@zae333 thanks for your kind words... Well I'm buying this so one the weather gets a little calmer.. expect a part 2 from 20 yards.. my guess is that it won't have any issues at 20 yards. It is a very tight shooting gun. cheers rick
I bought the .22 version. The Hammerli 850 Magnum is a great air rifle, with a bolt operation using an 8-round rotary magazine. It's a handsome gun, easy to handle, highly accurate! .
@bfgguns It could be.. I didn't even notice that! I'll take another look and get back with everyone.. I may have to adjust my review somewhat! Thanks for catching that. Rick
@mrbadx19 The 88gram cartridges are expensive.. There is a way to refill them however.. I'm going to be showing that soon. The parts are not that bad and you can get 5 or 6 fills from a 20 oz paintball tank. It brings the cost down to about $1 per 200 shots. I just bought 5 new tanks for $75. The fittings are from Bryan and Associates. Nice folks to work with and talk to. cheers. Rick
I have the .22 version of this gun and everything you said in your review is spot on . It surpassed all my expectatios and is one of my favorite guns. I also bought the 12 gram co2 adapter and found if I keep one spent co2 in the adapter I can use just one co2 at a time if I just want to get off a few rounds . Also I chronyed it at an average of just about exactly 660fps with 11.9 grain RWS Hobby pellets so power is quite good for a co2 gun .
@slowride55 Yeah I'm not sure if it is new or that I've just never noticed it before.. but it is their SCP3-1564L1 model. It has the most forgiving eye relief at 1.5x and is amazingly useful out to 100+ yards even at 1.5x.. when you crank it to 6x it is still awesome. It has the etched glass red/green illuminated reticule and a 30mm tube. My wife, who is not a gun person although she's not afraid to pick one up and fire a few rounds, LOVES this scope because it is so easy to use. Rick
@enzoG96 Depends on the gun.. this one does not leak.. the 2250xt that I tested does.. it is a real downer to spend $7 bucks on a co2, shoot it for a while.. come back it it be empty. I have a solution to that problem however.. stay tuned! Rick
@slowride55 Oh sure.. I'm working with leapers to outfit my Ruger 10/22.. that will be another video on another channel for another day. I have many firearms. I started shooting airguns so that I could save money on ammo and gas driving to the range. What I found is that I like airguns more than firearms. I may be an odd duck that way, but I'm finding that a lot of folks feel the same way. Cheers Rick
@drummerboy7816 The 4-16 has very little adjustment.. so I'd sight the scope at 20 yards and then use the mil-dots to adjust for shooting closer. (You may need to aim 1 or 2 dots high at 10 yards). The only other solution would be to get a mount that has a higher rear post, commonly used to adjust for barrel droop. I've found this issue a lot with the 4-16. Cheers Rick
The fpe is about the same. When using the adapter, it pierces both at the same time when it is screwed in. The rifle runs on both of them until they are empty. Cheers, AGW
@RunicArvid98 When you use the small adapter it works very well. You can put it in a take it out as necessary. You'll get about 60 shots from it. It uses both cartridges at the same time when you use it. Rick
@RunicArvid98 I'm not sure on the wood version.. I bet it is beautiful. The composite is very, very nice.. it makes for a nice shooting, lightweight rifle.. I love it. Rick
The Hammerli 850 is a very good bolt action Co2 rifle. Some consider it one of the best Co2 rifles made. The MTR77 is a very good fun rifle to shoot. If I am serious about my target shooting, I get the Hammerli 850. They both are very good rifles. Cheers, AGW
Rick, your reviews continue to get better and better (they were great to start). I enjoyed watching your review. It was a gun I will never buy but it was entertaining and informative.
@slowride55 Oh yeah.. Weaver on top, with a new 30mm tube 1.5-6x44 Etched glass CQB scope with IR (AWESOME!). Up front I have a tri-rail barrel mount with a laser and Leapers LED 100+ yard tactical light... On the rifle sling mount I have their compact bi-pod. My 10/22 is fitted into a lightweight stock that really works for me. This is my new coyote killer for our ranch in TX.. let em come... Rick
many people convert it to run on high pressure air and there are some valve mods as well. I'm not sure how they work. I'm happy with the gun as it is. Cheers Rick
@enzoG96 Low velocity.. the guy who has ALL the data on CO2 performance is Steven Archer of Archer Airguns.. check out his stuff.. He has some great velocity curve stuff (I've seen it somewhere) that will give you an idea of that kind of issues you my run into. Cheers Rick
I would go with the H&N Field Target Trophy. If you are after small game, I would use this pellet. Those that have hunted with this pellet highly recommend it. Cheers, AGW
i know that everyone is going to say that this wasnt humane but a while back i shot a opossum in my backyard with a crosman 1377 witch is about 4-5 fpe i hit it thru the ears at twenty yards so that shows with an accurate gun like the 850 with a well placed shot it can be used up to about 50 yards
