this is so underrated! one of my favorite songs ever and it sounds even better slowed down, especially 5:26 ! i could listen to this on loop until i die
Currently writing a reflection of my time at university, where this song was a pivotal part of my life. Sobbing, smiling and crying as I write it. I love this song, and I love all of you who are here.
Hey, Im starting second year of Uni soon and have recently found this song which is currently keeping me alive during hard times. I guess I will look back at it in future like you did! Spreading love from Europe
I think you found the "original doomer" or "doomed patient zero" lol. This song is so much better slowed, it really puts everything in perspective, you can really get a gist of all the Nuance that was crammed into the original. It has such a big "sound" to begin with, it was challenging to fully appreciate what the artist felt while writing this peice. The classic analogy "can't see the forest for the trees" comes to mind. In this version the feelings of nostalgia and longing are more relatable and ring truer than the original tempo. Its almost as if were listening to a different song all together allowing for a more enhanced perspective and experience for the listener. Anyone who is a fan of this song should most definitely listen to this version.
In the suburbs I I learned to drive And you told me we'd never survive Grab your mother's keys, we're leaving You always seemed so sure That one day we'd be fighting In a suburban war Your part of town against mine I saw you standing on the opposite shore But by the time the first bombs fell We were already bored We were already, already bored Sometimes I can't believe it I'm moving past the feeling Sometimes I can't believe it I'm moving past the feeling again The kids want to be so hard But in my dreams we're still screaming And running through the yard When all of the walls that they built in the 70's finally fall And all of the houses they built in the 70's finally fall Meant nothing at all, Meant nothing at all, It meant nothing Sometimes I can't believe it I'm moving past the feeling Sometimes I can't believe it I'm moving past the feeling into the night So can you understand Why I want a daughter while I'm still young? I want to hold her hand And show her some beauty, Before all this damage is done But if it's too much to ask If it's too much to ask Then send me a son Under the overpass In the parking lot we're still waiting It's already past So move your feet from hot pavement And into the grass 'Cause it's already past It's already, already past Sometimes I can't believe it I'm moving past the feeling Sometimes I can't believe it I'm moving past the feeling again I'm moving past the feeling I'm moving past the feeling In my dreams we're still screaming We're still screaming We're still screaming
You can never go home again
Late to the party but happy to see it’s still storming.

In the suburbs I
I learned to drive
And you told me we'd never survive
Grab your mother's keys, we're leaving
You always seemed so sure
That one day we'd be fighting
In a suburban war
Your part of town against mine
I saw you standing on the opposite shore
But by the time the first bombs fell
We were already bored
We were already, already bored
Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling
Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling again
The kids want to be so hard
But in my dreams we're still screaming
And running through the yard
When all of the walls that they built in the 70's finally fall
And all of the houses they built in the 70's finally fall
Meant nothing at all,
Meant nothing at all,
It meant nothing
Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling
Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling into the night
So can you understand
Why I want a daughter while I'm still young?
I want to hold her hand
And show her some beauty,
Before all this damage is done
But if it's too much to ask
If it's too much to ask
Then send me a son
Under the overpass
In the parking lot we're still waiting
It's already past
So move your feet from hot pavement
And into the grass
'Cause it's already past
It's already, already past
Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling
Sometimes I can't believe it
I'm moving past the feeling again
I'm moving past the feeling
I'm moving past the feeling
In my dreams we're still screaming
We're still screaming
We're still screaming
