    "Honest unbiased review to help you buy it right the first timers saving you time & money" I think I take for granted the service channels like this provide in my life I have barely buy anything without looking it up on TH-cam but it's channels like this specifically that I appreciate ones that chock full of information and none of the BS you don't care about. It's professionally recorded organized thorough and think about just with LED headlight bulbs alone what you could go out and spend as far as money and end up with pieces of junk or much better options for fraction of what you paid that would be the likely outcome were it not for channels like this guy so thanks I appreciate the hell out of it

    Great to see new content after such a long hiatus. It’s great that you guys show the wall test pattern & noise levels on your site , in addition to the driving test videos. Looking forward to seeing how you guys stack these up against the new GTR’s and Morimoto’s. I feel LED’s still aren’t the best choice for most reflector based vehicles. But it’s nice to see they’re getting there, better every year.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Mark! Yes sorry a lot of life happened hence the delay, but I still make sure to keep things going as much as I can! We tested the new GTR's and Morimoto's, so be sure to check them out on our site. I did a full review (article) on the Morimoto's as well. LEDs are getting better, but a halogen or HID is still superior just based on the design. LED can only get so close (in terms of beam pattern), but are of course a lot brighter. The light needs to be in the right place of course.

    Another fair and unbiased review vid from Bulbfacts! Thanks. One suggestion I have is when including footage of the actual bulbs on the road, perhaps include the year, make and model of the vehicle used for the demonstration as well as the type of housing that vehicle employs (reflector/projector) to provide a more complete understanding to the viewers. Looking forward to the next round of reviews! Thanks again!

      I think their product is good quality and has a lifetime warranty, probably why they are double the price of what they should be. Warranty is only as good as the company offering it though. I have owned the hikari and had one burn out after a year. I don't drive much so it didn't even come close to claimed life span. 90 bucks isn't exactly cheap either.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@doubleya215 good point. The premium brands do seem to use higher grade components including the diodes, but the biggest factor is the additional warranty they are providing. Headlight Revolution for example has a live support staff and will cover issues, help with install, etc. whereas with Amazon and outlets alike you are limited as far as what service you'll get, along with a much shorter warranty (if the company is even still around by then).

      Hi C Eger, If you are referring to the fanless and driverless type with no cable, they will perform ok, however the types with a fan in particular perform much better and are recommended. What should I look into for a replacement bulb that goes into an off road light for heavy equipment? It is a Speaker branded reflector housing that uses a 9005 and has a trapezoid pattern. Should I be looking at HID or LED?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shaun, we haven't tested that specific housing, but in general if you are looking for the maximum in output, I would go with a 55W HID conversion if there is room for it. Since it's off-road, be sure to go with a quality brand as they use quality seals/connectors to keep moisture, dust, etc. out (waterproof). LED is an easier drop-in and will offer a very large upgrade as well. In that case, go with the DDM Tuning SaberPro 50w model, as they offload more lumens as HID but in an LED. They do have a fan though, and although it's supposed to be waterproof, I wouldn't recommend it if it can be exposed to the harsh elements. If it's a sealed headlight though you are good.

    • @MClass2011
      @MClass2011 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just purchased the Katana's, and I'm using them in projectors on an Acura RDX. I bought them because the factory halogens seemed very dim, so dim I could barely see lines on the road at night. Unfortunately, after replacing factory halogens with the Katana's, the light is still dim. Much brighter than the hologen's that looked like DRL's running at night, but nothing as bright as they should be. Turns out the RDX had an issue with the reflective film inside the projector, and this is the issue I'm currently having. With the Katana LED's in my defective projectors, driving next to cars with halogen bulbs it drowns out the light from my Katana's, which sucks. I can tell you that the bulbs themselves are significantly brighter than the hologen's when running outside of the headlamp housing.

      Hi Ty, we have seen feedback from Mazda owner's that the XT1 G2's perform very well!

  • @MiguelRPD
    @MiguelRPD 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Guys I bought the Lumibright XT1 GEN 2 and I can personally attest that these are very close to being the best LEDs for *Halogen Projectors*.
    One thing I struggled to find Is a bright led that does not fade overtime with use. The Katana LEDs are amazingly bright but they are meant for fog lights because they dim pretty quick within 10 minutes. That means that down-the-road visibility goes out the window. I bought these for my Camry, Lexus and my mother's Corolla. But it just wasn't meant for projectors on my Lexus since they need a very powerful LED to maintain that hotspot. That's there the Lumibrights come in.
    They are expensive. I didn't think I was going to spend $170 on LEDs. But hey here I am. I can now see quite far thanks to the intense and more focused light output. The LEDs don't dim after 10 or 20 or even 60 minutes of use ! They just keep going. And to me that's completely worth the cost. Plus It has a 3 year warranty. That inspires confidence into the product. Guys whatever LED you choose for halogen projectors. Please choose an expensive option if you are serious about light output at night. And hell if the LED can last you 2, 3 or 4 years of use then that will at least match the cost of the cheaper halogen bulbs that eventually dim and need replacing.
    I decided not to get the GTRs because I don't trust the lifetime warranty and they are in house LEDs from headlight revolution so of course they will be biased towards their own product.
    But yeah I love my Lumibrights. And I thank this channel to giving us the option to see some LED tests to compare performance vs buying blindly and seeing what works. Thanks bulbfacts!

