As far as zelda goes I feel that Nintendo is taking a bold step. However, I think that Nintendo is also taking a step in the right direction when it comes to exploration as more open games are becoming more and more mainstream. I hope this turns out well and can't wait to see how it goes.
I'm excited for zelda as well, I just hope it doesn't end up looking too much like the elder scrolls. I enjoy the concept of open world game play, But I don't want to end up feeling lost as to what to do and where to go.
computern22 yeah I agree, I hope they incorporate something similar to the Dark Souls series in that there's almost always some kind of landmark looming in the distance to help guide your exploration and act as an objective. That being said, I also hope they have more dynamic side quests in this game. For instance, what if you were riding epona through a nearby valley when you hear the sound of battle somewhere close to you. As you ride up to investigate you witness a caravan being attacked by a group of enemies. You could let the enemies take the loot for themselves and then track them down later to keep it for yourself or you could save the caravan and open yourself up for a side quest. Maybe that's expecting too much, but it'd definitely be cool in my opinion.
Well stay true to Nintendo and see how they deliver. Honestly i think the wii u is turning into a fans only paradise the reason others hate it is cause its catering to us hardcore fans not the ones just coming into the genre of Nintendo. So expect Zelda and others to be amazing.
That would be awesome. I haven't decided on getting the wii u yet, but if Nintendo incorporates that into the next zelda game, I would definitely get it.
To be honest I think XBOX did pretty good this year too, and I'm a Nintendo guy. Hell, I might even buy a XB1 once the master chief collection comes out.

So, I guess I'll pitch in on this discussion. I liked everyone's press conferences this year. I can't wait for the Master Chief Collection, love that Sony finally announced Uncharted 4, and I think Nintendo had an amazing press conference. Being mainly a PC guy, (I still play last gen consoles a lot too though) it's going to be a tough decision deciding on which next gen console to get. I think I'm going to get an Xbox One first, then get a Wii U and PS4 down the road. There are so many great games I want to play on all of the systems!
I liked E3 this year. (Mostly) The games shown was diverse and less of accessories of the consoles (Though Sony did it) I felt that with both of the companies dissing each other so publicly to me is really childish. I respect Nintendo for their professionalism.
Nintendo: Call over your friends and lets all play together. Xbox & PS: Tell all your friends to buy their own systems, then buy an online sub and lets play together.

Really good showing from the big N this year I'm really impressed. I would go as far to say that the video format is better than the traditional press conference because there are less awkward moments and the developers are in a much more comfortable environment where they don't have to be worried about making mistakes. The only negative gripe I have is that we didn't see any metroid game, but I'm sure that's in the pipeline. Well done Nintendo.
wat i truly love about nintendo is that they create games that ANY age can enjoy. unlike sony and microsoft, they bring games more for a older "experienced" audience and it was always hard to play games on those consoles with friends. my friends and i when we hang out or have sleepovers, we always play nintendo games together and have great fun, more than playing cod or l4d, nintendo will always be a part of my gaming life and always has been since i started gaming :)
I don't really think anyone should think of Nintendo as a competitor, it's really one of a kind, as they keep their policy of keeping games universally playable by all age and adults or kids alike, and also though the graphics were not as impressive as it is, the gameplay and exclusivity is really noticable. I liked how their innovations that are beyond realistic and yet are fun so other than just a normal sequel and same old controller gameplay.
lets be real here. they showed like 10 games. 2-3 were remasters and 1 was a whole new IP and really about 5 games were the only really notable games. those being ZeldaU, Smash Bros 4, Pokemon ruby(remastered), Pokemon sapphire(remastered), and Bayonetta 2. Splatoon looked fun but basically amounts to a children's COD(still looks better then COD though). If you wanna count the Starfox announcement then they showed 11 games and 6 of those are worth while. that's barely anything to contend with. just Sony alone announced just about as many major exclusives not including XbOne. im not the Fanboy type, but the sad reality is Nintendo is Crumbling Under the Pressure of Sony And Microsoft. There is even talk about them planning to ditch the WiiU platform to create a device that can compete with the new hardware from Sony and XbOne. Them Leaving E3 wasn't a matter of them being too good for it. its more likely they left because they either didn't have the cash to put up a show on the E3 Floor or they didn't want the public reaction to kill the vibe of the presentation. I for one hope to god they can pull out of this slump and Revive themselves because it would be a shame for them to end up like Sega did and end up becoming a 3rd Party Developer for Sony and Microsoft.... or worse for one company to end up buying them out regardless of who it is. if it sony there may be a chance that the franchises would stay the same but its about a 50-50 chance. and i Hope to god that Microsoft doesn't get em because frankly im completely afraid of what MS would do to some of my favorite childhood franchises like zelda or mario they tend to make things serious and really action-y which could ruin those franchises completely....the serious part might help starfox or metroid tho. but either way the reality is Nintendo is taking alot of hits and really the only thing thats keeping them alive is Pokemon, Zelda, Mario, Metriod, Smash Bros, and i guess starfox in the future.

