Oh well, I guess I should at least address it, as what's presented in the video is far from what happened in reality. The beauty of TH-cam, everyone... First things first, thank you to everyone for all the supporting comments (even if a couple were a little less so). To be honest, I'm quite surprised by this video myself, as one: that's not the deal we've had, two: they were actually quite friendly in person, we've had quite an enjoyable chat, including discussing some British panel shows I've been watching when they arrived (I would assume that's why the TV is blurred - for copyright reasons). However to set the facts straight: 1. I admit my flat was not in the best condition. They knew it. They've been warned beforehand, I had my hosting status as "maybe" partly because of that. And I did encourage them to try and find a different host, as mine was not truly ready for guests, but I would still be willing if I'm the only option. 2. I agreed to host them mostly because the feel of the whole piece was supposed to be (as it was described to me) showing the absurdity of British food prices (and presenting couchsurfing as a viable option for staying if you want to do it on the cheap). 3. As some have guessed, by they time they arrived at my place, it was already agreed they would not be staying - however the reason was never some fake "family emergency". I wonder how much of it is true, but the story that was given to me was that they managed to switch to a flight the same day (I was even given an exact hour of the flight, so it might have actually been true - not sure about the hostel scene though). 4. They did however film several variants of the story, one being "we found a better flight, but we could have stayed here, if we didn't" that I was told, and they even prepared a version where they pretended to go to sleep after all (which was the most prevailing variant for most of the time - one of the reasons why I don't really speak much on camera is not just because of how they cut it, but I just didn't want to take much part in the "fake stay" version - I'm neither good nor comfortable with lying). To be honest, if they presented either of those variants, I'd probably be fine and would have left the topic alone. But I'm not comfortable with the way it got presented in the end, as this is not what we agreed upon. Somehow I'm not surprised that in the end I didn't get a message from them when the video went up. So do with it what you like, but judging from the bit including me, I'm starting to wonder how much of the rest is also a fabrication.
So sorry you've been used like this. Even if your flat was not in the best condition, as you said, they HAVE been warned about it. And the fact that they didn't even message you before the video went up is something I can't fathom. I hope you never experience this kind of people in your life again, you seem to be such kind and genuine person, you did not deserve such treatment. And although I'm from Poland too I feel secondhand embarrassment for these 2 guys.

The disrespect towards the city’s goat tradition and calling Polish currency “monopoly money” was enough to rub me the wrong way. But then seeing the way you guys portrayed Jakob in this video was genuinely hurtful to a man kind enough to offer you a roof over your head for the night. Couch surfing is a great resource for travelers on a budget and definitely not known for being luxurious! And the food waste made me cringe as well, you could’ve just done the math instead of spoiling a whole trolley of food. Really not impressed this time

You know he's 100% going to see this right. You could've just cut that portion of the video out if that's uncomfortable for you instead of making fun of the guy who offered you hospitality for free. Very disappointing treatment of the man that opened his home to you. As others have said, you were aware of what you were getting into. Feeling uncomfortable staying there is fine, but to frame the man in such poor light and mock his living situation is genuinely repulsive.
Well, the money aspect was educative, but the real lesson this video is giving us is the answer to a question "why British visitors to Poland are generally perceived by locals as utter, obnoxious wankers". If that was a real goal of this video then congratulations, job well done!

Archie comes across as entitled and ungrateful. His inability to try to pronounce the Polish currency and general snobbish attitude helps paint British people in a negative light to foreigners. Small correction, as someone living in Poznan too: it WOULD be a great place to live if it wasn't for the constant construction (everything being renovated and modernized at once, at that). But I guess we have our city's mayor and Town Hall's administrative staff to thank for that. Otherwise I agree, the people themselves are alright.

I get why you wouldn’t want to stay somewhere you’re uncomfortable, that’s fair. But as the content creators you have the ability to tell the story in any way you want to, yet you chose the negative angle where you just complained about someone’s house and published it on the internet, probably making them quite embarrassed. There were so many other ways you could have told that part but this was not cool.
I think they could have handled the situation better too. Saying it's "absolutely brilliant" to his face and then walking out the room and giggling about how you can't stay in there is really immature and disrespectful, especially after someone has invited you to stay in their home for free. I was born and raised in Poznan but my boyfriend is Brit, and I was so happy to show him my culture, traditions and beloved city. It was a great feeling to see him enjoying and liking everything about it… I’m not saying u have to love everything about it but you should still act with respect especially to a person that was willing to have you under his roof…all you did was just humiliating yourself and as the video went viral lots of people will see how disgusting and disrespectful you both are… you should be soo ashamed of your behavior…