Wow Rick, that last shot group was unreal! I had no idea a CO2 gun could have that sort of accuracy. Do you think it could hold 1/4 inch groups at 20 yards? Sure looks like it could to me. Great review by the way. Your reviews just keep getting better and better.
@Zhengyis There are airguns for every purpose.. This airgun is for target practice at 10 and 20 yards.. not hunting. It would be like saying that "man that toyota prius sure doesn't have any towing capacity.. " There are some airguns that have over 300 foot pounds of energy.. you have to get the right tool for the job. cheers Rick
@luisairguner So the audio is a little too hot you say? I'll try and tone it down for my next video. I should be shooting tomorrow. I use a lapel mic directly into the camera so it may have gotten bumped just a bit. Thanks for the help! Rick
I have the .22 version, a formidable rifle! I recommend these pellets: RWS Superdome 14.5 gr dome ProShot Precision 14.3 gr dome H&N Diabolo Sport H&N Field Target Trophy 14.66 gr Predator Polymag SHORTS 15.75 gr pointed JSB Diabolo Exact Jumbo Express 14.3 gr dome Crosman Field Hunting 14.3 gr pointed. Happy & safe shooting in 2018 !
@enzoG96 I lived in Vermont for about 12 years.. For 2 months in the Summer it would be great!.. Look into a gas ram gun like the Benjamin Trail NP. It will handle the weather better. Rick
Great job in the review! I have the same setup but with the 4-16x50 leaper scope, I'm having trouble zeroing the scope at 10 yards.. My crosshairs don't get low enough even if I adjust the vertical knob all the way.. Could that be due to the 50 objective lens vs 40?
@BENJItrailNPxL1100 I don't really know how many I have.. (isn't that sad!) I've got about 18 or 19 here in AZ and more in TX at our ranch. My favorite is my Benjamin Marauder in .22.. For a break barrel, I really like my Benjamin Trail, for an underlever.. the TX200 for sure. Cheers! Rick
@AirGunWeb Could you try to review some classic airguns? Like the crosman 760 pumpmaster and/or the daisy 880? Lol I like seeing reviews on nice expensive guns like the R9 but it's nice to see affordable plinkers too :D
If you want a good plinker and rodent control rifle, go with the MTR77. If you want a good target shooting Co2 rifle go with the Hammerli 850. Cheers, AGW
@cronos222 i have the 177, and i shoot the crosman 10.5gr with 90gr c02, i can shoot sparrows @ 35+yards 4/5 shots! and i can hit cans 3/5 shots @ 65yards! i shoot these pellets at about 660fps as well and the crosman destroyers at 740fps, these are the two best pellets i have shot with this gun, the destroyers are only for shooting under 35yards or the speed drops way down.
Rick, you write all the music and play the music for your soundtracks to your video reviews? If so that song you are playing in the video toward the end is great!
@TASTY20INCH Yep.. will have 2 more before the end of the month hopefully too! If things continue as I hope.. we should now have 3 videos per month. So stay tuned! Cheers! Rick
You'll need to test it on a chrony. I'm not really sure of the specifics. You can go too low and too high. Either way will cause adverse affects to the performance. Rick
@AirGunWeb Nice, about how much does it cost? I bought a Barska 3-9x32 for my Daisy 880 on amazon and i absolutely love it! Its very clear and still maintains its clearness even on power 9. It was only 40 bucks and it came with rings!!!
Question: Is it feasible for an individual that prefers a higher Velocity, but still wants some decent energy/knock-down force, choose the .177 Caliber Hammerli 850 Air-Magnum and use in conjunction with something like the following...H&N Filed Target Trophy 8.64g, Domed or the H&N Round Nose, 10.65g? Hi Airgunweb, really thinking of getting this Gun, but i want Wood stock. Now iv'e found the 850 A.m in the hunter version, but that one is a little bit hevvier, and i'm really wanting à rifle that i can shoot With well when standing up. Sry 4 the english, Great videos btw, :)
+Tim inman Inman - owning both guns.. I prefer the Hammerli.. While I like to tinker.. I often find that doing so gains in one area and looses in others. the Hammerli 850 is a great gun with great accuracy and build quality. Cheers AGW
Should I get this or the MTR77 from crosman? I'm thinking of this because of the accuracy and the bolt action. I'm thinking of the MTR77 because of the power and because it looks cool and is cheaper. Can someone give me good arguments for one of them? Awesome review BTW :) Can someone give me good argumen
it's a nice gun, shoots real fine, the 88 gm CO2's are expensive, $13 each for 200 shots? you're looking at almost $0.07 a shot for the air, then add the pellet, if you buy 12gram CO2 and the adapter, it'll pay off over time when you buy bulk CO2. if they could make a break barrel or a side pump, with or without nitro, add $100 to the price, that would be a better deal. you'd get less noise with a thompson center rifle shooting super colibris and more energy, with the same accuracy.
Thanks for the prompt reply! Question: I've got some Gamo 9.6g .177 Rocket Pellets. Do you think that they might be to long for the Cartridge in the H-850 Air-Magnum, or any other "like" Clip/Magazine for that matter? Thanks!:)
@zae333

