True story. I’m from the. South Island of NZ and a bloke I know , big burly police sergeant had one for years bashing it around the bush and alps hunting and gold panning...absolutely loved it. No need for a tent and being cheap , didn’t matter if it got a dent or 5.

I have driven a suzuki jimny for ten years, It's an awesome 4x4 it holds its own with the big boys, it as loads of advantages over bigger 4x4 's, it gets into places they can't, shorter wheel Base means it climbs better over ridges, it's lightweight and doesn't bog down as easily as the bigger 4x4', fuel economy it's far better more miles for your money and on tarmac it even out performs most conventional cars it's a legend simple as.

the only place where it has "loads of advantages over bigger 4x4 's" is MPG. And the city center. It'll never even get to places where Wranglers or Defenders start to straggle. There's a good reason why nobody used a Jimmy in a Paris-Dakar rally. The guy said it right - isn't not a bad little toy

After a lot of LRs, I dabbled with one, and liked it - low running costs, competent enough for "real world" off road stuff - rough tracks on the way to walking the dogs, super reliable. If they do have one weakness - the rust proofing underneath is woeful, and doesn't take long to look dreadful - buy one that's been looked after, and keep it well wax-oiled, and wash off any salt from winter driving. Arguably, the earlier ones are better (lower class RFL uk), and less electronics to go wrong.... I gather, in Japan, there's a diesel option - pity that wasn't brought to the UK.

You'd be surprised how much you can fit in the back of one of these. I went on a week camping trip and took, Gas Stove, 10 Man Tent, Stretcher, 1 Medium/Large Esky, 1 Regular handheld esky capable of holding say a 32pack of drinks?. Camp lights, a single foam mattress for the stretcher, spearfishing gear, sleeping bag, a bag of clothes, gas stove stand. A Tarp. And more (that I can't think of). Oh and 2 small gas bottles.
Going from 0-60 is fine in suburb/city traffic. You can comfortably sit on 80 with about 2600 RPM. Going 90-100, you'll sit on approx 3000 RPM. Fuel is definitely more economical for city driving as the small cylinder engine with the high rpm on highway driving will drink some fuel (not heaps tho).
I definitely don't agree with the 6ft person having heaps of leg room, I'm 5ft 11 and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone taller.
4WD'ing in these are a breeze, since it's so light, going on the beach and up the dunes is no problem at all. Can easily get to where the heavier 4WD's would struggle. Paid $4000 for my Jimny which has about 132,000km on the clock which I thought was a great price. Bought it from a Dr. who was first owner.

You can't change perfection, i know a farmer with one of these and for the price you can't get a better 4x4 even used prices you'll struggle. Best you could get is a second hand range/land rover which will be expensive to run, insure and repair and as for other options like a Jeep or CR-V they're just crap all round

"this car is small, if you got over that" in what 1999? Now small cars are sought after in the time where a compact wagon is bigger than any minivan of the time. No joke! My old minivan broke down just last week and I am in the need of a new car and man are those big. The Jimny truly is a niche car, but the niche is quite changing.

Proud owner of a Jimny. The wind up isn't instantaneous, it takes a lot of turns to be able to feel it, and if you go over any bumps in the road, its usually able to spin a wheel during the bounce. That being said, if he did that in my car, I'd kill him!

At least it manages to chirp out about 79 bhp, which isn’t bad. Especially in a car weighing no more than a packet of [REDACTED].

A f****t was a bundle of kindling sold to city folks where there weren’t any trees. The word comes from Fasci, the bundle of sticks that demonstrates the power of many per Mussolini, the Roosevelt dime and the ape that takes over the world. Also the reason we have Pride parades and such. So this conversation has gone full circle, hasn’t it?

But you have to pay taxes for it anyway, or you are not allowed to drive it and you can´t get MOT for it. So importing it doesn´t benefit anything.
