    I've been following you Ben for a few years now, from when I was a FB ads noob. At this point I dpn't need any help really or adivce, but still follow you just to confirm that we are on the same page about stuff lol. This tip about local service businesses was the most useful one I got from you, half a year ago I got rid of all my ecom customers and niched down on a specific local service niche, best decision ever. Thanks for that.

    Hi Ben. Great video and great idea too! I have 3 questions:
    1. when in your view does a service cross over into a product-based business? I.e is tiling still a service? Is carpet-fitting? Is window installation? In these cases the tradesperson is actually supplying a product so do these trades still fit the model?
    2. would you set up a contract between yourself and the tradesperson and also with the client? Especially WRT to payment terms
    3. how do you (re)present yourself, especially on the business FB page you'd run the ads from? I mean by that would you set up a company and advertise as for example Heath Home Services?
    Many thanks

      @davidworthington9058 Did you get a reply? I think you make a valid point! The contract would be between the client and yourself, so if the workman did a bad job, you would be liable. Did you pursue the idea?

    Simple, easy to follow video. Thank you.
    My only question is, service based businesses often provide the quote verbally onsite, then send the formal quote later that day.
    How do you stop the business/person from providing that verbal quote or undercutting you given that they'll need to know you're marking up the price?

    • @VicLeonTV
      @VicLeonTV 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My thoughts exactly. Man I wish Ben would answer you.
      Also, how would you pose as the company when sending the quote to the customer? Get an email address with the company domain or just do it all over the phone so you don’t have to get a domain email?

    • @troymountford3161
      @troymountford3161 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The cleanest way would be for each service provider that you're working with to say, "I use a centralised quoting system, so the quote will come from [your email address]".

    • @troymountford3161
      @troymountford3161 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So they would have to send you the quote on their letterhead, you edit that document, then send it to the client.

    • @troymountford3161
      @troymountford3161 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Or if they know you're making up, they'd simply quote with your markup so you can simply forward it in.

    Hey Ben.
    2 Questions...
    1. How much questions should we ask in instant lead form to get high-quality leads??
    2. The audience for local businesses will be less while targeting, so what's the solution?

    • @BenHeath

      1) That's something you can experiment with to some extent. I would start with the basic contact info

Or do I create my own business page, (say Marketing for Plasterers) for example and run the ads from there? Are people likely to fill out a lead form for a brand new page with no content? Or if it is on the clients page, how does ad payment work? Thank you for your time. Grant.

    Ben, I have followed both your channels for a while and they are full of amazing value and insights but this is drop servicing and it is a little sketchy in its efficiency, due to several areas. I checked this out a while back when it first came to the fore as an online service business model.
    I know you keep referencing the common way of operating for service contractors but what happens when the guy or gal turning up to give the quote has their own business signage plastered all over their van and it doesn't match your business branding. The way of operating for contractors ( subcontracting ) may be familiar to them but it is not so much to the general public when they expect a different company to turn up and give the quote. There is a sudden loss of trust that they are not dealing with the person or comapny they spoke to on the phone. I would ask why they are there and not the other company in the ad. Are you going to say they wont remeber the original comapny name?
    Then, first thing I would think if I received the quote from you rather than them would be to ring the person who gave the quote to get a better price and cut out the middleman. Perhaps Im being cynical. I know you are going to say they won't give a lower quote because of losing the leads but If a contractor is not getting any clients because you are effectively pricing them out of the job with your markup then they won't be bothered about getting the leads anyway. You might have to find the cheapest business out there to allow for the margins.
    I would also be very concerned about the markup percentage. Price drives sales and most people will get two or three quotes which leads to another issue of what if they have contacted the contractor direct for an alternative quote, not knowing they are your contractor. I assume the contractor would know they had already quoted and it is an awkward loss of business when you have to explain to the customer you can't give them a quote after you previously promised on the phone. You will probably want to generate reviews for your business and that wont help.
    There is a lot of hassle back and forth making sure the contractor is available on a given date as the dates will constantly change when they are booking in more jobs etc. You have to rely on the contractor turning up for the quote on time and lots of other stuff out of your control.
    Insurance is a factor, so is the guarantee. Not completed on time don't pay. HMMM, your contractor is going to have to be sure of that one. Make sure you have your back covered for all eventualities, you are liable to the customer and the contractor. The customer is dealing with your brand / business. The contractor has no liabilites to the customer - you have to cover that unless you can get the contractor to sign an agreement regarding liability responsibility. Even then it can get awkward with insurance companies and you may need to pay the customer and claim it back from the contractor.
    If you are making 2000 - 3000 per job you don't need to close many but would you close any at all with that kind of markup.
    Are you relying on the guarantee in the ad to secure the job? If so, it's going to have to be some unbelievable gurantee to justify a 50% markup. As I wrote before, price drives sales, and you are relying on the contractor to present themselves as a genuine, trustworthy and quality proposition to justify that price.
    I have done similar to this with a company BUT, I supplied the leads to them and they gave the quote direct. I got XX% of the value of the sale. First off, I had to trust they would report all sales and correct value to me for invoicing which fortunately seems to work OK but it could easily be manipulated from their side if they so wished. At least this way they remained competitive on their pricing and my fee / commission could be justified against their cost to aquire a customer on a sliding value scale when compared to the value of the sale.
    I am also dependant on their closing ability when they give the quote, their follow up etc. Some jobs don't make great profits and others are OK, it balances out but can affect finances when having to bootstrap the ad spend. I can generate quite a few low paying jobs before a significant one hits. Its all the same service, just the size and complexity of the job differs.
    Is it profitable - yes, BUT I don't do it with other companies because of the operational headaches. I don't find it massively scaleable due to income inconsistencies.
    I prefer to run lead gen, either with customer paying ad spend or myself. I have guarantees in place and they purchase lead quantities up front so my operational costs are covered, Im also not dependant on factors beyond my control such as their sales ability etc.
    Not trying to put a dampener on your content Ben, but there is a lot more to the model you have suggested than is covered in the video, as good as it is. It can work but be prepared for a lot of hassle. Be prepared to learn a little about the industry you are doing, you will get questions on the phone call that can make or break a potential quote opportunity and if you don't know certain things about your industry and contractor, you may lose out.
    Making the big lump sums of cash may sound great but I can easily offset that with a more scaleable business that is easier to operate, at least for me.
    Keep up the great content Ben, love the channels.