Just a note.
.2" ctc is only 5mm ctc.. and the 2nd group, .104" is only 2.66mm
The groups may look large because I was zoomed in.
cheers.

That data is clearly stated in the video in the performance and in the accuracy section. ~Cheers, Rick
Generally spring guns give you more power than c02. They take more practice to shoot well, but deliver the most power per dollar.
Cheers
Rick
The stock is composite.. very nice composite.. not "plastic" or cheap feeling.
Cheers
Rick
This is a really nice co2 airgun.
I used this gun with a Walther 3-9x44 scope.
@enzoG96
Thank you for the complements!
Rick
@AirGunWeb I'll look into that one, thanks! Looking to get a .22 Marauder next, love your reviews on those too!

@TASTY20INCH
Thank you for the kind words.. I've invested a lot of time and energy working to become better and better.
Thanks again.

My pleasure!

@DSB651
I've got a video that will be out later this month on installing and sighting a scope.. Stay tuned!
Rick
I would go with the H&N Field Target Trophy. If you are after small game, I would use this pellet. Those that have hunted with this pellet highly recommend it.
Cheers,
AGW
@slowride55
This one is a bit more than $40.. It will run about $95 from PyramydAir. But it is a great scope. I may get one for my AR.
Rick
The 490 is not too bad.. also consider the Air Venturi Bronco.
Cheers
Rick
I'll be looking out for that one!! Great videos very informative and greatly appreciated!!
@slowride55
they have there place.. when you need quick acquisition over long range accuracy.. then they are the right choice.
Rick
I'll get with UmarexUSA about looking at one. Hot weather's coming up so it would be a good time for shooting indoors.
Cheers
Rick

Some have it..some don't.. it was something that I was trying out.. seemed 50/50 on like/dislike... so I opted to drop it on the new stuff.
Rick