Hopefully not with the combat, but I'm all for the more open-world style exploration found within the Elder Scrolls games. I just hope that the zelda game isn't super empty. While vast open worlds can be fun to explore, I find the excitement quickly dies down when you notice much of the game is void of NPC. Additionally I hope Nintendo takes a cue from the souls series, by From Software, by featuring those massive landmarks that dominate the edge of the horizon. Nothing really gets the exploration engines revving more than seeing a dark castle looming on the edge of a far off mountain ridge beckoning you to explore it and anything you may come across on your way to it. Lastly I think it'd be really cool if Nintendo incorporated bands of enemies or non-hostile NPCs that would just roam the various environments as they make their way to and from places. Just imagine riding Epona through a forest trail when you see a caravan get attacked by a group of moblins . I know I'm definitely just thinking from my ivory tower here, but this game really does have some potential.
My god o-o does this mean what i think it means that Zelda is truly evolving its becoming sentient to the fans :D its turning into a long game with many possibilities. I hope we can change outfits in this game :D id be so freaking happy if we could.
Glad to see that the WiiU is getting all kinds of cool stuff now! I got one and was kind of afraid that I would only be playing one or two games on it (I got it primarily for Smash), but I am glad to see that there is gonna be all kinds of awesome stuff now!
I watched both Microsoft and Sony's press conferences today, and already in the first two minutes of this... I'm sold. This is how you do a freaking video game press conference!!!!! But let me continue watching this before I make my final decision.
It baffles me that the wii u is doing so bad, sure it had no games at launch, but neither does PS4 or XBoned. There are currently so many fantastic games for the wii u it's almost a must pickup for anyone that can afford it (and it's dirt cheap compared to the other next gens).
This was a Smashing year for Nintendo. Thank you for making this all happen Iwata, may you rest in peace and make Nintendo famous in the great beyond.

The new Yoshi game looked sort of fascinating and I loved the vivid and rich color scheme (the gemstones for instance), same for the new Zelda. Despite being on a weaker console (the WiiU) they look about as nice as I could possibly imagine and use a full color palette. The 2-player co-op also looks ridiculously fun and reminds me of LittleBigPlanet but with a different art style and gameplay. I more than likely won't be playing any of the games though sadly because I'll be heading to China for my job (possibly for 4-5 years) and will be busy but if I were staying in the US I would certainly pick these up.
Yeah, the WiiU actually has some pretty damn good upcoming titles and free online/backwards compatibility with all my old Wii games would be nice. If only money wasn't so tight and I weren't moving it would be my current-gen pick for sure.
This was a blowout. I own all three consoles, and am vested in seeing great games for all of them. But Nintendo mopped the floor this E3. They had SO many new games to show, I lost count like 5 or 10 games ago. They had so many they just kept announcing more for the 2 days after the Digital Event was over.
I think nintendo done great again this year like last year when they unveil super smash bros with this nintendo direct style. but I really hope next year they will make e3 live conference but with this style of presentation. Good job nintendo!

