  • A growing number of people who recover from COVID-19 are experiencing long-term health problems. This includes younger patients without pre-existing conditions who had only mild symptoms with the virus. How are doctors and patients responding?
The COVID-19 disease is triggered by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and can affect multiple organs. The symptoms of the initial illness are now well known. But what about the long-term effects of coronavirus? Not everyone who gets COVID-19 makes a full recovery afterwards. A growing number of people are experiencing reduced physical and abilities and cognitive symptoms. One such patient is 31-year old junior doctor Maria. Five months after falling sick, she is still unable to work normally.
In October, Germany’s University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein launched the largest study to date on the long-term effects of coronavirus. Teams of doctors specialized in various fields of medicine are planning to examine several thousand former COVID-19 patients who have officially "recovered" from the virus. They’re looking in particular at the lungs, heart, kidneys and liver, as well as the nervous system and metabolism. Christopher Bley from Berlin would welcome the opportunity to be included in a study like that. The 35-year-old feels he isn’t getting the support he needs from doctors. Ever since the father of two contracted the virus, he has been battling shortness of breath. For a long time, he hoped he would heal naturally, but the problem persists.
Writer Nina Marewski from Frankfurt feels similarly let down by doctors. She says they either ignore her or don’t take her seriously. She has been writing about her experience with coronavirus online, and is giving a voice to other post-COVID "long haulers". This documentary accompanies three people who are struggling with the aftereffects of the virus. What do the health problems mean for them and how do they deal with the uncertainty about whether they will ever make a full recovery?

Everyone is infected. Everyone thats been told by doctors that they are negative, is a lie. Just because someone doesnt have symptoms doesnt mean they are negative. I know theres more people that wont believe me because they are part of the 90% of people in world that are controlled and brainwashed.

You should look into POTS and progressive exercise treatment. It sounds weird, but after I got a virus as a teenager I developed POTS and was tired, weak and fainting sometimes. The only thing that worked for reducing the symptoms was starting slow and gradually increasing exercise.

Sleep heals. Its even better if you fast for increasingly progressive hours. 12 hours the first few days , then 14, 16 , 18 , 20. Then do a 24 hour fast. If you also follow the keto diet, fasting will be easy . Thats because hunger is mostly a craving for sugar . There is sugar in fruit and also many carbohydrates. People are all addicted to sugar and many have insulin resistance which is why deseases and viruses take hold instead of being killed off and eaten up by the bodys immune system.

I had similar experiences. My husband(54 yrs) got gastrointestinal infection for 3 days, my teen son only ”covid toes”, other kids nothing. It took me almost 3 months to feel somewhat ”normal” again, I fell ill in late march. Female, 40-ish, no risk group. I had respiratory symptoms(that luckily didn’t make me end up in hospital), but they did not resemble asthma like many assume. Rather, you can breathe in and out like normal, but your lungs don’t quite take up oxygen properly. Terrible feeling and believe me-fear inducing. One weird thing was how I felt fully recovered for 2-3 days and then it came back.
It was not until I had been symptom free for 6-7 days I could feel reassured I was well again.

    • @blurplebear8573
      @blurplebear8573 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

that's funny cause the only people that are dying from it are elderly with multiple health issues or erroneously put on a ventilator. The virus hasn't even been isolated and the test checks for proteins based on an RNA sample from people with the common cold. So there is literally no basis to say that this thing even exists let alone kills anyone. You what is going to kill a bunch of people? The bacterial pneumonia they get from wearing a diaper on their face all day.

Not really. I might do it for 6 months but after that I'd fall into a heap and have to quit. But so many people still say that Fibro doesn't exist and it's psychological. That's really interesting! My wife has Fibro and it absolutely exists. Man, I hate that when people say it doesn't, medicine absolutely acknowledges it exists. Things that trigger an attack (stress being a major one) and things that help it (not Pharma, they can't do anything for it really, it's too misunderstood of a disease and only recently acknowledged in the last few decades and no meds for it are useful). But Cannabis, oh yeah, very commonly helps a tonne of Fibro sufferers use it and magnesium seems to help. Even Epsom salt baths do, cause magnesium sulfate. I never knew that Fibro could be caused by an infection, fascinating. So it is finally now being better understood, wonderful. Your comment has broadened my already very broad knowledge and understanding of pathogen/infectious disease science, so thank's, that's incredible. Of to research I go, hehehe.