    Interesting idea. I'm uncertain about a few things. Such as, would I be branding my own Facebook page as a 'plaster management company' or a 'plastering company'? If I'm my own plastering company and I refer out the work, and another business shows up at the clients door to do the quote they would be a little confused. How do you manage that relationship? I understand the real plastering company has an incentive not to screw me over, but how do you avoid the customer finding out they're being up charged? Such as in the case the company does typically provide general quotes on-site at the time of inspection. Would you make it a requirement to avoid doing so for any leads you provide, and to let you provide the quote over the phone after the inspection is done?

    So the plasterer sends the quote over to you and then you pay the plasterer when you get the payment from the client?

Been wondering if this would work if you partnered up with a company, offering to do everything, website, ads, ad-spend, nurture leads, etc.. they only thing the contractors should do is meet up and look at the project. Then contact me with their price, I’ll put my fee on top of it and then send it back to the contractor which will send it to the customer. That way, I don’t need any insurance or a license. However, there’s a higher risk that the contractor will go around me when they are the ones who are sending the final quote to the customer, or would it be possible?

    Ben, your connect is amazing! Questions about duplicating campaigns. Do any of the "learnings" from the original campaign carry over to the new duplicate campaign? I ask because we changed up our website structure a bit due to finding out that our FB conversions were being triggered when they shouldn't have. We've since fixed this. Our current campaign then used these faulty conversion triggers in the learning phase.

      @@BenHeath Yes Almost clear!
      Do I have to be on site of the project? After i give leads to my Client ( service provider)
      I just wanted to say that I haven't talked to the customers to check if they could be a potential customer
      All I do is give those leads to my client and ask for feedback ! And i feel they give sometime wrong feedback.
      So lets suppose i got a lead
      1. I should call the lead to see if they are customer
      2. Give the information to the client ( service provider)
      3. Ask for the payment in advance before providing the lead.
      Please correct me if I'm wrong
      And you have my respect ❤️ 😃

    Pretty much similar to Drop Servicing, ain’t it?

    Hey Ben, with regards to the quoting, wouldn't most potential customers prefer to know on the spot how much it would be?
    And out of fear, wouldn't the plasterer or whichever niche want to reduce the price as much as possible to get the deal over the line?
    Sorry if these are silly limiting beliefs, just curious. Thanks

      You have identified them perfectly there - silly limiting beliefs. I’m also guessing you haven’t hired many tradespeople? They almost never give a quote on the spot anyway. So receiving a quote after the meeting won’t be a problem at all.
      And no - most will have fairly formulaic ways of calculating cost, they won’t want to cut their own earnings unnecessarily.
      I’m not wanting this to come across as harsh. I just see so many people not move forward because of concerns like this that just aren’t real or can be very easily overcome.

      @@BenHeath Not harsh at all, it’s good to get an experienced perspective.
      I’m very new, started a couple of moths ago doing solar. I was doing the traditional ‘we bring you leads and you pay for the leads’ route. Your way seems so much more exciting and scaleable.

    My only concern is this. Whoever goes there to give the quote will just give them the quote and undercut you

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, that would be very silly on their part as they will do themselves out of future business. Just tell them to send you the quote.
      The whole home services industry operates on subcontracting, so this is very much expected.

    Hey Ben, should we the fb ads guy follow up with the leads or it should be done by clients?

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  ปีที่แล้ว

      With this model, you want to handle all the sales side of things. So you want to be the one following up.

      @Ben Heath Even the 25% markup? I have never heard of that pricing model for solar marketing. Not saying it wouldn't work, but it would at least probably need to be a little less than 50% (bc 50% is like 40k)