Technically dark Link has already arrived where you just can change Link's clothing to black. Also if there is going to be a different play style with dark Link than it would like Mario & Dr Mario. Mario has more speed but Dr Mario has more strength.

I'm late to the party, but I'm going to say this. I was convinced that Nintendo was going to flop with E3 last year like they did in 2013 and, from what I've heard, 2012, I was convinced Microsoft and Sony were going to destroy Nintendo with revelations of big new advancements in their products and games. I was wrong. While Microsoft and Sony were busy milking their prized heifers for all they were worth, Nintendo was giving theirs a plasma cannon and a lifetime supply of cake and what equates to Half Life 3. They destroyed the conference in 2014. I find it fantastic that they are barely mentioning third party titles. Now that I'm done raving, here are a few things I loved about this presentation. 1. The new LoZ game looks sick! It might put the Elder Scrolls in the hot seat with what they're doing. 2. Bayonetta. I've never played Bayonetta, but now I want to just so I know what's going on when I buy a Wii U this year along with all of these games. 3. Splatoon looks like TF2 meets CoD, and I love it! 4. I would pay money to have Nintendo make an anime based on the SSB games. What they did with Palutena... That kicked so much ass! I cannot wait for the rest of this year!
It feels like 2013, Nintendo hit absolute rock bottom for them as a company. They're playing catchup now, and this press conference went a looooong way to helping them rebuild their image. A lot of excellent games, focus on making the Wii U less butts than it is currently, willingness to poke fun at itself a bit with the skits, remembering that Video Games Are Fun... just an excellent E3 from Nintendo. That said, even with new Zelda, Mario Maker, new Star Fox, new everything... Splatoon wins for me. It looks amazing.
They've actually had quite a few strong ones during the Switch era. 2017's was short, but jam packed with exciting announcements. 2018's was probably their weakest during the Switch era one if you weren't a Smash Bros. fan. 2019's was pure hype. 2021's was strong, with surprising announcements, although not as good as their 2019 show.
Wow... After watching this conference I definitely want to buy the WiiU! So many awesome games to come, I can't wait to see these future releases in stores! I hope this will increase Nintendo's revenue after apparently having low sales since the WiiU release. Good job Nintendo!
Dude. It was one show. E3 2000, and more so E3 2003, were boring showings for Nintendo, but they followed up the next years with what? The GameCube and Twilight Princess, respectively. This year was mediocre, but it's still the same nintendo we love. Just watch.

