

Dude, talk about tear droppers during this video...I'm not crying you're crying! Truly enjoyed watching this one, glad to see friends are willing to help you out and that Mom came to your home to see her baby, so cool! Mothers are awesome, mine lives with me and I wouldn't have it any other way. Pus it was a promise that I have kept to myself and for my older brother who passed away from lung cancer on 12-'09...he reached out to me in the hospital bed a few hours before on the night of his passing and said to me, promise me you'll take care of Mom no matter what, and I kissed him on his forehead and replied don't you worry my loving brother, I got you-I got her-I got this, just rest easy knowing she'll be in the GR8est hands of all. And, to that end, I am still continuing to fulfill that promise until the end. Now, U-KeepDoinU and GR8 things will always come to both You & Rio.

What a wonderful milestone you have reached in your life and on your journey. My heartfelt congratulations to you, young Lady! After perusing your videos over the last three months, you made me realize just how little I have seen and experienced in the United States during my early years, before I enlisted in the Navy and left to see the world. Your videos have gone a long way to remedy that deficiency. Thank you for that! A very special hug to Rio from me and my four dog 'pack' who are surrounding me, snoozing on the cool tile floor as I type this note. Merry Christmas from Bernie, Becky, Bobby and Lucky!me. Oh boy, do I relate to painting an 1800s house. The previous owners of our house painted without cleaning the walls first. All the dust and muck and such was rolled under the paint leaving a funky texture on every wall. My husband about sanded his fingerprints off fixing the walls before we painted. Prep is everything like you said. Your place is already fantastic! You're doing such a great job.

My granddad used to tell me if you're afraid of making a mistakes you'll never do anything! Besides, with Rio supervising how can you go wrong? Yuk yuk... Always nice to have guests especially mom. The renovations are tedious as hell & sometimes painful but worth it! I’m in my 3rd house. Was only able to afford my 1st when my mother passed away and I used the 10k insurance policy on a down payment. Bought for 50, sold it for 80, bought next house for 40 (no mortgage needed) and sold it for 70, bought current house (fixer upper) for 72 (no mortgage, but cash & very thankful) and took off a week of work to complete a lot of the upgrades. Friends are shocked by the process which is always nice. Houses are a labor of love, something to be proud of and makes having multiple fur family members possible (cat, medium dog and an xl dog won’t fit in the bus I’m buying soon but we’ll travel in it 😊sadly won’t live full time in it but since I now have a foster kid a house in a nice neighborhood is wonderful.) stay safe ✌🏾

I live in California, Sierra Foothills. We have mountain lyons, bears, bobcats, coyotes, foxes, and skunks. We know people around us who have dogs. Dogs are pretty darn smart! Not only will they not go outside, they will let you know when they sense or see something! Dogs are awesome! I have yet to see you let your dog out unattended or out of your sight. Also, with all the travel you've done in a bus in a snow storms your aware of what's out there. I know you and yours will have each others backs. You did a wonderful job making your guest bedroom cozy! Enjoy your beautiful mommy! Happy holidays💕🤗

Just so you know, My Mother is visiting me for the Holidays as well. In fact, I get to drive down to SLC Airport tomorrow to pick her up. I live in Idaho. And, of course, the snow is falling. It's nice to have Mother's around for these special days for us single peeps.

I love that dresser with the mirror it’s something my grandma has always had and I loved with the key holes and everything!!!! Great choice!!!
I thought it might be your Mom. Have a wonderful time. My mom also passed this year and we sorely miss her. But she lived until 93 and had a long full life.

I can't tell if you have ceiling fans or not, but they really help in those older, high ceiling houses, to move the heat back down to the floor. Even on the lowest setting, they make a noticable difference in the overall warmth.

That is the perfect shade of white. Many years ago, where clothing was concerned, it was called winter white. It was supposed to be the only shade of white that you could wear in the fall and winter but those rules thankfully have gone by the wayside.
So glad to see your mom visiting. My mom is in the hospital right now and at 86 has been on a downward slide. I hope this will get that stopped for a few years at least. I'm taking care of her and I've decided to cherish this time with her. So that's my advice to you. Cherish every second that you possibly can with your mom. If you're careful you can paint without taping off. Just use the slanted edge of the brush to paint next to the ceiling and trim.
I loved that your guest was your Mom. Made me 😢 I lost my MOM a month before our town burned to the ground. I love what your doing. We are now in our new home but had a huge setback be both got the Covid and are just now getting on our feet and mabe later this week we can start unpacking. Keep up the good work.

411 get a PAINT EDGER it takes 99% of the work out of trimming No taping Necessary, you'll be so happy
Definitely, bandana it up when slinging paint. I shave my head and still wrap it up. lol I am excited about your journey with the new Casa! I am trying to do a similar journey. If what you did with that spare bedroom is just a "taste" of things to come - the rest of the videos on your home adventure should be great! Always amazes what simple things like paint, declutter, clean and organize can do plus keep things sort of minimal too.
I had a feeling of sorts it was Mom coming as if I recall correctly from some past comments in some past videos - you have not physically seen or communicated w/her a lot in the last few years so this should make for a heck of a very good Christmas time for all! 🙂
