    It's so freaking expensive though... It appears to be a LED light with an alarm clock. :S Had the sound been better, then maybe. It seems what you are paying for is design.

      @Diego Huijbregts, it could be the case, but Philips have been selling these for over a decade now. So any research costs have been repaid for sure. The reason for high price must be the brand name, because at this price it is actually better to buy some smart assistant with touch screen display. There you can download an app with similar wake-up light effects and sounds. Better investment, at least in my opinion.

    Ikea actually has their own alarm clock that has both the light and the sounds, its only 19 dollars, its recharable, and its small portable, and will for sure wake you up, wonderful device tbh. It's called the FNURRA.

    Would it break if I looped string through the middle hole to hang it? I live in a college dorm and don't have enough desk or floor space for it.

      I don’t think it would break but it would probably end up upside down.

    I have one of the older models... Love the idea, but it made me incapable of sleeping through light (e.g. dawn) because it apparently rewired my brain to assume light = alarm.
    Maybe I should give it another try.

    But I have one question, I had a Phillips wake up light HF3485 that now is broken and I need a new one. The one thing I’d liked with the old one, was that when I had to snooze, I just needed to hit my bed table. Do that work on this one?

    Let's see.. if you got a philips hue system, you could use IFTTT to create the same effect right? Just say if time == wake-up time, then fade-in light. It seems you can even set this up in the philips hue app? Likewise you can setup sounds fading in/out.
    Then why would you want a philips somneo? Rather have a hue light, with all the benefits of the hue.

    • @SebastianUllrich1990
      @SebastianUllrich1990 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought the same thing as you, and used the Hue system to create the same fade on wake up effect. Unfortunately Hue lights don't dim very low. So in a dark room the light would turn on at its dimmest setting and be too bright for my taste. Effectively waking me up straight away.

    • @MagnusMoerkoereJohannesen
      @MagnusMoerkoereJohannesen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the somneo is portable. It's a bit inconveniently shaped, but it's very light-weight; I always bring mine with me when I travel.

    Nice but i don't think i can justify over $200 on a glorified night light; $100 I would go for it.
    I got the idea for this because of the lighting they have in aeroplanes to wake passengers up when it's still dark.

    Hi Erin, thanks for showing the Somneo model from Philips. I've been interested in these lights for some years now after I got myself the HF3520 wake-up light back 2015. I'm really glad I bought it back then, as it has been very handy in the dark north of Sweden where I live. I also like how you created and structured your video, it gives me a lot of inspiration on how I can improve and adjust my own videos in the future. I'm pretty new to youtube and I recently uploaded my first video where I share my thoughts on the HF3520 from Philips. th-cam.com/video/MGwUu2cJNi0/w-d-xo.html Would be really cool if you would check it out and share your thoughts on it, as It would be awesome to get some feedback from an active user like yourself.