Nintendo In my opinion will forever be the number 1# gaming company. People show them no respect because they are not trying to be realistic like Playstation and Xbox. You must realize that Nintendo single handed Saved video gaming and has been around way before ps and Xbox. #WOW Definetly think Nintendo had an amazing unexpected and unique conference. Zelda, Bayonetta and Super Smash all look STUNNING and have me thinking about the Wii U. Xenoblade Chronicles X i was hyped for and this trailer almost had me but after seeing the E3 gameplay im not too sure considering XV is coming...i can only go so hard on 1 open world JRPG...with a Zelda:)
Bayonetta was already announced previously, so was SSB, and I'm pretty sure everyone expected a new zelda game. To be honest it looked pretty much exactly the same as what they've done for quite a while. Plus I'm really nervous about the direction they're taking zelda in. It still looks a little brighter for nintendo's future, but only slightly so. I'm not ready to spend that much money to get a bunch of sequels and one new IP that looks cool and unique, but I probably wouldn't play it for very long.
HOLY TRIFORCE nintendo definitely delivered! Definitely looking forward to what nintendo has in store for the future! Gaming will only get more advanced from here on!
In general, I'm not sure what the big hype with E3 2014 is. It looked cleaner than the other E3s in a long time and most things went smoothly, but I'm sorry, but there's not a lot in the way of innovation. The only two games I'm excided about are Splatoon and Elite Dangerous. I will say this about Nintendo though, they're the ONLY company trying their asses off to break the monotony, and it's a crying shame that idiots like the graphic whores XBONE and PS4 keep buying the next Uncharted, Farcry, Assassins' Creed, Call of Duty, etc... It is because of you guys why Nintendo, despite their efforts, is the only ones developing games on their system. They develop great games, but there's very few games for the system to this day. It isn't because they are putting out inferior products, but because developers don't see the Wii U as easy money since it is a harder console to develop for. After all, why use features like the Wii U gamepad when you can just have CryEngine (or whatever engine you wanna pick) do 90% of the work for you? It's stupid that people fall for it every damn time.
Geenee M Nintendo will eventually come out on top of this. They're too big of a company and are too good of developers to go under. What I'm wondering is if they will pull out of North America before the EAs and Call of Dutys of the world are history and give way to other forms of entertainment that provide better stimulation for the casuals. NA might be left in another dark age of video games, where the only people making games are indie developers who really are putting out shitty products now days.
LOL! I think Nintendo is already showing signs that they are pulling out... They have accepted the bubble they've been put into (by developers) and they have decided to thrive in it. One thing I love is that they refuse to change to fit the current trend. Their formula seems to be: Fun will out. They know that people will always gravitate back to the games that were the most fun and joyous, as evidenced by the squeals with glee when older titles become available for download.

Plenty of the games were interesting, and there are far more coming. I like that they stand apart, care little about the realism trends, try new things, have the best and most recognized franchises, and each game feels well made and overly fun. They release fewer titles, but they are all high quality fun. The other consoles are just sharing the same crap. It is not like you are going to be able to afford every single game on a console so I do not see the big deal. Not to mention it is backwards compatible unlike the rest.
Just bought a used (Like New) condition Wii U,this funny,fast paced digital event really won my heart and also led to my decision to buy Wii U! Tons of FUN games coming for the system I have no choice but to jump into their world! PS4 you will have to take the backseat at least from now until late July you can shine again.

It's basically a flashdrive save file and while you play the character levels up and stats and other things can change and grow, like an RPG. That's how I understood it, anyway.
Tantalus017 yeah he speaks the truth the best way to describe it is. you pay x amount of dollars for the figures. you spend x amount of time playing with that specific character leveling them up choosing their moves stats ect. and so far its just mario kart 8 and super smash bros but eventally you can just collect and level up your characters so lets say you go to a friends house and you both want to play super smash bros and you both have amibos. you can fight eachothers character and level them up off of eachother kind of like pokemon in a sense. sorry you did a good descriptions tantalus017 i was just elaborating on it a bit

Yeah, what Tantalus017 said, but I think it's bigger than that. Since the microprocessor is built into the figure itself, there may be figures that are able to move, talk, and do many different things. Flash drives just store data, but the figure may be able to act as some sort of output device in its own right. At least, that's the hope.
its just a gimmicky thing like skylanders. the more you collect the more you level them up the better you will do at the games. its all just a big gimmick that will end up making people cough up gobs of money. the concept isnt bad but its in the end just another gimick to get a lot of money from you. also if this is going the way i think its goin this is basically a fancified e reader which means they will eventually start selling not only figures but weopons and other power ups as the statues too so you can be like boom scan like zelda then boom scan like skyward sword or the master sword or whatever and now your character in this game will have the stats you have earned for him and the weopon with the stats you have earned on that. but like i said in the end its all a big gimmick to get more mney

This is what makes Nintendo amazing and better than all the other companies. What Nintendo does is coming up with new ideas and making them possible through games, rather than recycling games with another number. And when Nintendo does make another game with the same name, it's a whole other game.

