    Fabulous!! This was exactly the problem that just popped up this afternoon with my 2008 Nissan Versa, right down to the little broken plastic thingamajig pieces laying on the floor board. It took me longer to drive to the hardware store for the bolt/nut than to fix the problem. THANKS, Random Knowledge Guy!!!

    1000 Thanks saved me a lot of money! Since there was a hole I simply got a bolt and nut with the similar size so I never have to deal with it hopefully metal wont break.
    Total cost: $1.25

    This just happened to my car, 1997 Toyota. I looked at what you showed and went to look for anything in the floor of the car. A little round, black piece of plastic and another little black thing was there. I just went to a store and when we came back, my grandson noticed the light on. I just put the round thing in the place I thought it was supposed to be and the light was off. Now to figure how to make it stay or be sure to keep checking it. Thank you for sharing this !!!!! I had no idea what to do.

    RKG...you are a genius and angel. Same issue on a Lexus. Now why do the manufacturers put a stupid thingamajingy made of plastic and not a metal bolt in the first place?!

  • @Telbont

    Thanks for the video. Had the same issue with my Hyundai Accent with the broken plastic pieces on the floor mat. I just used 2 layers of double sided tape at the place where the plastic was and it solved the problem in less than 5 minutes.

    • @KIMBEAUX
      @KIMBEAUX 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Telbont my plastic piece in my 2005 Hyundai Sonata didn't seem to be broken but maybe worn down. I taped a couple of pennies onto it and the problem was instantly fixed!

    • @Telbont
      @Telbont 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Kim Broadbridge Good you taped the pennies onto it. Initially I put only double sided tape but the switch slowly pushed through the tape and the lights came on again. Then I taped on a coin and it's been working great since then. Just needs a hard surface as a stopper for the switch.

      Just had this happen to my 91 Geo Prizm today. I didn`t know what killed my battery until today. I had it towed to my nearest mechanic, and he told me my brake lights won`t shut off, and that`s what killed the battery.

    Great video - Just had this happen to me and low and behold I have the same plastic pieces on my floor board. Can you say what exact size of screw and bolt you used. That would be helpful because then those of us who have the same problem could go just get the screw and nut at Lowes or Home Depot. I can figure it out but it would be helpful to know. Anyways - great video and thanks for sharing.

    Happened with me too, found the broken pieces of plastic disc on the floor, I found a plastic panel button with the threaded piece on the other side, pushed the brake pedal down with a brick then pushed the plastic disc through the hole on pedal arm and secured with a bolt on the other side. Cost $0 to fix!

    Tonight I went to my local Texaco to get some petrol for my car and a loaf of bread. On the forecourt were two women and a young lad looking under the bonnet of an S registered Kia Pride. They were discussing how to remove the battery to fit a new one they had just bought. So me being a qualified car mechanic, I went over to them and asked if they needed some help, I then ended up showing them how to safely disconnect the battery, remove it, install the new one and connect it up. I also took the liberty of checking the level of the car's piano black engine oil. With the car started, I noticed the battery warning light was lit up on the instrument binnacle and the brake-lights were stuck on, which by this point they told me that they had just bought the car!!!
    They were rather annoyed with themselves when I told them that they would need to get a new alternator, brake light switch and engine oil to get it in a roadworthy condition!

    I'm in trouble with my brake lights. Can someone help me? I have a VW Gol G6 2013 (it's a brazilian model) and since my ECU had a shortcut and been repaired, my brake lights are always on. If I turn on the ignition then brake lights will turn on as well and get stuck. If I remove and then replace the fuse from brake lights switch then the lights turn off and will only turn on if I press the brake pedal as expected. But if I turn the car off and then turn it on again the same problem will get back. I'm wondering if it's an ECU issue or just a stuck relay. My car doesn't have ABS but it's brake system are similar to some VW Jetta, with a 1K0945459A brake lights switch.
