The following is an educational video containing dramatized and animated reenactments. This documentary was based from a number of news reports and articles.

Not a lot of people know how big of an effort was put in creating this documentary -- sleepless hours, thousands of research and interviews etc. So big props to the production team for making this video. You've immortalized the SAF 44.

I've watched all three documentaries from this channel, excellent story telling and animation. I wish history teachers in the Philippines came upon these documentaries, these should be played in Philippine schools on their history classes. These ordeals should teach children and the young generation the consequences of poor judgement, selfish gains and corrupt unintelligent officials.

It's been six years already, I remember when the whole country grieved for the fallen 44. In my school, our teachers told us to write letters to the families of the victims, we put it in a box and the school will send it to them. I hope they receive mine. Until now they are still grieving over their loved ones.

in our elementary school back then We stand quietly for almost 10-20 minutes while the flag rise only at the half of the flag pole.

I actually don't like documentaries but I got addicted to your channel, your narration is just a *chef's kiss* it's easy to understand and not boring to watch
I like his accent personally. Idk something about an accent that differs from American or British English but is still more often than not grammatically correct or stylish is just cool to me, and differentiates itself from the boring typical British documentary voice. It sounds better than your typical Filipino speaking broken English, and that's coming from a Filipino.

I was looking for documentaries about serial killers and a friend recommended me this channel. The 3 documentary videos made me think that Philippine Government is full of killers that are protected by their positions. Also, made me cry and broken-hearted. Big respect for the Fallen Heroes and big respect for the survivor.
It's not that the Philippine Government are serial killers but more of a corruptive leaders that run the politics badly which resulted to bad decisions and bad consequences.

I hope Filipino teachers will play these videos in their history classes. It's very well documented and a great way to educate students about our history and even the poor actions and corruption of government officials, media, police officers but especially the great actions of our heroes.

My brother is part of this mission he is on the 43rd SAC the blocking force. He later worked in recovering the dead bodies, (10 of them are his classmates in SAF School and friends from our hometown) and the fire arms stollen by the MILF from the dead commandos. This mission is really messed up to begin with coz according to my brother, he doesn't have idea about it. He was just called a day before assigning him to be in the blocking force not knowing who the target is. Also going to Mamasapano alone is already a challenge and a long ride coz some of them even travelled from different parts of Mindanao. The assault team, Seaborne 84 even came from Bicutan, Manila. They also experience flat tires and car break downs along the way leading for the opearation to be delayed and according to him a sign of bad omen. This is second to the last operation he got involved before he left SAF.

My heart break for all the victims. I wish the one lone survivor doesn’t beat himself too much by survivor’s guilt. How traumatizing it must’ve been seeing your teammates die one by one 😞
As far as I know while this was happening, The only Survivor from the 55th SAC said in one of the news channels, that it was part of the last plan, that there should be atleast one or more remaining part of the said SAC to become the witness and so someone from the field with them can tell what really happened to all of them, I know from my heart that he didn't want to leave his team, but I also know that this plan should still be executed💔😥

It's 2024. I just finished watching "Moro" on Netflix. The film depicted the tragic loss of the SAF 44 but focused on a real-life mother's experience of losing her loved ones during the encounter, portrayed by Piolo Pascual and Baron Geisler. Directed by Brilliante Mendoza, the film told the story from the perspective of the Muslim minorities involved in the event. The film accurately shown the details of the Oplan Exodus, the setting, and the brutal encounter by the river with the 55th SAC. I highly recommend it to others who come across this comment. It was reportedly well-received in Mindanao. Because of this, I wanted to remember what really happened that time and stumbled upon this amazing documentary. (Thank you for making this.)
My heart breaks for our Fallen 44, and also for those innocent lives that were affected by the tragedy. I regret not taking interest when it happened. The lack of clear communication and coordination has led to this. I can't imagine how devastating it was.