The only negative gripe I have is that we didn't see any metroid game, but I'm sure that's in the pipeline. Well done Nintendo.
wat i truly love about nintendo is that they create games that ANY age can enjoy. unlike sony and microsoft, they bring games more for a older "experienced" audience and it was always hard to play games on those consoles with friends. my friends and i when we hang out or have sleepovers, we always play nintendo games together and have great fun, more than playing cod or l4d, nintendo will always be a part of my gaming life and always has been since i started gaming :)
I don't really think anyone should think of Nintendo as a competitor, it's really one of a kind, as they keep their policy of keeping games universally playable by all age and adults or kids alike, and also though the graphics were not as impressive as it is, the gameplay and exclusivity is really noticable. I liked how their innovations that are beyond realistic and yet are fun so other than just a normal sequel and same old controller gameplay.

lets be real here. they showed like 10 games. 2-3 were remasters and 1 was a whole new IP and really about 5 games were the only really notable games. those being ZeldaU, Smash Bros 4, Pokemon ruby(remastered), Pokemon sapphire(remastered), and Bayonetta 2. Splatoon looked fun but basically amounts to a children's COD(still looks better then COD though). If you wanna count the Starfox announcement then they showed 11 games and 6 of those are worth while. that's barely anything to contend with. just Sony alone announced just about as many major exclusives not including XbOne. im not the Fanboy type, but the sad reality is Nintendo is Crumbling Under the Pressure of Sony And Microsoft. There is even talk about them planning to ditch the WiiU platform to create a device that can compete with the new hardware from Sony and XbOne. Them Leaving E3 wasn't a matter of them being too good for it. its more likely they left because they either didn't have the cash to put up a show on the E3 Floor or they didn't want the public reaction to kill the vibe of the presentation. I for one hope to god they can pull out of this slump and Revive themselves because it would be a shame for them to end up like Sega did and end up becoming a 3rd Party Developer for Sony and Microsoft.... or worse for one company to end up buying them out regardless of who it is. if it sony there may be a chance that the franchises would stay the same but its about a 50-50 chance. and i Hope to god that Microsoft doesn't get em because frankly im completely afraid of what MS would do to some of my favorite childhood franchises like zelda or mario they tend to make things serious and really action-y which could ruin those franchises completely....the serious part might help starfox or metroid tho. but either way the reality is Nintendo is taking alot of hits and really the only thing thats keeping them alive is Pokemon, Zelda, Mario, Metriod, Smash Bros, and i guess starfox in the future.

Hopefully not with the combat, but I'm all for the more open-world style exploration found within the Elder Scrolls games. I just hope that the zelda game isn't super empty. While vast open worlds can be fun to explore, I find the excitement quickly dies down when you notice much of the game is void of NPC. Additionally I hope Nintendo takes a cue from the souls series, by From Software, by featuring those massive landmarks that dominate the edge of the horizon. Nothing really gets the exploration engines revving more than seeing a dark castle looming on the edge of a far off mountain ridge beckoning you to explore it and anything you may come across on your way to it. Lastly I think it'd be really cool if Nintendo incorporated bands of enemies or non-hostile NPCs that would just roam the various environments as they make their way to and from places. Just imagine riding Epona through a forest trail when you see a caravan get attacked by a group of moblins . I know I'm definitely just thinking from my ivory tower here, but this game really does have some potential.
My god o-o does this mean what i think it means that Zelda is truly evolving its becoming sentient to the fans :D its turning into a long game with many possibilities. I hope we can change outfits in this game :D id be so freaking happy if we could.

It baffles me that the wii u is doing so bad, sure it had no games at launch, but neither does PS4 or XBoned. There are currently so many fantastic games for the wii u it's almost a must pickup for anyone that can afford it (and it's dirt cheap compared to the other next gens).

The new Yoshi game looked sort of fascinating and I loved the vivid and rich color scheme (the gemstones for instance), same for the new Zelda. Despite being on a weaker console (the WiiU) they look about as nice as I could possibly imagine and use a full color palette.
The 2-player co-op also looks ridiculously fun and reminds me of LittleBigPlanet but with a different art style and gameplay.
I more than likely won't be playing any of the games though sadly because I'll be heading to China for my job (possibly for 4-5 years) and will be busy but if I were staying in the US I would certainly pick these up.