@MisterWittur
You can go to PyramydAir's site and look up foot pounds calculator. You can enter the data on the video and get the joules.
Cheers
Rick
@slowride55
You got it.. I'll try and work some of those in..
Cheers
Rick
I may get to that some day.. It is not something that I can get my hands on right now.
Cheers
Rick
The co2 version is quieter for sure.. Did I get the question right?
Rick
I believe that is a recording.
Cheers,
AGW
@Zhengyis
There are airguns for every purpose.. This airgun is for target practice at 10 and 20 yards.. not hunting. It would be like saying that "man that toyota prius sure doesn't have any towing capacity.. " There are some airguns that have over 300 foot pounds of energy.. you have to get the right tool for the job.
cheers
Rick
@luisairguner
So the audio is a little too hot you say? I'll try and tone it down for my next video. I should be shooting tomorrow. I use a lapel mic directly into the camera so it may have gotten bumped just a bit.
Thanks for the help!
Rick
Thanks, the reason is because i love the look, and the appeal, i just want something exactly the same but 12ft/lbs for hunting.
finally a GOOD Crosman air gun. The Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk Air Rifle. You Should Defiently make a review on it!
you should be able to get close to that with co2 if you mod the valve.. but I'm just guessing.
Rick
Getting one in the next couple of days I have ordered a Walther adapter to hold 2 12g CO2 canisters for £55 including delivery from Germany
I have the .22 version, a formidable rifle! I recommend these pellets:
RWS Superdome 14.5 gr dome
ProShot Precision 14.3 gr dome
H&N Diabolo Sport
H&N Field Target Trophy 14.66 gr
Predator Polymag SHORTS 15.75 gr pointed
JSB Diabolo Exact Jumbo Express 14.3 gr dome
Crosman Field Hunting 14.3 gr pointed.
Happy & safe shooting in 2018 !
@yogstar7
I've heard of one.. but not seen it.
Rick
Ok thanks for the info. Keep up the good work!
@enzoG96
I lived in Vermont for about 12 years.. For 2 months in the Summer it would be great!.. Look into a gas ram gun like the Benjamin Trail NP. It will handle the weather better.
Rick
I would try some of the H&N or the Beeman lead free pellets.
Cheers,
AGW
Great job in the review!
I have the same setup but with the 4-16x50 leaper scope, I'm having trouble zeroing the scope at 10 yards.. My crosshairs don't get low enough even if I adjust the vertical knob all the way.. Could that be due to the 50 objective lens vs 40?
@slowride55
20 and 55 rd clips with cci mini-mags... :)
Rick
@BENJItrailNPxL1100
I don't really know how many I have.. (isn't that sad!) I've got about 18 or 19 here in AZ and more in TX at our ranch. My favorite is my Benjamin Marauder in .22.. For a break barrel, I really like my Benjamin Trail, for an underlever.. the TX200 for sure.
Cheers!
Rick
@enzoG96
I would imagine that once you get below 50 degrees you're going to have issues.
Rick
@AirGunWeb Could you try to review some classic airguns? Like the crosman 760 pumpmaster and/or the daisy 880? Lol I like seeing reviews on nice expensive guns like the R9 but it's nice to see affordable plinkers too :D
@AirGunWeb Nice!! Lol you getter get some pretty hot rounds for coyote, my friend hunts coyote with his .243!
If you want a good plinker and rodent control rifle, go with the MTR77. If you want a good target shooting Co2 rifle go with the Hammerli 850.
Cheers,
AGW
@cronos222 i have the 177, and i shoot the crosman 10.5gr with 90gr c02, i can shoot sparrows @ 35+yards 4/5 shots! and i can hit cans 3/5 shots @ 65yards! i shoot these pellets at about 660fps as well and the crosman destroyers at 740fps, these are the two best pellets i have shot with this gun, the destroyers are only for shooting under 35yards or the speed drops way down.
@drummerboy7816
I really like the 3-12x40 AO, MD, IR scope from leapers.. really nice scope.
Rick
Rick, you write all the music and play the music for your soundtracks to your video reviews? If so that song you are playing in the video toward the end is great!
@TASTY20INCH
Yep.. will have 2 more before the end of the month hopefully too! If things continue as I hope.. we should now have 3 videos per month. So stay tuned!
Cheers!
Rick
maybe one day!
Rick
@AirGunWeb Thanks for insight!
What scope would you suggest for this rifle for 10 - 20 yard?
@nuaimy
same gun but in co2..
Rick
You'll need to test it on a chrony. I'm not really sure of the specifics. You can go too low and too high. Either way will cause adverse affects to the performance.
Rick
@AirGunWeb Yup. Whats your opinion on red dot scopes? Do you like them?
@AirGunWeb Nice, about how much does it cost? I bought a Barska 3-9x32 for my Daisy 880 on amazon and i absolutely love it! Its very clear and still maintains its clearness even on power 9. It was only 40 bucks and it came with rings!!!
@rossdaboss10001
I've been waiting for it to come out.. it is on my short list.
cheers
Rick
@AirGunWeb Nice..but you still can't beat a classic 10/22 :D are you going to use the weaver rail?
Question: Is it feasible for an individual that prefers a higher Velocity, but still wants some decent energy/knock-down force, choose the .177 Caliber Hammerli 850 Air-Magnum and use in conjunction with something like the following...H&N Filed Target Trophy 8.64g, Domed or the H&N Round Nose, 10.65g? I prefer prefer a Domed Pellet, What would you recommend to a fellow South Carolinian? Thanks!
Hello...I just ordered the hammerli 850 in .22 cal. from Pyramdair!! Any plans for a review for the 22. cal version??
Thanks!
Thanks Rick! Great advice. In your experience, what scope would you suggest for 10-20 yards under $80?
@AirGunWeb awesome. is that a leapers scope?

