First time I ever seen a rebuild without taking the seat off
these bikes u can take out the entier engine without taking a single piece of plastic off lol

Nice video Highgear!! The only thing I would recommend for next time would be to not let the bike idle to break it it. When you do that. You starve the cylinder of oil so its not the best for two strokes. You're supposed the varie the revs up and down for a while because it allows the cylinder and rings to heat up, expand, then cool back down. This is what breaks in the top end. Not a huge deal but just something to keep in mind for next time. Keep up the videos!

I got a Yamaha yz 85 built too a 112ccsuper mini it's fast ass he'll even got a pro lite piston kit by Wisco with all the goodies has a chm racing head that comes with2 head's one mx head and one school head mine is in gold you can get them in different colors gives you more compression well worth the 400 dollars I have in the heads along it can run on 110 racing gas hope you enjoy your yz there fast as hell

My yz runs mint and the powerband is so snappy and quick it takes off like a rocket

You are correct. Alot of things that made me cringe watching this. He better sell this bike fast cause that top end is not long to this world
Yeah the arrow points to the exhaust side I had it backwards at first but i flipped it around
Highgear MX I've never rebuilt one and I know that those 2 holes go on the exhaust side. Buy a owner's manual to help yourself out boss. Save time and money
Honestly feel sorry for who buys the bike next... didn’t measure bore diameter for piston and rings didn’t check piston ring gap🙄 few others could be list as well...hmm I guess you gotta learn but geez don’t do it dodgy

I think you need to add more oil to your mix, that thing doesn’t seem to be smokin’ enough. They call them 2 smokers for a reason ;) 40:1 or 38:1 is usually the best ratio to be mixing at.

I feel like I get more outta my bike than a used one I used to have an 07 yz now I have a 16 rm that was a leftover and is about 4 months old I feel like it is worth the purchase compared to buying a used bike and having lots of problems

That’s the worst thing ye can do when breaking in a engine never let them idle that why the blow up quicker your ment to drive them slowly and go through the gears for about two three tanks then ye can’t start letting it out into power band

Why dont you ever have like a wooden or metal plate under the bike....you should put all the parts on it and prevent to loose them or get them dirty

You cant hone the cylinder like that you need to get a ball flex hone its not as much stress on the nikaseal cylinder

Hello, my yz85 is leaking transmission oil out of the little breather hole under the water pump. Do you know what would cause this? thank you
my yz85 justs top running the other day i went to store to fill up after i filled up and mixed the gas the bike started idleing high then died

The yz85 is the easiest bike to rebuild ever. I can put a whole new topend in one of those in like 10 minutes.
2stroke are easy I could’ve too but me having to set the camera every 5 min is hard and takes all day

Yeah that’s what I usually do after i let it idle just to be extra safe you know cause if I just installed the piston and I get on it and ride the c-clips or anything could fall out or anything and it would make it x10 worse if I was riding it and that happen so i just take the extra steps to be sure
Na man it can overheat bc the radiators have no airflow. You'd need to put a large fan in front of the bike to be safe. But I let my bikes idle for like 5 min with some small revs. Turn off let cool. Then ride it for 10-15 min no power and just cruise, let cool down then ride and slowly start going higher in the revs

Dirtbike N00b 69 I was thinking the thing because wen you let it idle for a long time the oil dose not burn probably and starts to clog up the head+no air flow into the radiators which can make it over head he might as well run no coolent

EdgeWaterFishing yes there is. The ring has to seat properly in the cylinder otherwise it will seize the ring.