Yeah, the WiiU actually has some pretty damn good upcoming titles and free online/backwards compatibility with all my old Wii games would be nice.

This was a blowout. I own all three consoles, and am vested in seeing great games for all of them. But Nintendo mopped the floor this E3. They had SO many new games to show, I lost count like 5 or 10 games ago. They had so many they just kept announcing more for the 2 days after the Digital Event was over.
I think nintendo done great again this year like last year when they unveil super smash bros with this nintendo direct style. but I really hope next year they will make e3 live conference but with this style of presentation. Good job nintendo!

Technically dark Link has already arrived where you just can change Link's clothing to black. Also if there is going to be a different play style with dark Link than it would like Mario & Dr Mario. Mario has more speed but Dr Mario has more strength.

I'm late to the party, but I'm going to say this. I was convinced that Nintendo was going to flop with E3 last year like they did in 2013 and, from what I've heard, 2012, I was convinced Microsoft and Sony were going to destroy Nintendo with revelations of big new advancements in their products and games. I was wrong. While Microsoft and Sony were busy milking their prized heifers for all they were worth, Nintendo was giving theirs a plasma cannon and a lifetime supply of cake and what equates to Half Life 3. They destroyed the conference in 2014. I find it fantastic that they are barely mentioning third party titles. Now that I'm done raving, here are a few things I loved about this presentation. 1. The new LoZ game looks sick! It might put the Elder Scrolls in the hot seat with what they're doing. 2. Bayonetta. I've never played Bayonetta, but now I want to just so I know what's going on when I buy a Wii U this year along with all of these games. 3. Splatoon looks like TF2 meets CoD, and I love it! 4. I would pay money to have Nintendo make an anime based on the SSB games. What they did with Palutena... That kicked so much ass! I cannot wait for the rest of this year!

It feels like 2013, Nintendo hit absolute rock bottom for them as a company. They're playing catchup now, and this press conference went a looooong way to helping them rebuild their image. A lot of excellent games, focus on making the Wii U less butts than it is currently, willingness to poke fun at itself a bit with the skits, remembering that Video Games Are Fun... just an excellent E3 from Nintendo.
That said, even with new Zelda, Mario Maker, new Star Fox, new everything... Splatoon wins for me. It looks amazing.

2018's was probably their weakest during the Switch era one if you weren't a Smash Bros. fan.
2019's was pure hype.
2021's was strong, with surprising announcements, although not as good as their 2019 show.
That Splatoon game actually looks quite appealing for some reason.

To be honest, I think the Captain Toad game would be better on 3DS. Puzzle games just seems better on a handheld. Also, WHAT ABOUT STAR FOX?!
Despite the blurring they did, its so obvious the game Miyamoto is playing at the end is Starfox. Weather its actual footage or just a Hidden Teaser is up to speculation. Pausing the Video at 46:36 clearly is an Arwing on the blurred screen.

Nintendo In my opinion will forever be the number 1# gaming company. People show them no respect because they are not trying to be realistic like Playstation and Xbox. You must realize that Nintendo single handed Saved video gaming and has been around way before ps and Xbox. They do not need to Compete anyway because just by them being able to remaster all their classic games and people still buy them is amazing. I have been with Nintendo since I could walk. Definetly think Nintendo had an amazing unexpected and unique conference. Zelda, Bayonetta and Super Smash all look STUNNING and have me thinking about the Wii U. Xenoblade Chronicles X i was hyped for and this trailer almost had me but after seeing the E3 gameplay im not too sure considering XV is coming...i can only go so hard on 1 open world JRPG...with a Zelda:)
Bayonetta was already announced previously, so was SSB, and I'm pretty sure everyone expected a new zelda game. To be honest it looked pretty much exactly the same as what they've done for quite a while. Plus I'm really nervous about the direction they're taking zelda in. It still looks a little brighter for nintendo's future, but only slightly so. I'm not ready to spend that much money to get a bunch of sequels and one new IP that looks cool and unique, but I probably wouldn't play it for very long.
HOLY TRIFORCE nintendo definitely delivered! Definitely looking forward to what nintendo has in store for the future! Gaming will only get more advanced from here on!