I'm new to air guns and when you say you prefer a more powerful airgun what gives more power, a spring?
You should do a review on the Weihrauch HW100 !
Do I have to use the artillery hold when shootin this rifle? Plz respond fast thanks
Hi rick, i was wondering a little bit about the co2 adapter. If i put 2 in it does that mean i have to change the second one forvard after about 35 shots?
Do I see some Federal .22lr rounds on top of the shelf? You have a .22?
You really need to go to pcp.. this may do well out to 25 yards max.
Rick
hey rick, do you think this gun will shoot accurate in either caliber at 60 yards or do i have to move up to a pcp gun. also we both like the np trail rifle and there is a np pistol coming out soon so please review when you get a chance. thanks!

I'm going to be putting a Bushnell trophy xlt scope on mine soon. Will this work? What mounts will work? I'm new to all of this.
Whats the4 fps on it? and would it be good for small birds ?
would you rather have this or a qb78 because I know the qb78 you can do a lot of modifications to make it shoot harder then 9 foot pounds
+Tim inman Inman - owning both guns.. I prefer the Hammerli.. While I like to tinker.. I often find that doing so gains in one area and looses in others. the Hammerli 850 is a great gun with great accuracy and build quality.
Cheers
AGW
VEry good replay.
It is the same gun.
Cheers
Rick
Will that 12gram co2 adapter work with the gamo co2 extreme?
Should I get this or the MTR77 from crosman?
I'm thinking of this because of the accuracy and the bolt action.
I'm thinking of the MTR77 because of the power and because it looks cool and is cheaper.
Can someone give me good arguments for one of them?
Awesome review BTW :)
Can someone give me good argumen
im looking at the hammerli 490 for a beginner airgun for my kids (5 and 8 yrs old), any thoughts on this model ? great reviews rick =)
it's a nice gun, shoots real fine, the 88 gm CO2's are expensive, $13 each for 200 shots? you're looking at almost $0.07 a shot for the air, then add the pellet, if you buy 12gram CO2 and the adapter, it'll pay off over time when you buy bulk CO2. if they could make a break barrel or a side pump, with or without nitro, add $100 to the price, that would be a better deal. you'd get less noise with a thompson center rifle shooting super colibris and more energy, with the same accuracy.
Thanks for the prompt reply! Question: I've got some Gamo 9.6g .177 Rocket Pellets. Do you think that they might be to long for the Cartridge in the H-850 Air-Magnum, or any other "like" Clip/Magazine for that matter? Thanks!:)