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Miguel, glad to hear they worked out well! It's great to see actual user input as well. And that is a difference I should have mentioned in the video, and is a great point; the diodes are higher quality vs. cheaper models and will stay brighter longer. The GTR's are also a great product and we have seen input from others that they do honor their warranty. But yes HR is going to be biased as it's their own product. We hope to break that issue with our tests and reviews! Nothing is biased no matter what.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Hunter. An HID conversion may be the best option for your low-beam projectors, but LED is a great upgrade as well, and I would recommend the XT1 G2's there. For your fogs, the DDM Tuning SaberPro's are our pick, but many people choose the same LED as their main beams to match the color, solely up to you. You can't go wrong with our top picks from this video though.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I plan to put out a new video soon, but for higher wattage LEDs, they don't seem to have any effect on a vehicle, and normally run lower than halogens. For example, the DDM Tuning ProX V2 55W runs at 47.8W/ea, which is the highest wattage we have seen from an LED so far, and a typical 55W halogen runs around 48.2W. The LED will be much cooler as well. If you have any specific requests for products though be sure to send them over!

      Hey Brad, that's certainly odd, but not unheard of. Halogen headlights are typically 55w/65w, and an LED would run at a lower wattage, so they should not break a fuse. Some vehicle's CANBUS systems will see a bulb outside of the range and for safety disable them unfortunately.

      Hi Michael. We plan to test the lifespan and performance on these LEDs in the future, as we have heard that before. Definitely don't listen to him with converting to HID. It's an outdated system that uses too much wattage, takes time to reach full lighting potential, and the bulbs are expensive to replace which burn out more frequently than other bulbs. High quality LED bulbs in a projector or reflector will out perform a HID system. I recommend Hikari Thunder 12k lumen for the projector because it has a focused beam, which is ideal for a projector and Hikari Top XHP50.2 18k lumen for the reflector because it has a wider beam. As a REAL TIME user trust me you won't be disappointed. I honestly have no need for the high beam honestly.

    I just picked up the Lasfit LA series...mainly convinced by their TH-cam materials, tbh. Have you guys had a chance to review those bulbs? If so, would be grateful for your assessment. Perhaps I should change those to something else for my KIA Optima 2019 LX

    Can you please recommend a good quality LED with a good beam pattern. For my 2007 Pontiac G6 The low beam is H11 I do need fanless I have already tried beam tech They were OK. But I just wanted another selection to pick from maybe a couple. But I definitely need fan less because I travel a lot and I I listen to AM radio in the fan would make a lot of static

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Richard, I would go with a fan based model. When you go fanless, they have to run much lower as the diodes cannot be kept as cool, so you won't get nearly as bright of LEDs. Take a look at our latest recommendations, we keep this page up to date as we test new products; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/

    De they have similar retrofit bulbs for the reverse lights? I find I struggle to see behind my 1997 Toyota Tacoma at night and I see no reason why my reverse lights shouldn't be bright.

      Hi Ken, we plan to test the smaller size LEDs in the future, such as reverse bulbs. You can find some great options currently though out there, but we can't make any recommendations just yet until we personally test.

    I have reflector fog lights and not sure which budget LED Techmax bulb to get... According to Bulbfacts test charts, GEN 1 did better than GEN 2, but someone on the Bulbfacts TH-cam account recommended the GEN 2. Can we figure this out in this message please?? I need to know which one to order asap!!
    Thanks

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe, sorry for the delay and confusion there! The Techmax Gen1 outperformed the Gen2's, but the results are pretty close. For a fog application, we typically recommend a higher lumen LED to bring more light around the vehicle, as well as a lower color temperature as well.

    Why is video on camera left side >not good and sharp< like on right side?? Different camera?
    Great work anyway!

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's due to the Hz rate from an LED not matching the camera's shutter speed, so we had to add a filter to smooth it out. It does add some ghosting effects though unfortunately, but it's much better than a flickering video.

    How do led bulbs do in extreme cold weather, snow blizzard. Do they get snow covered? Do they cut threw the snow fall or just reflect back off the snow

    Hey, I’m new to this and I’m looking to replace my high beams, low beams and fog light.
    Do I have to buy a kit that includes all of the above?
    I’m worried that if I buy different brands for each one the coloring will look off at the end.

      Just pick up whatever size fits, if you're concerned about matching you'll want to pay attention to Kelvin (color) of the lights. Though you may have to purchase a product that isn't listed here to just to match

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bryxn 5200, you'll need 3 sets, but if you wanted to match the color/tone, then certainly go with the same brand/model. You can use this link to help confirm the sizes needed; www.automotivebulbfinder.com/philips/

    My 2016 passat has factory LED but have dimmed a bit over the years. VW assure me nothing can be done, but are you aware of a way to get original (or better) brightness back? It used to be a few bucks for a halogen bulb as they aged, not thousands for a modern car today

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Agnus, yes I'm very sorry to hear that! It's a trade-off now with OE LED which is non-changeable. I would recommend a set of aftermarket headlights and a quality set of HID and/or LEDs for the main and high-beams (HID or LED for low, LED or halogen for high). It should still cost you quite a bit less over a new set of OEM headlights which like you said run thousands.