I used to work at a bar, there was no worse feeling than when a group of British tourists would come in… straight away they’d harass my college, throwing up, everything. Then I travelled to England thinking if this is how they act it must be a wonderful place, I went to liverpool to watch football and I have never seen a more disgusting country devoid of culture. There is also an imperial castle in Poznań. It is strange that such distinguished guests were not offered free accommodation there. Along with that bag of ruined food.
Shame, the dungeon part of the castle is no loger in use. Pity. But in the oldest part of the city there are the foundations of the old palatium. Certainly, such distinguished guests will not despise the former chamber of the first ruler of Poland and his son - the first king. I’ve been an avid viewer of this channel since the early days and have always thought the videos you both released were genius. On the contrary, this one made me feel actually quite sad. The hospitality shown to you by Jacub was from the heart and couch surfing hosts are renowned for their kindness. This video paints Archie in such a bad light as a condescending, stuck up brat. It’s put me off the channel.
Złoty ( PLN) holds its value against GBP for over a decade ish but Poles earnings since 2008 almost triple when Brits earnings increased by only 30-40% on average. Currently Poles earnings are roughly about half of what workers in UK earn. Minimum wage 2023 - 4300zl 28zl per hour something about 5.80£ but hgv driver can easily earn 10k after tax PLN a month good money in the construction to. Personal tax allowance is currently at 30k PLN in Poland and went up by 10x since 2008 in the UK 2.5x. Couples do have joint tax return and child benefit is currently about 25% highier then in the UK..There's no council tax but there is property tax that for large 170sq m 4bed house that sits on 1/2 acre plot of land cost about 300GBP annually. Car insurance insure the car not the driver so under one policy anyone can drive it and is somewhere 30% what you would pay in the UK. 20£ (100pln) monthly bus pass. Petrol E10 when in the UK cost 1.5£ a litre in Poland is for about 1.25£ for E5 ( they don't have E10 yet) and Road Tax is included in the cost of fuel as well as taxes and fuel duty they don't pay Road tax seperatly. Poles own their homes. Even amongst the lowest earners 85% of them own their own home. Housing rental market is one of the smallest in the EU. Hope that draw some perspective.
I'm form Poznań and trust me, there is much more to our city than just being "the cheapest place to go in Europe". But obviously you need to be a more cultured person that both of you are to appreciate and find that. You embarassed yourself completely.

I never usually comment on anything but I was excited about the highlighting of the cost of living crisis but you disrespecting the man who opened his home to you is really shocking and gross, to be honest.
There are plenty of ways to execute an outside-the-box video concept without punching down on someone trying to do a nice thing. Archie is a prat and Josh comes across as the lackey all too happy to play along. Take some Tylenol for the headache this will cause in the morning.
It was very hard to watch. I'm glad I don't have friends from the UK. I lived there for several years and unfortunately I also have similar experiences with young British people. Ignorance and arrogance - a difficult mix to endure if you want to be polite towards people. Jakob- you probably didn't plan to make a career on TH-cam, but you became one because of these morons. You are the only positive character in this movie. ❤️

I really like your videos most of the time gentlemen, but you did kinda come across as dicks in this one. I'm really hoping against hope that it was a "Bit" with Jakub in on and part of the joke, however, if it was, that's some of the most convincing acting I've ever seen. Not sure I buy that though. you might've been going for the good old "Jeremy Clarkson spoiled moaning old fart" routine, but honestly there's a fine line between funny and just insulting, and this kinda stamped all over it. First things first, thank you to everyone for all the supporting comments (even if a couple were a little less so).
To be honest, I'm quite surprised by this video myself, as one: that's not the deal we've had, two: they were actually quite friendly in person, we've had quite an enjoyable chat, including discussing some British panel shows I've been watching when they arrived (I would assume that's why the TV is blurred - for copyright reasons).
However to set the facts straight:
1. I admit my flat was not in the best condition. They knew it. They've been warned beforehand, I had my hosting status as "maybe" partly because of that. And I did encourage them to try and find a different host, as mine was not truly ready for guests, but I would still be willing if I'm the only option.
2. I agreed to host them mostly because the feel of the whole piece was supposed to be (as it was described to me) showing the absurdity of British food prices (and presenting couchsurfing as a viable option for staying if you want to do it on the cheap).
3. As some have guessed, by they time they arrived at my place, it was already agreed they would not be staying - however the reason was never some fake "family emergency". I wonder how much of it is true, but the story that was given to me was that they managed to switch to a flight the same day (I was even given an exact hour of the flight, so it might have actually been true - not sure about the hostel scene though).
4. They did however film several variants of the story, one being "we found a better flight, but we could have stayed here, if we didn't" that I was told, and they even prepared a version where they pretended to go to sleep after all (which was the most prevailing variant for most of the time - one of the reasons why I don't really speak much on camera is not just because of how they cut it, but I just didn't want to take much part in the "fake stay" version - I'm neither good nor comfortable with lying).
To be honest, if they presented either of those variants, I'd probably be fine and would have left the topic alone. But I'm not comfortable with the way it got presented in the end, as this is not what we agreed upon. Somehow I'm not surprised that in the end I didn't get a message from them when the video went up.
So do with it what you like, but judging from the bit including me, I'm starting to wonder how much of the rest is also a fabrication.