In general, I'm not sure what the big hype with E3 2014 is. It looked cleaner than the other E3s in a long time and most things went smoothly, but I'm sorry, but there's not a lot in the way of innovation.
The only two games I'm excided about are Splatoon and Elite Dangerous.
I will say this about Nintendo though, they're the ONLY company trying their asses off to break the monotony, and it's a crying shame that idiots like the graphic whores XBONE and PS4 keep buying the next Uncharted, Farcry, Assassins' Creed, Call of Duty, etc...
It is because of you guys why Nintendo, despite their efforts, is the only ones developing games on their system. They develop great games, but there's very few games for the system to this day. It isn't because they are putting out inferior products, but because developers don't see the Wii U as easy money since it is a harder console to develop for. After all, why use features like the Wii U gamepad when you can just have CryEngine (or whatever engine you wanna pick) do 90% of the work for you?

Geenee M Nintendo will eventually come out on top of this. They're too big of a company and are too good of developers to go under. LOL! I think Nintendo is already showing signs that they are pulling out... They have accepted the bubble they've been put into (by developers) and they have decided to thrive in it. One thing I love is that they refuse to change to fit the current trend. Their formula seems to be: Fun will out. They know that people will always gravitate back to the games that were the most fun and joyous, as evidenced by the squeals with glee when older titles become available for download.
Funny if people talk about other games its always the fps and sports game and no one talks about mmo's fighting games and race games how nice man fps games aren't really that popular
Plenty of the games were interesting, and there are far more coming. I like that they stand apart, care little about the realism trends, try new things, have the best and most recognized franchises, and each game feels well made and overly fun. They release fewer titles, but they are all high quality fun. The other consoles are just sharing the same crap. It is not like you are going to be able to afford every single game on a console so I do not see the big deal. Not to mention it is backwards compatible unlike the rest.

so wtf is the point of an amiibo? how is putting a character that already exists in the game on your gamepad doing anything different besides now you have a physical toy of it?
It's basically a flashdrive save file and while you play the character levels up and stats and other things can change and grow, like an RPG. That's how I understood it, anyway.
Tantalus017 yeah he speaks the truth the best way to describe it is. you pay x amount of dollars for the figures. you spend x amount of time playing with that specific character leveling them up choosing their moves stats ect. and so far its just mario kart 8 and super smash bros but eventally you can just collect and level up your characters so lets say you go to a friends house and you both want to play super smash bros and you both have amibos. you can fight eachothers character and level them up off of eachother kind of like pokemon in a sense. sorry you did a good descriptions tantalus017 i was just elaborating on it a bit

Since the microprocessor is built into the figure itself, there may be figures that are able to move, talk, and do many different things. Flash drives just store data, but the figure may be able to act as some sort of output device in its own right. At least, that's the hope.
its just a gimmicky thing like skylanders. the more you collect the more you level them up the better you will do at the games. its all just a big gimmick that will end up making people cough up gobs of money. the concept isnt bad but its in the end just another gimick to get a lot of money from you. also if this is going the way i think its goin this is basically a fancified e reader which means they will eventually start selling not only figures but weopons and other power ups as the statues too so you can be like boom scan like zelda then boom scan like skyward sword or the master sword or whatever and now your character in this game will have the stats you have earned for him and the weopon with the stats you have earned on that. but like i said in the end its all a big gimmick to get more mney

This is what makes Nintendo amazing and better than all the other companies. What Nintendo does is coming up with new ideas and making them possible through games, rather than recycling games with another number. And when Nintendo does make another game with the same name, it's a whole other game.