@@sauces_official Those are some of the most common (and serious) issues I see. Lung, cardiovascular and cognitive/neurological problems post Covid and a lot of fatigue. Scary stuff indeed, especially when there's been actual studies showing children getting serious cardiovascular damage from it. So much for the lunatic notion that children are largely immune from it (a la Trump and similar Covidiot morons). I saw all this coming, I called it and those who study this stuff, even loosely did and were like "oh hell, this isn't your run of the mill virus" and it's proven to be precisely that, no joke. And I wish people would take it more seriously. Now we have varients/mutations, like the U.K. and South African ones, which although no more deadly, are 70% more virulent. Yeesh.
Fascinating thing about that though that I recently learned. Predictive science, can create vaccines now that are in a sense, loosely "future proofed". They can loosely predict (artificially accelerate mutation and other things) what a virus may do next, based on pressures it encounters to evolve/mutate. And create vaccines around that. And that may be, why the current Covid vaccines, should be effective against these new mutations. And get this, they are actually at a fairly advanced stage, of creating a Lord of the Rings style vaccine. Lol. One vaccine to rule them all. Maybe 10, 20, 30, or 40 years off, but that's the aim a universal vaccine, good for everything. One shot, good for life, against all viri. of any kind. Now that would be awesome and I didn't know this but a Virologist from the U.K. I saw in an interview/documentary was talking about some of the advancements.
If they can figure out what they have so far (amazing), I am sure that will be a reality someday, a universal vaccine. Then we will have essentially won the war against our tiniest and most deadly enemies.

The fatigue got better after a year, but the constant pain has never left. Allergies definitely started with it. At first I was hyperallergic to everything - the tests proved it. It's unfortunate that doctors are not aware of Myalgic encephalomyelitis and it's history. Viral outbreak = long term disability for a % of people. For the researchers and patients of M.E. we have seen all of this before. The same happened with SARS, 10% got M.E.
M.E. has been around for a long time but dismissed as pathological by medical professionals. I was shocked that patients who contracted COVID were pathologized once there initial trauma ended. I was hoping that with a global pandemic, doctors would take the longterm aspects seriously. So dismayed and it highlights a serious problem within the medical profession that needs to change.
What worries me is the pushing to get better. This had led to permanent physical disability in some M.E. patients. Where one was somewhat functioning, physical activity such as exercise has led to permanent confinement to wheelchairs or even bed.

I live with chronic pain and extreme fatigue. I had none of these issues prior to Chikingunya. I can no longer stand or sit for any length of time, pain in my joints and muscles, severe migraines that can last for days, brain fog, bedridden for days or sometimes weeks at a time from exhaustion. I’m hoping from this terrible pandemic there can hopefully be some break through in regards to post -virus chronic illnesses. Most people who end up with ME/CFS originally start off with some type of virus and then never completely recover.....if anything you end up with a whole other medical issues. I was tested for positive covid 19 on June 17 and got my symptoms on June 15, 2021. It has been 18days now since the onset of the covid. I still suffer from cough and colds. At times, I feel dizzy. My sens of smell and taste is not the same as before. My appetite I feel has reduced. I don't get enough sleep. Now I developed mild pneumonia. I am advised to continue isolate myself. This covid 19 has impacted me a lot. Financial, mental, emotional and physical. I fervently hope that I will be fully recovered as I still have plans for my daughter. I am single parent. I still want to see my daughter graduate fr college. I still want to enjoy my life with her. This is really a great documentary on the after affects of covid 19. I have been looking for a comprehensive and relatable documentary like this. I personally have also just recovered from Covid 19 in July 2021. It wasn’t an easy episode.
Till now, getting back to fitness is really tough and I run out of breath quicker than I used to. My strength has also reduced and it looks like it will be a slow process to regain it again. I also experience elevated rested heart beating compared to my normal days. My sleep is also affected, some days are worst than others. Just like the gentleman in the video, I also have put weight on and sometimes experience more hunger than before, perhaps this will be an area of exercising self control.
Covid 19 really isn’t something to play around with. My message to everyone is to stay safe and take caution. There is still much to be learned about this virus and it’s long term affects.

Just don't lose hope. & until then, let this experience motivate you to make better choices regarding your health, so that when you look back at it after you've fully recovered, you'll be grateful for the impact it had on you. CFS/ME cases always spike with outbreaks. There are about a dozen other names for it, but they all share the same general characteristics: exertion intolerance, chronic exhaustion, multifaceted pain, etc. Treatment availability is practically nonexistent, unless you count the terrible advice that patients usually get--which permanently worsens their condition. Patients have to pace within their envelope, but the usual advice is to ramp up activity levels. You can't even get a diagnosis usually, because most doctors don't take it seriously or don't want to do anything about it. 99/100 they will misdiagnose the patient, usually as psychosomatic. This is not new. It's been known about for well over a century. Misinformation has completely prevented clinical developments.

After seven months bad symptoms started to appear, weakness, dizziness, kidney pain, shortness of breath, many chest pressures. short breath. my life changed a lot after COVID, I still don't have a good sense of smell and taste, after the second COVID and the first dose of the vaccine. got worse but. When I took the first twelve of the vaccine (Pfizer) I stopped breathing within ten minutes. I stayed at the Hospital for two days, with a monitor on my chest for two weeks. my life now. with difficulty breathing. I'm just scared of getting depressed. Thanks.

My friends and surrounding people have had light Covid and therefore I couldn't explain them what's going on with me they started think I am exaggerating but thanks to this documentary it absolutely explains what's I'm really being through now.