The disrespect towards the city’s goat tradition and calling Polish currency “monopoly money” was enough to rub me the wrong way. But then seeing the way you guys portrayed Jakob in this video was genuinely hurtful to a man kind enough to offer you a roof over your head for the night. Couch surfing is a great resource for travelers on a budget and definitely not known for being luxurious! And the food waste made me cringe as well, you could’ve just done the math instead of spoiling a whole trolley of food. Really not impressed this time

I think I get the point of this video. You’re trying to point out that prices in the UK are so high that it’s actually cheaper to travel abroad. But all you’ve managed to point out is that Archie is just a pompous spoilt brat.

3. Poznan is not a big city, you can easily walk from one end to another in about two hours. Walking around the center and complaining how bad your legs hurt? Owszem za 1 funta nie kupi się tylu samo rzeczy, co 10 lat temu - z tym, że 10 lat temu najniższa krajowa w Anglii wynosiła 6,19 funta na godzinę (wiem, bo sama wtedy w UK mieszkałam), a teraz 10,42 funta na godzinę.
Jestem prawie pewny, że za te ''pieniądze z monopolu'' ktoś go dopadnie na mieście oferując staropolski wpierdol.
Za ulgowy przyjezd to est kara 122 zl.

I get why you wouldn’t want to stay somewhere you’re uncomfortable, that’s fair. But as the content creators you have the ability to tell the story in any way you want to, yet you chose the negative angle where you just complained about someone’s house and published it on the internet, probably making them quite embarrassed. There were so many other ways you could have told that part but this was not cool.
I think they could have handled the situation better too. Saying it's "absolutely brilliant" to his face and then walking out the room and giggling about how you can't stay in there is really immature and disrespectful, especially after someone has invited you to stay in their home for free. Maybe a few of Archie's true colours shone through in this video.

I used to work at a bar, there was no worse feeling than when a group of British tourists would come in… straight away they’d harass my college, throwing up, everything. I’ve been an avid viewer of this channel since the early days and have always thought the videos you both released were genius. On the contrary, this one made me feel actually quite sad. The hospitality shown to you by Jacub was from the heart and couch surfing hosts are renowned for their kindness. This video paints Archie in such a bad light as a condescending, stuck up brat. It’s put me off the channel.
Złoty ( PLN) holds its value against GBP for over a decade ish but Poles earnings since 2008 almost triple when Brits earnings increased by only 30-40% on average. Currently Poles earnings are roughly about half of what workers in UK earn. Minimum wage 2023 - 4300zl 28zl per hour something about 5.80£ but hgv driver can easily earn 10k after tax PLN a month good money in the construction to. Personal tax allowance is currently at 30k PLN in Poland and went up by 10x since 2008 in the UK 2.5x. Couples do have joint tax return and child benefit is currently about 25% highier then in the UK..There's no council tax but there is property tax that for large 170sq m 4bed house that sits on 1/2 acre plot of land cost about 300GBP annually. Car insurance insure the car not the driver so under one policy anyone can drive it and is somewhere 30% what you would pay in the UK. 20£ (100pln) monthly bus pass. Petrol E10 when in the UK cost 1.5£ a litre in Poland is for about 1.25£ for E5 ( they don't have E10 yet) and Road Tax is included in the cost of fuel as well as taxes and fuel duty they don't pay Road tax seperatly. Poles own their homes. Even amongst the lowest earners 85% of them own their own home. Housing rental market is one of the smallest in the EU. Hope that draw some perspective.