There was i think a short docu about a guy who was separated from his squad because the apc was already full and he has to transfer to the next vehicle for the ride then his squad mate's car was hit by a landmine and they all died and he was having a survivors guilt and i think he said it never and will never fade away so i think lalan still is having ptsd and Probablt survivors guilt

Chills and tears throughout the video. Kudos to the film maker! A fallen hero of SAF 44 was from my hometown. A sculpture was erected in our town plaza, which will be remembered for ages. He was the brother of my classmate. Sending prayers and comfort to the families.

As a student myself, I find your documentaries both entertaining and educating at the same time. It shows a wholesome perspectives that open our eyes on what are the lapses that our government had done. Hoping that you would continue to make videos for us to be aware on what really happens in such circumstances. The lone survivor was one of the snipers of SAF who killed majority of the tragedy. 10 to be exact.

you'll be surprised how shitty the government is. They don't really care about giving equipment to the operations and the fucking budget for military and police use just go to the higher up's pockets most of the time leaving the lower ranks getting scraps of the budget.
Totally agreed. The communication is just absolutely horrendous. Bad communication easily leads to death, as we've seen this common theme throughout these videos.

As a Prior Us Marine living currently in the Phil i can tell you the plan was a failure from the start. The troop placement all down the road was a terrible idea and before even watching what happened i could tell what was going to happen. If you spread your forces to wide and dont cover your perimeter/flanks your sure to be cut off with help to far away. The fact that over 1,000 militants were against them was sure to inflict casualties no matter what , but it would have been less had they had the right leadership, tactics, and techniques. The timing late in the morning was wrong and the minute they tripped that IED and woke the whole area up including their target they should have pulled back and aborted the mission as they were compromised. This WAS A MASSACRE and a failure and i hope all those in charge that didnt follow protocol , who made it a cluster fu*k, and cost the lives of many due to their negligence get persecuted to the full extend. BUT unfortunately it might not happen because of not enough Senate pressure since most politicians are corrupt and accept hush money and rather have a new Mercedes vs do the right thing and fight for the lives of the people they pretend to serve. I think the orders made by the higher-ups were more concerned about the Target fleeing than the Soldiers' own safety.
The operations were first and foremost motivated by a monetary reward from a US bureau thru the greed of ranking officials headed by suspension serving general. Its' failure is due to lack of real time coordination of the top brass. SAF44 massacre was a waste in terms of command responsibility. It was a covert operation for bounty, plainly put and those who had their eyes on the money were too lazy to stay awake.

When we saw all the faces of the Fallen 44, I felt shivers down my spine. The way that TrageDiaries especially the animators captured their despair during the shooting was so disturbingly realistic by ambiance.. it made me feel like i developed a personal connection with each individual and i feel so bad that i got to know them by these horrible terms.. this is how documentaries should be made. it’s so personal..

I know this is irrelevant but, our neighbor and a close friend of my father was among the troops who perished, and his death caused our entire hamlet to mourn. Many reporters came to interview the victim's family when I was just nine years old, and I felt sorry for them since they were still answering questions while grieving. That soldier had a son, and that boy was my best buddy, and he said he wanted to be a soldier as well, and that he would seek vengeance for his father's murder.

Thumbs up for this video and my respect to the fallen SAF. I'm not a military expert but I would like to share my thoughts. Maybe someone more qualified can comment on this 🙂
1) The fallback route is a critical element to be secured first. Hence should the unit deployment be in reverse order? It should be 43rd-41st-42nd-45th-55th-Seaborne? So when Seaborne needs to fallback, they would go back and cross the river while 55th provides covering fire. Same goes when Seaborne and 55th fallback further then 45th provides covering fire and so on. Perhaps one of the chaos happened to Seaborne was they didn't know where to fallback as they were not sure if 55th was already there across the river to protect their retreat.
2) Commandos are usually small unit that move in, get the job done and move out swiftly. So dark cover at night is their advantage especially if the unit wearing night ops camouflage and using night vision. Seaborne did their move at 4 AM which gave them small time window to do the action and fallback. As the video mentions when they retreat, it was already at dawn giving away their advantage. I think Seaborne unit assault should start earlier around midnight instead, provided that the other units have been at their position.
